I need your help, Nouveau Cheap readers! I'm getting ready to start making my picks for my annual Cheapie Awards, and this year I want to add a "Reader's Pick" for best new drugstore product released in 2010.
If you would be so kind, leave a response in the comments. You can choose from ANY type of product (makeup, nails, skincare, haircare, etc.) but it HAS to have been released in 2010 and it HAS to be available for purchase at the drugstore.
Once I get a good number of responses, I'll take the top contenders and create a poll for you to vote on--but right now, the sky's the limit! Let your voice be heard! What was the number one best drugstore product released this year? Please please leave your comments on this post.
Even if you have never posted a comment on this blog before, I'm begging you to leave a comment on this post. And thank you!!
SH HT! even though the drama of it made me crazy
ReplyDeletei believe this was this year: WnW Nutty e/s! =]
ReplyDeleteI have to say that the CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Serum Primer is my favorite drugstore find this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge primer fan & this one has more benefits than just helping my makeup stay on longer.
I'm not sure if these didn't release until 2010, but I know I couldn't find them in my drugstore until this year, so here's my submission:
ReplyDeletePhysician's Formula Shimmer Strips Eye Enhancing Gel Creme Liner (any color).
Awesome color payoff, long lasting, and smudge resistant. And you get three color liners for about $13.
Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse
ReplyDeleteI will have to go with the Revlon Limited Edition summer lipglosses that ended up going perm! I can always reach for Pink Pop and Coral Reef and expect pigmented, non-sticky goodness!
ReplyDeleteThe new Wet n Wild eyeshadows, especially the Lust and Vanity palettes and Brulee single!
ReplyDeleteI have to say the Revlon LE lip glosses that were released this year! I love all of them! They became permanent! I love the peach and the lavender one! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWet 'n Wild's ColorIcon palettes!
ReplyDeleteRevlon PhotoReady Foundation (the one drugstore item I purchased and now use almost everyday).
ReplyDeleteRevlon Photoready foundation! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThe Garnier Fructise face care line, especially the concealer in the roller ball. Was that this year??
ReplyDeleteIf not, the Physician's formula gel liners
I have no idea what exactly was released this year! Anyone have a cheat sheet?
ReplyDeleteI have to go with Wet n Wild eyeshadows or those Revlon glosses from the summer that went permanent. I love them!
ReplyDeleteI would definitely say the Wet 'n' Wild palettes.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure you have it there,in the US, but I love the Detox anti-dandruff for oily hair that Fructis made this year.
P.S.
I love your blog!
Wet N Wild Color Icon trios, single, and palettes!! I also really like the Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse. Also really like the EOS Medicated Tangerine lip balm! I'm not sure if it released this year or not but I love the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind primer- use it daily!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the WnW Color Icon palettes, singles and trios! Those things are amazing!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRevlon Photoready foundation. even light enough for pasty faced me.
ReplyDeleteWet n Wild's Color Icon eyeshadow palettes and singles win for me!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I'm going to be so excited when you post this. I can't comment because I don't know of enough products released in 2010 (since I live in Japan!) but I'll use this list for SURE when I go to Hawaii in Dec!
ReplyDeleteThe wet n wild color icon palettes!
ReplyDeleteI adore Physician's Formula Healthy Wear powder foundation spf50. It's the best powder foundation I have ever used and have great protection.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say the wet n wild color icon palletes and eos lip spheres
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation
ReplyDeleteOrganix Tea Tree and Mint Shampoo and Conditioner. The joy of sulphate-free haircare at drugstore prices and it smells SO GOOD!
ReplyDeleteI have to jump on the WnW Coloricon palettes bandwagon as well. Amazing, amazing, AMAZING!!! I've been recommending them to all my friends, and they are always blown away at the great quality despite the dirt cheap prices!! <3
ReplyDeletehands down the Wet n' Wild color icon palettes. gorgeous colors, affordable, and amazing quality!
ReplyDeleteDef. Maybelline Falsies mascara. It got mixed reviews, but it's my holy grail drugstore mascara! =)
ReplyDeleteI knew what I was going to pick even before I saw all the WnW products. Here's mine: the creme eyeliner. I have the eggplant (? dark purple) color and it is one that can add some sizzle to almost any EOTD look.
