The 2009 Limited Edition Suave Seasonals Body Washes are here! (well, sort of)

I have no pictures and I have no review. So what the heck is the point, right? lol.

I just wanted to let you know that a reader emailed me to tell me she spotted the new Suave Limited Edition Seasonals Body Washes at her local Walmart yesterday. Do you want to know what this year's scents are? (Past years' collections have included such cult classics as Buttercream Swirl and Whipped Cocoa.)

Drum roll please:
Toasted Vanilla Sugar

Candied Apple

Holiday Pear

Peppermint Bliss

I don't know about you, but I am SOOO excited to get my hands on Peppermint Bliss. If it's anything like Bath & Body Works Twisted Peppermint, but for $1.50 a bottle, I'm buying a carton, thankyouverymuch.

So...if any of you lovelies spot these at your local Walmart, Target, or elsewhere, please let me know! I am pulling out the stops and talking to my contacts as we speak and I will not stop until I get these. And when I do, you know I'll review 'em!

PS: If you go to your local Walmart this weekend looking for these, don't look for them in the shower gel aisle. My contact told me that she found hers in a cardboard holiday display near the cosmetics department. :)

  2. I want to try the peppermint, but I've NEVER seen the holiday editions of Suave products. I think my Walmart just doesn't get them. :(

  5. I've often wondered what would happen if I dumped fragrance free oil in one of these. I wash my hands frequently at work so I need soap that won't dry out my hands... that tend to be on the sensitive side. Would love to try one of these washes. Smells so good just reading about them. lol!

  6. PB: I hear ya! I know I will end up getting some Twisted Peppermint if/when they release it again. lol. :)

Trisha: I know, right? I neeed these. :)

Hana: You are not alone. I have been looking for these for years and NEVER find them in my area either. But this year, I'm on a mission. If I have to have a friend ship some to me, I'm getting them, darnit! :)

Niki: Thanks so much for the tip! I forgot that Big Lots often gets these older seasonal items. I'm going to check mine this week! xo

Toma: Oooh, please let me know if you find 'em? :)

Anon: Hum...that's a very good question. I'd say that if you added a few drops of something like olive oil to your hand soap, it *probably* wouldn't hurt. But just so we're clear, the products in my post are BODY washes, not hand washes. Are you usually using body washes as hand soap? If so, I'd probably try switching to a "moisturizing" hand wash and see if that helps. Burt's Bees and Soft Soap both make hand washes that contain shea butter, which might help with your dry hands. Keep me posted?

  7. Recessionista, thanks for the olive oil idea. I was thinking more like baby oil but olive oil sounds better. Yes, I do realize they are body washes. I never really noticed that much difference between body and hand liquid soaps so to me it doesn't matter much... not that I've done extensive comparisons. I'm just trying to interject some yummy festive options to a really dull routine ... keeping cost down and remaining beneficial at the same time.

  8. Hi Anon: You are so welcome! I'd love to know what you think of this "experiment" if you try it. Thanks for clarifying the whole hand wash/body wash thing. :) I've used body washes as hand washes in the past and, in my limited experience, they can be a little more harsh and drying than stuff made specifically for hands. I think that maybe this has to do with the fact that a body wash is designed to remove body oils from a larger area of skin? I'm not sure, but again, I would look for hand washes that contain shea butter (Soft Soap makes a cheap one!) because I really feel those are less drying in the long run. Or you could even try a cheap body wash that contains shea butter (if the olive oil experiment doesn't work). Also, you can try an organic line (a little more expensive but you can find them at the drugstore) that doesn't contain SLS. Those are VERY gentle but obviously won't give you the same type of lather that we're used to. Hope that helps and please keep me posted! :)

  9. Recessionista, when you explain it like that it makes sense. Thanks for the input. My hands are really taking a beating these days. I'll give Soft Soap w/ shea butter a try (when done w/ my current hand soap) but I bet it won't be as fun as Peppermint Bliss and olive oil. lol!

  10. Anon, you are so welcome! Now watch, I suggest you switch to a hand wash and your hands become drier than ever! LOL! That would be just my luck. :) I wouldn't give up on trying the olive oil though. Maybe you can add a few drops to one of your existing body washes and see how it works? If it's great, then you just saved yourself a few bucks and you don't need to go out and get a new hand wash. And if it doesn't work, then there's no loss because the body wash was drying anyway!

All this talk of dry hands is making me wonder what else we can do to help you out. I suffer from dry hands also (especially during this time of year) and I would love to know what hand cream you're currently using. Because even if your hand soap is drying, you can slather on a good hand cream and keep the dryness in check. Some of my favorite, economical hand creams are Aquaphor (very thick, but great just before bed), and Gold Bond Ultimate Softening Shea Butter Lotion (comes in a tube for around $6). The Gold Bond is something that you can wear during the day because it's not crazy greasy, but it really, really works. It forms a protective coating on the skin yet really sinks in to help the dryness. If you shop at CVS and you have any CVS extra bucks lying around, I would give that one a try because it's definitely worth the splurge (especially at a discount!).

  11. PS: I've also heard that the Gold Bond is a nurse's favorite and they would know a thing or two about dry hands, right? ;)

  14. I'd try moisturizing with pure coconut oil. It's amazing stuff and saves my skin in the winter! It can also be added to things such as scrubs (I make my own) and I'm sure it would work with soaps as well. Just have to be aware that it does have a coconut scent.
