Clarification

I'll try my best to keep this brief, I promise.

The number one thing I wanted to make sure I conveyed correctly in yesterday's blog post was that I was in no way, shape or form, ungrateful for the emails, comments and tweets that I receive from you about great deals that you spot. And up until this morning, the response from you has been amazing and incredibly supportive.

But then I received an email indicating that yes, I DID seem ungrateful in my last post, and that, in a nutshell, I should just shut up and be glad people are reading my blog.

That was a pretty heart-crushing email to read. So even if just that one person feels that way, I need to address it.

As I said in my original blog post, if I post about a great deal at the drugstore, and then the very same day, and for days afterward, I get emails, comments and tweets alerting me to the very same deal, I NEVER get frustrated with YOU for that. I immediately think, "OK, why did so many people miss this when I blogged about it earlier? What did I do wrong?"  THAT is the thing that makes me frustrated.  

I always say that half the stuff I post here is a direct result of  YOUR comments. Whenever I get a great scoop from one of you, I am genuinely thrilled to mention your name and give you full credit with heaps of thanks in the post. If I have inadvertently made any one of you think twice about emailing me about a great deal, please know that this was never my intention.

Whenever someone writes in an email, "I saw this great deal at CVS and I immediately thought of you" it puts a HUGE smile on my face and in my heart. That sounds really cheesy, I know, but to think that someone I don't know actually thought of ME when they saw a good sale, and then took the time to email me about it? There are no words to express how grateful and appreciative I am when I receive a letter like that. It makes me feel like what I'm doing resonates with you, and we all have this wonderful little bond. That is absolutely priceless to me!

So why would I ever complain about that? I covet and cherish it! The thing I was complaining about was MY failure to get information out to you in an effective way.  THAT is a huge complaint of mine, but the issue I have is with myself--never, ever,  has it been with YOU.

    The idea about having the weekly sales above each post is awesome, because it's a very short message and everybody get's to see it no matter what! ;)

  6. My guess is the same reader who doesn't read the blog posts, didn't finish yesterday's post either and then blasted you for what they THOUGHT they read, though they didn't really read it all.
    You can't please everyone all the time, and if you're not making someone mad at some point then you're doing it wrong. :)
    I loved how you made it about YOU wanting to communicate more clearly. That YOU realized your message wasn't getting out as clearly as you wanted it to. I don't know that it ever will, but I appreciate that you're trying!

  8. For me it's lots of great information, not enough brain cells and I'm usually reading from google. Totally not anything to do with how you post. What info I miss is always picked up by my daughter :) So many times we've run out to the store to pick up some great deals because of you. Sometimes we even see something while we're out & come home to see you've already posted about it. I just want to say THANKS! My wallet thanks you to.

  9. I don't understand why people have to be like that. You NEVER come off ungrateful, rude, or even slightly cranky. People get their panties in a wad over the slightest things. To me it seems like that person is being ungrateful to you for providing us with entertainment and good information. They make it seem like we're reading your blog to do you a favor, and not because we genuinely like it and get something our of it too. Like someone else said, there always has to be one bad apple. I hope you don't let it get to you!

  11. People are just mean- ignore them :) Your post was just fine and very helpful. It definitely did not seem ungrateful!!! You never seem ungrateful, gumpy, or rude! You are such a sweet person-I can tell even without having met you! Love you G!!! You're great.

  12. I love that you have the best deals in their own little section now. Don't let that complainer get you down. You really went out of your way to make sure your readers knew you just wanted to make sure we didn't miss any deals-that you weren't ungrateful at all. Anyone who got anything else out of your post has a reading comprehension problem. I love your blog, you always clue me in to the great deals. I've got nothing but praise for you!

  15. I have never once commented on your blog even though I am a faithful reader. I read your blog in my Google Reader and just today I was thinking how your blog has become my favorite and how I jump to your post(s) in my reader before I read the other ones.

    But I feel compelled to comment on this blog post. If someone misunderstood the tone of your post yesterday that is their fault, not yours. It was perfectly clear to me what you meant. I got that you were searching for a better way to display the information you were sharing, not blaming anyone for sending you info that is already on your blog.

    I hope you know that most everyone who reads your blog got what you were trying to say. :)

  17. I read your post yesterday and it makes me sad that an email from a reader who misunderstood that post brought you down :( You are absolutely not doing anything wrong! You are a fantastic blogger! People will always try to pick apart everything you say to try to twist it around into something it's not. You just have to remember that you have tons of loyal readers who truly appreciate you and your blog and that's what matters :)

  19. Whoever said that to you must be new to this blog, only because-"be glad people are reading my blog"- You prove that to us everyday. We know you are glad we are reading your blog. All of us who are regular readers know we are appreciated and know you work hard keeping this blog updated with the best deals for us.

    You are the first person I think of when I spot a bargain, or something new at the drugstore. It's because I want to give back to you a little bit of the tons of bargains, showing us what's new, reviewing products for us so we won't get stuck with a dud, etc. Sometimes I'm in such a hurry to tell you about it, I haven't read your latest posts, and didn't know you already saw it! I think that this might be one of the explanations for the emails and tweets you're getting. It's us, not you! LOL
