I have a feeling that this week's question is going to get some good, and varied responses (I hope!):
What's your all-time favorite drugstore lip balm?
Personally, it's been a while since I've strolled down the lip balm aisle and seen what new formulations of ChapStick, Blistex, Carmex, SoftLips, Burt's Bees, etc. are out there today. But two balms come to mind when I think about what I've been reaching for lately: EOS Sphere and, believe it or not, Yankee Candle Lip Balm (I know you can't get YC lip balm at the drugstore but I love it and since it's only $2.99 I thought I'd mention it again in case you didn't see my previous review).
With winter quickly approaching, which drugstore lip balms do you reach for when you're in need of some serious lip therapy?
Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment all the way. (It's the yellow stuff in the peach pot that everyone's mom seems to have.) Mostly I'm still using my Dr. Bronner's lip balm, which doesn't really count as drugstore.
ReplyDeleteI've been back to using my ChapSticks in "cherry" and "moisturizer" time and time again because it's the most inexpensive lip balms with great quality. Now that the Santa Ana winds are finally hitting SD again, I find that I'll be using them even more often-- as I always have during the fall season.
ReplyDeleteIt's not drugstore, but cheap, vegan and smells delish - Aromaleigh Aromatherapy lip balm. I have it in like 5 scents and for only $4.85 and regularly on sale for 25% off, its SO worth it!
ReplyDeleteI used to love LABELLO, but have to find a new one.
ReplyDelete*Bzzzzz!*
ReplyDeleteI heart Burt's Bee's. The minty one is my faveeee. <3
Neutrogena (the no color, unscented one)! It's the same as La Roche Posay's Ceralip, but half the price and no gloss at all.
ReplyDeleteAlso, i used to love Blistex Lip Tone (lightly colored), but i no longer find it in muy country :(
Blistex medicated lip balm (i think) is the one I wear every night before bed. Keeps my lips very moist and not flaky.
ReplyDeleteBurt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm, of course! It's the only one that doesn't give me breakouts.
ReplyDeleteI love the original blistex in the blue container. It is the best for dry chapped lips!
ReplyDeleteBurt's Bees! And lately the CO Bigelow lip gloss thingies... Very moisturizing.
ReplyDeleteBurts Bees. However, when my lips get really chapped and dry I reach for good old Aquaphor. However, it probably doesn't qualify as a lipbalm.
ReplyDeleteI recently picked up a tube of Carmex Moisture Plus. It's the best as far as moisturizing/treating flakes that I've used in a long time (Softlips, my longtime fave, just wasn't cutting it anymore). It has one drawback: they tried to make it vanilla scented, but it totally has a blast of that Vicks Vaporub/medicine smell to it. It fades fast but if you truly hate that smell it might be a dealbreaker.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the Lypsyl lip balm, and the Nivea A Kiss of Moisture Essential Care. They both moisturize lots and keep my lips feeling good for hours. The new Chapstick Fresh Effects is decent too, though not as good as the first two for me during this time of year. Great question!
ReplyDeleteso funny i had this on my mind today and the fact that i really don't pay much attention to lip balms till today. i usually wear carmex w/ SPF (hard and dry but i like the SPF) in the morning and that's it. later i felt my lips extra dry and found chapstick (don't recall the kind) in my bag. wow, it was like drinking water. so smooth and moisturizing.
ReplyDeleteLately I've been keeping the EOS in my purse and using it over and over because it's so cute and fun to put on. And very soft and smooth.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I have so many tubes of different varieties of Chapstick laying around it's not even funny. It's like they find their way everywhere and breed like rabbits. LOL!
Right now im using Avon Deep Care
ReplyDeleteits doing the job for now but i think ill need to get a blistex or chapstick soon for the Canadain winter ahhh
correction: i used coppertone w/ SPF 15 =)
ReplyDelete" i felt my lips extra dry and found chapstick (don't recall the kind) in my bag."
burt's bees replenishing lip balm with pomegranate oil or just plain old vaseline.
ReplyDeleteI love CocoCare Cocoa Butter Lip Balm w/ Sunscreen. I have a tube of it in every single place imaginable! I love trying new lip blams but I always come crawling back to the CocoCare Cocoa Butter lip balm :)
ReplyDeleteLip smacker in bubble gum.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty much a lip balm whore now, so there isn't one I always reach for. But for a while, I went through about 10 Softlips in a row, so if it were down to any one lip balm, it'd be Softlips, the cherry or vanilla one.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the ELF lip balms- I use the one in Orange cream. They're ultra soft, but not very protective- Also in that category are my beloved Bonne Bell lip smackers (Dr. Pepper flavor forever!).
ReplyDeleteSo I usually use Burt's Bees with pomegranate or with honey. Boring, but quality.
Ladies! I knew I could count on you! :) Thank you all so much for your fantastic, informative, and thoughtful responses. I now have so many new options to try out, and I hope that anyone who has been in a lip balm rut takes a look at your responses for some new options as well! Thanks again to everyone who responded--you girls are the best! xo
ReplyDeleteI've loved Burt's Bees original for the longest time, but recently I've been liking Lip Smackers Dr. Pepper, it leaves my lips moisturized & smoother w/ less fine lines
