Spotted: New oke.doke nail color & flavored shiny lip gloss

I have never heard of oke.doke before, but these displays caught my eye when I was at Rite Aid and I wanted to share them with you:

It's kind of hard to see, but these nail polishes are safety-sealed! I really like that, to keep prying hands away from them in the drugstore. The colors are actually impressive for a lesser-known drugstore brand. A pretty taupey-pink, a steel blue-gray, a deep purple, a tomato red, an army green shimmer and a blingy gold. I have no idea the price on these but I might go back for one because I've been thinking about them nonstop since I saw them!

OK, these are just totally appealing to the 13-year-old trapped inside this 40-year-old body! What's it called again when you ascribe human traits to inanimate objects? I can't remember the term right now but I LOVE it when brands turn food into little people, like this little girl with pink ice cream for a head, and the little bubblegum bubble boy. Those charms are killin' me!

Have you heard of oke.doke? Have you tried any of their products? I'd love to hear from you!

  1. Oh, man!!!! I'm eating my heart out right NOW!!! In Denver they had Rite Aids and I didn't ask my brother to take me to one. What if they would have had that there? GROAN!!!

    These are so stinkin' cute!!!!!

  2. Those are adorbs! Hahaha. I think the term you were thinking of is personification. The AP English student in me actually came in handy for once!

  3. From the name and the look of these it seems like they're trying to dupe the feel of the sephora tokidoki line

  4. I actually saw the polishes today at Rite Aid. I didn't see the glosses. I picked up one of the polishes to send off in a swap with another blogger. I will be interested to see what she thinks of the polish!

  5. I totally agree Syd. That was my first thought too!

  6. anthropomorphizing? they're adorable. =3

  7. Oke Doki sure sounds a lot like Toki Doki. Will look for this at my local Rite Aid.

  8. I haven't heard of this brand yet, but they are cute! :-)

  9. I saw these in Rite Aid today and TOTALLY thought of you. Bicoastal now it appears. Also, I found and bought Sally Hansen Salon Effects Girl Flower Nail Polish strips. Though I'm still searching for the Broadway strips you found which are about 1/2 the price I'll settle for the novelty and dig on these thanks to your tutorial!

  10. Yeah this totally looks like it's trying to knock off Tokidoki and the whole look/feel of that brand. O_o

  11. OMG you guys, I am embarrassed that it didn't even occur to me: oke.doke/tokidoki! Duh! Thank you all so much for making that connection! A drugstore dupe of tokidoki! :D

And DING DING DING! Graziaplena, you nailed it: anthropomorphizing! That was driving me NUTS! It was right on the tip of my tongue but I could not remember it. THANK YOU! I can sleep tonight without that driving me crazy!

I swear I have the best, most intelligent and quick-witted readers EVER. Love you girlies! xo

  12. OMGosh.. I'm going to Rite Aid!

  13. I bought the Oke Doke lip gloss in cotton candy (they are $1.99 BTW) for my daughter... I hate it. It goes on way too thick and feels heavy. Also, as a FYI, it smells and tastes more like bubble gum than cotton candy, and leaves glitter sparkles on your lips... If I had bought it for myself, it would have gone right back to the store lol.

  14. Yup, I'm with the others, the first thing that came to mind was Tokidoki.

The Peach, how much were the polishes? I'm always interested in new polishes...especially cheap but good. I hope these are both those things. lol
