One Squeaky Clean Sold Shampoo (retail: $6.99 at Target, 2 oz)
This little bar comes in a canister that is made from paper, and inside the canister is a tin that houses the bar itself:
I love the little whole on the top of the canister so that you can see and smell the product before you buy it.
On the bottom of the tin are several holes that will help to drain the water from the shampoo bar after you use it, and also help to keep your bar dry in-between uses.
I absolutely love the smell of this product. To me it smells like honey and oatmeal it's very comforting. As for the bar itself, I have been using it for four days now and so far I really like it. I have to admit that I didn't following the directions the first time I used it and I was in for a big surprise. According to the package, you need to get your hair really wet, and then rub the bar 3 or 4 times on your head. Well, I didn't trust that because my hair is quite long, and I didn't think rubbing this 3 or 4 times across my head was going to produce enough lather to wash my entire head of hair.
Boy was I wrong! The first time I used this, I rubbed the bar against my wet hair probably 7 or 8 times, and when I put the bar down and touched my head, there was a mountain of lather there! It was actually too much lather, so I would advise you to follow the directions to a "T" the first time you use it, and adjust accordingly.
The next few times I used this, I followed the directions and this little bar supplied the perfect amount of lather to cleanse my hair. The title of the product really fits because my hair is definitely squeaky clean when I use this bar. So far I haven't experienced any issues with drying, but I do have to follow-up with my regular conditioner when I'm done cleansing.
Would I recommend this product? I would have to say that if you have oily hair like me, you might love this one. For me, it was able to cut through the oils in my hair and leave it feeling super clean, shiny and bouncy. But if you have dry hair, I may skip it because it really cleanses the hair and it might be a bit much if your hair is dry or damaged.
Have you tried anything from One yet? As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts!
I emailed the company with an idea and the president emailed me back the next day! I think we might have a new product coming!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to buy this on my next Target run (like in 24 hours, LOL!) I recently ran out of my beloved Batiste, and I'm hesitant to buy another bottle.. and I think I'm going to lay off on the dry shampoo for awhile, so if this product is gentle enough to use daily for oily hair, I'm all ears :)
ReplyDeleteI was at my local Target today looking for this new line. The Bath & Body section was completely blocked with carts full of boxes. I hope this means they were adding One products!!
ReplyDeleteThe concept of a shampoo in a bar intrigues me. I can't wait to try it out!!
Oooh, I want to try this! The smell sounds like something I'd like. And the shampoo bar tins do look better than the Lush ones to me, because of the drainage. :D Have you tried any Lush shampoo bars? It always takes me more than three or four swipes, but I don't know if that's just because I have really thick hair, or because of the shampoo bars themselves. I will say, that they give awesome lather when I swipe them 7 or 8 times, which is fine with me.
ReplyDeleteI should probably say that I actually like Lush products, including their super strong scents. XD I mostly just don't like the pushy sales people at my local store and the prices. -_- And they do kind of have a holier than though attitude.
I was wondering since there's a "hole" in the container so that you can smell the product, is there any protective layer so that nothing gets "inside the hole." I'm just thinking that people will be touching the shampoo bar inside or if the container dropped on the floor, dust and dirt will get into the product.. Thanks
ReplyDeleteOooh this sounds so good! I really like the fact the tin has drainage holes, the LUSH ones don't and i always wonder if the product will go a bit slimy :/
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fantastic! I have oily hair too so I think I should give this a shot.
ReplyDeleteWould you call this a clarifying shampoo? I have been using a Suave clarifying shampoo and it actually keeps my hair from getting really oily and I can actually go one day without washing my hair. Is this comparable for this bar?
I just read about this product in Shape Magazine, and thought it looked very interesting! Thank you for the review...when I'm finished with my bottle of Wen, this is going to be my next purchase!
ReplyDeleteOMG, this product looks so cool! When I went to Target last week, I didn't see this, but I did see Kings and Queens! I didn't buy anything though, but the products looked really good. I might have to go back soon and look for One again! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting - hadn't heard about this line or new shampoo - thanks for the scoop!
ReplyDeletetysm, can't wait to try it. i just ordered some lush shampoo & conditioner for the first time, but i think i'll grab a shamp + cond by ONE and compare!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't even heard of the line, LOL! It sounds great, def something I'd use and like to have in my shower. I wonder if there's a hydrating version? That'd be nice!
ReplyDeleteI love this product as well. I was also worried about the lather factor and so I rubbed it on 7-8x the first time too :D I'm very impressed. I've always wondered about solid shampoo bars and I'm glad I gave them a try.
ReplyDeleteI almost bought this, but it has sulfites.
ReplyDeleteSounds cool :)
I admire this company's philosophy, but one look at the ingredients list kind of kills it for me as a "natural" product line. It has SLS and two artificial dyes in it. I'm not an all natural person so it probably wouldn't stop me from using this product (and next time I'm at Target I'll definitely take a look at the line), but yeah. I wouldn't classify this product in their line as all natural, just my two cents. :)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, thank you for the detailed review as always! Keep up the fabulous work!
I use the Lush one for airplane travel because I always try to carry one luggage. Having a solid shampoo means one less thing for the quart bag. I have been looking for a less expensive and readily available alternative. I will definitely try this for travel (prob not use it otherwise though)>
ReplyDeleteOK, I just bought it and I really like it for clarifying my oily hair!
ReplyDeleteLooks very similar to the LUSH bar shampoo's!
ReplyDeleteI am def going to buy this when I see it at my Target (it wasn't there a few days ago). Or maybe I just didn't see it!
I got the Mom's Cherry Pie lip balm. At first I thought I liked it, but then I realized it was just the smell and taste that I liked. It isn't really very moisturizing and the formula is pretty thin so it's hard to apply much.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good clarifying shampoo.
