The Wednesday Question

This week's question is for all of my fellow dark-circle gals out there.  If you've got dark circles under your eyes, please please leave your response in the comments. I would LOVE to hear from you!

What's your favorite product for concealing dark circles?

I'm testing a few different under-eye concealers right now for review (I can't wait to share them with you) but for several months now I have been addicted to Maybelline SuperStay concealer. It is thick enough to conceal darkness and it doesn't budge all day. Also, I find that it doesn't settle into my fine lines, which is one of my priorities for a good under-eye concealer.  So what about you? What product do you depend on to help conceal your dark circles?

  1. I use the revlon spa concealer most often. It's not the best out there but it's good enough to brighten and doesn't crease or cake.

  2. I've been using the Revlon Age Defying SPA concealer for my dark circles and it seems to work fine on me. I have oily/combo skin so finding something that lasts was a challenge. When I apply it, I find that patting it on with my ring finger blends it out better and the coverage it also better then swiping it on.

I've also been trying out the Revlon Age defying Moisturizing concealer which works well too but I think the age defying Spa concealer has a little more staying power.

  3. I LOVE Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer. I hope they never stop making it! : )

  4. What a coincidence that you should ask this! While looking at your Palladio look, I was just thinking, "Geez, either she has NO dark circles or has found an amazing concealer!" LOL!

Anyway, I've just started using Lancome Effacernes. Concealer is, to me, one of those "boring" products that I hate spending money on, so I kept buying concealer after concealer at the drugstore but not finding anything I liked for covering undereye circles (BTW, thanks for those, Mom!). Finally I decided that for as much as I wasted on those, I'd suck it up and pay a little more for one that's gotten great reviews, so I did and I'm very happy with it.

(Sorry for the long answer to a short question! :D)

  5. I've recently noticed a darkening, not just under but at the corners and on the lids of my eyes. Not very dark, but just enough to be annoying. I've just turned 40 and I get plenty of sleep so I'm thinking it's more of an age thing. I've been using Dermactin TS anti-wrinkle eye cream from Sally. It's a generic version of the Strivectin products. It's been just a week and my whole eye area is brighter and smoother! No irritation, either, as my eyes are notoriously sensitive. I'm going to keep using it to see what happens.

  6. Ug I have some serious circles. I've been using Maybelline's yellow tinted corrector stick but it's not cutting it. I think I need to start using something peach... but everything is just tan!

  7. Unfortunately for me, I inherited my extreme dark circles, and I honestly haven't found anything that works for me. I'm 27 now, and they seem to have gotten worse. I know for me I'll never find anything that actually completely covers them up but I'll take anything that makes them look better than they do now. I'm so self conscious about them that I wear my glasses all the time, except when I sleep of course. I recently ordered the camo quad concealer from Coastal Scents after reading and hearing so many good reviews. Unfortunately for me it doesn't work that great, again I think it's because I have an extreme case. Anywho sorry for the rambling, I'm definitely open to any suggestions.

  8. Oh the dark circles! Mine are a combination of lack of sleep and hereditary---and they're bad! I've been using Boing! by Benefit, but it doesn't seem to do the trick anymore. I may have to give Maybelline a try.

  9. I'm currently using Revlon Age Defying Moisturizing Concealer and I like it. It doesn't completely cover the dark circles but it doesn't cake either which is great. I will finish it before trying another concealer.

  10. I just love the Amazing Cosmetic's concealers! they are creamy and goes on smooth. And they do have amazing coverage! you really should try it out. it can be used anywhere on face. I mostly use it for my dark circles. But my friend uses it for blemish all over her face and it works!.

  11. I began using Mac and it worked for me, But then I noticed once my skin retained its moisture better the circles disappeared.

  12. I use Benefit's BOING and it works wonderfully! It isn't really budget friendly, so hopefully your reviews can shed some much needed light on some new options.

  13. For dark under eye circles I've found a good pair of sunglasses to work pretty well.

Seriously, I've tried department store brands to drug store brands to indie mineral makeup and nothing works. They only emphasize them so I've given up and just do without.

