The Wednesday Question

Is it just me or does it feel like a month has gone by since last week's question?? Anyway, this week I've got a fun one for you, so I hope you'll take a moment to leave your response in the comments (and that includes any and all lurkers out there--come out and play with us even if it's just for one day!). Here were go:

What shade of eyeshadow is your absolute weakness?

In other words, what one shade gets you EVERY time? I know that for a lot of you, new taupe eyeshadows must be yours, no matter how many taupe eyeshadows you already own. For me, well, I'm a sucker for deep, rich bronze shades. I simply cannot resist a good bronze eyeshadow, I tell you. So let's hear it! What color of eyeshadow makes you immediately sigh and then whip out your wallet? Tell me, tell me!

  1. My eyeshadow weakness is green or purple. I have so many shades of both, but I keep buying them. lol

  2. Definitely taupe or pretty much any neutrals - and it's not just you. January has flown by.

  3. Just about any mid to deep shade of purple, and any bright aqua/teal make me want to buy them.

January has flown by, for sure.

  4. Think Kitten by Stila... A nice light gold with hints of melon-y pink! Or just gold... I can't really blend that well so one swipe of something golden on my lids is just perfect. It makes my eyes shine so brightly =)

  5. Reds, I have been on an epic hunt for the perfect deep crimson red eye shadow.....which has led to me owning nearly 10 red eyeshadows that I dont use often.....because they always look different in person. However I do plan to buy another 5 Ive been eyeballing from fyrinnae and hi-fi and aromoleigh and evil shades cause Ive been swatch hunting.

Aside from my red obsession....I <3 black shades. red-blacks and purple-blacks and blue-blacks and green-blacks and blacks with glitter and shimmery blacks...

  6. My weaknesses are really pretty, shimmery neautral shades, like browns and creams, and then purple! I can't get enough of pretty purple eyeshadows! I have green eyes and so purple really makes them pop, plus it's just a darn good-looking color! Heheh!

I used to love blacks and *super* dark greys, but I could never perfect how to use them and always ended up looking sad and washed out. Raccoon like, almost! So I stay away from black eyeshadows nowadays.

  7. For me, it's not just 1 single shade that I absolutely always "need." It's ANY neutral palette I can find. I'm a total sucker for neutrals and nudes and when they come in a palette, it's a MUST HAVE for me. I own way too many of them.

  8. I have 2 weeknesses, pink eyeshadows of any kind and neons. I ADORE neon eyeshadows and would collect them all if i could, luckilly there aren't that many out there or my bank account would seriously suffer!

  9. oh January, slow down. eep.

i too am a sucker for warm bronzes and coppers! (also golds.) i think it's because they flatter all the colours of my eyes (green-blue-grey; thay change colour) and go with almost any MU or clothing style.

i especially like perking up my pale winter skin with copper shadow, well-blended bronzer as blush, and a juicy pink lipstick or gloss.

  10. I would say purple. I have so many already but I always want more because I really like purple looks.

  11. Purples. Almost any purples. And turquoise shades, that's pretty new though. I do love metallics too, now! Well, what can I say? I just love color. ;)

  12. Taupes and purples. 2009 is the first time I ever wore a taupe. And I've been wearing makeup for many years...but I tried one and realized how great it looks with my eyes! (And it was the sassy duo from HiP)

  13. Light and medium purples are my weakness. I can't help buying lilac and lavender e/s. I don't know even know why because I hardly wear them. I wear mostly neutrals and taupes on a daily basis.

  14. Deep reddish brown colors... like Lorac Suede and lid color in the new WNW 3 shadow palette Knock on wood. I can't resist this color!

  15. all shades of purple. i love lavenders, mauves, and bright pop-of-color purples. i have every shade imaginable

  16. antique gold shadows like NYX single in Iced Mocha or Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner in Stash

  17. I never realized it until my husband was watching me put on makeup and said, "Why do you have so many pinks?" I love pink, but in that middle of the road pink, nothing too bright or too light. Pinky-browns and shimmery pinks and matte pinks and goldish pinks...

  18. I'm not huge on eyeshadows, but the only ones I own and use (and continue to buy) are rich browns (and the occasional champagne inner corner highlight color). I have brown eyes and fair skin, and no matter how hard I try I can't pull off a black/grey smokey eye but I can do brown quite well. I also love putting them over smudged brown eyeliner and on my bottom lashline. It's much more subtle than black but adds a certain depth.d I also love that certain matte browns can double as an eyebrow powder for me!

  20. Oh, and I a have a question/request - have you ever thought of doing a review of Trader Joe's beauty products? I've been really intrigued by their selection of products lately (after finally trying jojoba oil and their tea tree oil soap) and have been wondering what else people like to use.

  21. I absolutely ADORE purples, browns, and golds. They make my eyes pop!

  22. My eyeshadow weakness is blue, purple and light golden yellow color.

  23. Shimmery glittery brown/copper/gold/bronze. From the brown family!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Mine would probably be a soft gray/pewter shade. I don't like it if it borders on being a pale silver or a deep black, so it has to be right in between. Shimmer would be a big plus.

  25. I have entirely too many gold, peach, and coppery eyeshadows.

  26. Anything dark...and nearly black...I love dif color smokey eyes :)

  27. Eye shadow isn't really my weakness, but I would have to say copper since it goes well with my skin tone and it's not the most common of eye shadow shades out there. Also olive green for the same reason.

  28. eyeshadow is a must..I love white, green, oil slick (black), purple, green, blue and brown..

  29. crazy for bright n shimmery shades like screaming teal, purple, orange, pink, etc., and especially 'holographic' shades, like the ones Physicians Formula used to have, stoopid discontinued stuff, grrr...lol
[I don't wear makeup out, just some spackle, cuz I have really really really REALLY bad sundamage blotches [and I need to lose about 40+lbs.], so I feel UG-LEEEEEE, but I do make mahself up and show mah work to mah hubby, he likes it:-)]

  30. Taupes.... yes yes yes typical but I want a taupe w/ a cool undertone (CG's Tapestry Taupe and NYX Iced Mocha). I don't really like the warm ones as much. Also plummy/purple taupes are amazing (root beer from NYX - well I guess it isn't a taupe but it has purple undertone so it is amazing!)!

  31. I'm late to the party, I know, but I am a sucker for berry shades. I have green eyes, and berry eyeshadow makes them look even greener.

I also like warm metallic shadows like bronze or gold.

  32. Wow, ladies! I am loving reading all of your replies to this question!

I am so glad to hear that it's not just me who had a tendency to buy the same shades over and over! lol.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to this post--you've given me inspiration to go outside of my comfort zone of bronzey shades and try some of the colors that work so well for you! xo

  33. So this is definitely not an 'everyday' color, but I'm a sucker for a good teal shadow. I love to lay it on really thick as a fun version of smoky liner, and I have about three shades of it in my train case right now!!!