ReplyDeleteThis will be a very anticipated post. :D
This product was re-formulated & re-named this year (hope that counts) Rimmel 25 hr lasting finish foundation. I would also throw a vote to WNW shadows in Nutty & Brulee, if those were released this year.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure. That was a pretty big deal. :)
ReplyDeleteI have to second Erika's nomination. The Physicians Formula Gel Creme eyeliners are my favorite new item of 2010.
ReplyDeleteI think they're comparable to my Bobbi Brown gel liners and better than a lot of drugstore options. I love the consistency, the color payoff, and that they come in sets of three so you get a bit of variety. It's a good value for the price, especially if you can find them in a value pack or when there's a BOGO sale.
The wet n wild color icon palettes especially in Lust!
ReplyDeleteIt's a tough choice between Sally Hansen's "Hidden Treasure" and the Wet 'n' Wild ColorIcon collection (I used the "Penny" shadow as a blush today, as you recommended, and it's fantastic!).
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I found your blog; it has opened a whole new world for me in cosmetics!
I am going to have to go with Maybelline Falsies mascara! My new holy grail! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybelline Dream Smooth Mousse
ReplyDeleteSally Hansen's "Hidden Treasure"
Revlon Limited Edition summer lipglosses
EOS lip balm
NYC cream blushes, the limited edition ones.
Those are my top 5 of the year
Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure!
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... I think Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks (was that this year??). They're amazing! Or their Just Bitten lipstains. Love those too. Or their nail polish in Minted! Revlon had some awesome products come out this year.
ReplyDeleteThe Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse - it has become my holy grail of foundations, and that says a ton!
ReplyDeleteWet n Wild Color Icon palettes, with the Megalast polish as a close 2nd.
ReplyDeleteI really liked the Milani Holo polishes!
ReplyDeleteHey, G!
ReplyDeleteI'm listing five things
Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse fndn
WnW ColorIcon shadows
Maybelline The Falsies mascara
Avon Advance Techniques Lotus Shield hair treatment
Avon Ultra Color Rich Mega Impact lippie
Maybelline color plush eye shadows!
ReplyDeleteFor sure, the Physician's Formula gel creme liners. They are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI can't even pick, hahaha. This was a really good year!
ReplyDeleteFour things majorly impress me this year:
ReplyDeleteSally Hansen Hidden Treasure
Milani Lip Flash pencils
Wet n' Wild ColorIcon palettes
Maybelline the Falsies
I would have to say the Maybelline Smokey Quads & Maybelline Define mascara.
ReplyDeleteYeah also the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hr. It's the same as the 16 hour or whatever it was before for me but still a really awesome foundation!!!
ReplyDeleteRimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara or L'Oreal Lash Boosting Serum. A winning pair!
ReplyDeleteYour blog generated a Wet n Wild eye shadow fenzy for me. I was disappointed when the Urban Decay Naked palette did not work for me, but after reading your posts I went to my corner Walgreens and picked up the Vanity palette. It was Love at first swipe. I am so glad I didn't pay $44 for the UD!
ReplyDeleteThe Wet n Wild Mega Last lipcolors are amazing, especially in the shade Spotlight Red; it's a total show stopper!
ReplyDeleteAnother vots for the Color Icon palettes!
ReplyDeleteOrly Cosmic FX collection
ReplyDeleteWet N Wild Craze nail color in Glitz
I'll add my vote for the WnW Coloricon palettes, Nutty and Brulee!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the new color icon from Wet-n-Wild. Eyeshadow singles as well as palettes.
ReplyDeleteWNW Color Icon palettes
ReplyDeleteL'oreal Lash Boosting Serum
N.Y.C. Blushable Creme Sticks
Revlon ColorBurst lipstick
Physicians Formula Healthy Wear Bronzer
New Colors of Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss
Oh, and Revlon Matte Lipsticks!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't decide between these two:
ReplyDeleteSally Hansen's "Hidden Treasure" polish and
Revlon Super Lustrous summer glosses (Peach Petal, Coral Reef, Firecracker, Pink Pop).
Revlon PhotoReady Foundation and Powder
ReplyDeleteThe whole Garnier Moisture Rescue line but the Gel Cream Moisturizer is the most amazing thing.
ReplyDeleteWet N Wild Color Icon Palettes
ReplyDelete(I got Night Elf last night and instantly thought of you!)
xoxox.