  14. I use Bobbi Brown corrector and Maybelline Superstay (thanks to your review). It works pretty well and I have bad dark circles..but I'm still looking for something better. I used to have an Estee Lauder concealer sample that came out of a tube and was awesome. But I think it's been discontinued. The Revlon spa concealers did nothing at all for me.. ok done!

  15. e.l.f. Studio Under Eye Concealer and Highlighter duo in medium. Works so well for me, and it's just 3 dollars! And I like the highlighter too; it's a more natural highlighter so it doesn't look to awkward down the bridge of the nose. A super cheap 2-in-1 that actually works! (for me, anyways) =]

  16. Usually I don't like to hide my under eye circles but when I do I use maybelline age rewind instant perfectos or whatever it's called. It's got the creamy concealer on one side and a soft highlighted on the other, I really recommend this for people with not a lot of darkness under thier eyes.

  17. I've been using Maybelline Age Rewind Double Face Perfector. It has a highlight and concealer side that dries to a matte finish and doesn't crease!

  18. I use Maybelline Age rewind, the basic tube. It doesn't work wonders ut sp far it's the best I have tried without spending all my savings.

  19. My dark areas are in my inner corner and in my crease line. My under eye area isn't too bad and I use Boing for that. For the upper and inner problem I use MAC paintpot in Painterly and it covers everything fine. But I'm always on the lookout for something better and cheaper... waiting to hear your reviews R

  20. @ erinmw. I actually got my Benefit Boing during a Sephora Sweet Steal for like 10 bucks! I know this is meant for more drugstore and affordable makeup but check out Sephora stores/online weekly because the "sweet steal" changes every week. They've even offered things like Urban Decay liquid liner for $9 (retails $18) and 2 Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows for around $10 (a set of 2.) They have such great offers so check often! Also, last weekend they were offering V.I.B.s free Bare Minerals gift sets (that sell for $32.) There might still be some left so call your stores.

  21. I have dark hereditary circles and nothing REALLY seems to work for me. I've tried a lot of concealers and I like the new Age Defying Moisturizing Concealer from Revlon the most. It doesn't cake (a miracle for me) and it has SPF 25! It's not a prefect color match and it doesn't completely cover them, but nothing really does. To be honest, most days I don't even bother trying to hide them. I just wear my glasses all the time. ^-^

  22. I've been using Maybelline Cover Stick for four years now. It covers like nobody's business! It can get a little cakey if your skin is dry, though, but nothing that primer doesn't fix. I obsessed over my undereye circles for years until I tried this.

  23. This totally blows my drugstore-style, but for dark circles, I use Giorgio Armani Master Corrector in pink (it's more peachy) and it works GREAT. It also costs a fortune! I am a study in extremes. I also use Maybelline Instant Age-Rewind, but pretty soon that's gonna run out, and what then?

  24. dark undereye circles is my major problem. I've tried a LOT of concealers already from different brands. Im happy with this combination, skinfood salmon dark circle concealer #2 + MAC Studio finish concealer NC20 to brighten my undereyes.

here's my review of the salmon concealer

  25. I agree with the Benefit user above, it is a little pricey. I use Benefit's "Erase Paste". It is awesome and a litte goes a long way, so the price tag is worth it to me.

  26. WOW, ladies! Thank you SOOOOO much for all the fantastic responses. It looks like, for drugstore brands, Revlon and Maybelline are the top contenders here. I have to admit I'm a bit intrigued by the higher-end products you've listed as well. I still have yet to find a product that *completely* conceals my under-eye darkness (but thank you so much, JenJen for saying you don't notice it in my pics!) and it sounds like many of you have the same problem. A lot of products can make darkness look worse, while others help to a certain extent but don't cover or cancel them out fully. So the search goes on....(but at least I have some new products to try, thanks to all of you!). :)

  27. I bought the Revlon and it was ok. Then on your rec I bought the Maybelline and love love love it. I generally put it on over a DIY tinted sunscreen and then dab it with a sponge. Primer underneath it makes it take just a smidge longer to set, so the sponge blends it out perfectly. Thanks again for for your recs! Are you going to try any of the higher - end ones?
