Lipstick: matte, sheer, or somewhere in the middle?
I love opaque lipsticks that are more on the matte side of the spectrum (but not super dry) because I tend to think they just look better on my lips (and also last longer). Do you prefer your lipsticks more sheer, or is there another consistency that makes a lipstick "perfect" to you? Tell me all about your favorite lipstick texture!
I prefer glossy or sheer lipsticks and I am not too fond of mattes. I feel like mattes stick too much to my lips. The discontinued Covergirl Trushines were perfect for me.

ReplyDeletei actually love mattes. i find they last longer, and makes my lips look fuller and softer than if i used something glossy. and they dont require you to keep checking up since they pretty much stay where you applied. cremes are good too, but theyre just a little more maintenance than mattes
ReplyDeletei do like glossy and sheer lipsticks though, but only when the sun is out. i feel they look best when the sun hits them and makes them sparkle and shine! =]
all in all, mattes for me!

ReplyDeleteLOVE mattes, and hadn't really tried them until the Revlon ones came along (too young for the 90s craze i guess. plus Mum would NOT have let me!) they're such an antidote to the incessant metallics and lipglosses so many girls wear. i love sparkly glitter too- don't get me wrong- but i feel like it's all i ever see. and i have already been through 2 glitter phases so i'm very much out of the phase at the moment. (watch me swing round again in like a month!) i like subtle shine, or tiny, microscopic flecks of gold and jewels (a la the Avon lipsticks) but that's about it right now. or completely sheer, with shine coming from moisturizing properties like petrolatum.

Satin. Enough color and moisturizing. I don't need it to be uber long lasting

ReplyDeleteSomewhere in the middle! Sheers are gorgeous, but don't last. Mattes last, but they flake. My lips are very dry, so mattes are out. I don't like to reapply lipstick throughout the day. A creamy lipstick is the way to go!
ReplyDeleteI like to use a lip stain and then follow with a sheer lipstick or a gloss (or even both for extra lasting power). I can usually go the whole day with only reapply after lunch and add gloss as needed.

ReplyDeleteFor everyday wear I like a little sheen to my lippie. I feel most comfortable with natural colors and SPF is a plus. I love the new Rimmel lipsticks. My favorite color right now is Precious Brown.
ReplyDeleteI prefer lipsticks that are sheer and somewhat glossy, probably mostly because my lips are pigmented so I don't need something particularly long lasting.
ReplyDeleteOk, this is a great question! I have to say I honestly LOVE all kinds of lipsticks. I don't have a favorite. It depends on what I'm wearing, where I'm going, etc. then I choose one to wear. I don't lean towards any one kind in particular. Each has it's own merits.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kind is one that similar to L'Oreal's Juice Sticks. They are very much between sheer and opaque - but I love most is that they are kinda glossy and they are moisturizing! Also, they smell awesome. Too bad they are discont... that's why my next fav. is Maybelline's moisture extreme lipsticks.

ReplyDeleteMatte for sure. I hate constantly wondering whether a lipstick is in the process of slipping completely off my lips, and I hate reapplying lipstick even more. Mattes are cleaner and classier looking, and last much longer. Love them!

ReplyDeleteI like lipstick that feels like its not there and doesn't wear off. So... I suppose matte but sheer at the same time? Can't be too sticky. Can't wear off on everything! Too shimmery or too shiny is way to distracting.
ReplyDeletei love satin or lustre variants, haven't tried matte. Sometimes i want really GLOSSY lips and i use MAC clear lipglass or lancome juicy tubes on top of lipstick =)

ReplyDeleteI'm with Jeweled Thumb - I love a good sheer/glossy lipstick (right now I wear my favorite Maybelline Color Sensational lipcolor almost every day). My lips themselves are pretty dark, especially next to my crazy pale skin, so I just need something sheer to heighten and focus the color. They tend to run naturally pretty pink, so I like to use browns (Toffee Tango is excellent) to tone it down.
ReplyDeleteI prefer opaque, but it seems like most of the matte or opaque lipsticks are all pretty drying while the sheer ones are usually somewhat moisturizing.