Wet N Wild Idol Eyes Creme Shadow, specifically in Graphite. Great color, great application. :)
ReplyDeletemy faves (if applicable):
ReplyDeleteRevlon Matte lipsticks
Wet'n'Wild palettes and singles- i use them almost every day
PF gel liner trios
Maybelline's Falsies mascara (love it!)
and last but not least, the new shades of Revlon Super Lustrous gloss. i especially have a thing for the lavendar one and i need to acquire the coral one for the holidays!
WnW MegalastNail Polish & Color Icon shadows - 1'2 3' and the 6 palette
ReplyDeletenew modern colors from NYC, flat Iron Green, Spring Street etc......
Definitely the WnW palette in Vanity. It's like my own little UD Naked...haha not really. That and NYC Flat Iron Green-NARS Zulu dupe FTW!
ReplyDeleteWHY must you make us only pick one?!? =p
ReplyDeleteI can totally start listing 'em by category =( lol (me and my OCD-ness right? :D)
BUT you know me, so if I have to say 1 product, it'd be the Wet n Wild Color Icon palettes =) All the singles/trios/palettes, WnW have absolutely outdone themselves this year!
I think this was released this year: (well up here in Canada anyways)
ReplyDeleteLive Clean's Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner. No parabens, SLS, etc., and leaves my long, dry hair so soft! I guess that's 2 products-if I had to pick one, it would be their conditioner.
Great question, by the way!
WOW!! I immediately thought of the Wet n Wild Color Icon shadows before I read all the comments and now I see that I'm not the only one who loved them :)
ReplyDelete#1 Wet n Wild ColorIcon Palettes (Vanity & Pride being my personal favorites)
ReplyDelete#2 Wet n Wild ColorIcon Singles
(Brule is my current go-to e/s for blending)
#3 LE Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Glosses (especially Coral Reef & Pink Pout)
Volum' Express the Falsies Mascara
ReplyDeleteThe best ever mascara once you get the hang of it.
from Ruth
This is practically impossible. I love those Revlon glosses everyone is mentioning, the Wet n Wild eyeshadow singles and palettes, the newer Wet n Wild nail polishes, Jordana single eyeshadows, Jordana glosses, and Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure.
ReplyDeleteBut if I have to pick one I'll go with the Garnier Moisture Rescue Gel-Cream. I love that stuff! Oh, wait, wasn't the Neutrogena liquid sunblock put out this year too? I'll call it a tie between those two products then. I use them daily and they're awesome basic products.
Wet n' Wild color icon single eyeshadows in general or Brule in particular - amazing little cheapy shadow wonder!
ReplyDeleteOh! I forgot to mention another that is tied with SH HT as my favorite of the year. Someone else mentioned it, but it is Garnier Moisture Rescue Gel-Cream. I love love love that stuff. I have been looking for a gel moisturizer I can get easily and cheaply for the longest time and I finally have it. Plus it works really well for me too!
ReplyDeleteWnW ColorIcon Palettes for sure, but also WnW Craze nail polishes and LA Colors Color Craze nail polishes. Oh and another vote for NYC blush sticks, love those!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to go with the Wet'n'Wild color icon shadows! All of 'em, the singles, 3 packs and sextuplets (okay, that's not the name, but I can't remember right now!. It's just so exciting to see such amazing products come from a line that is already the most affordable in the drugstore! I also agree with Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure, I am SO glad I randomly stumbled across a bottle of the stuff because it really is amazing.
ReplyDeleteWithout a doubt, it was the return of a quality powder foundation! My vote goes to PF's Healthy Wear Powder Foundation with SPF 50 *thanks for turning me on to this!*
ReplyDeleteDEFINITELY the Phy. Form. Gel Liners....I had purchased two from the L'oreal HIP line (the purple and the blue) and another purple from the Maybelline Eye Studio line, and the P.F. gel trio beat them all!! I'd never used gel cream liners before, but was very well-accustomed to using pencil. I'd used liquid liner many times by dipping a wet brush into a Ben Nye cake eye liner pot, and I still LOVE the P.F. for daily wear!! THANKS so much! I'd not have tried these had you not reviewed them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! MWAH! =)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I tried the WnW eyeshadow, NUTTY, and I love it too!
