How to squash your Friday fantasies...

It never fails. Friday comes around and the prospect of shopping for beauty products over the weekend takes over. With my bank account like it is, my "Friday fantasies" are just that: fantasies. But sometimes it's fun to imagine all the high-end makeup I dream of buying over the weekend, and it's even more fun to come up with drugstore substitutes that will tide me over and keep me from going into debt. So let me share my fun substitutes with you, along with my high end fantasy purchases.

(Note: I am not claiming that these products are exact dupes. I am merely offering suggestions for wallet-friendly alternatives.)

So if you're itching to spend your savings on some expensive beauty products this weekend, stop yourself and consider some of these fun, low-cost alternatives first.

What's your favorite low-cost alternative to a high end product? I'd love to hear how you satisfy your high end urges. :)

  1. Nyx is a great way to satisfy cravings :) I'm glad you included them.

Btw, I finally got some hard candy!

  2. I was actually planning on picking up that Milani shadow next week since I got one of those birthday $3 off xtra-card coupons.

How do you find your dupes? Reading through tons of blogs or just a google search and hope you get lucky? I was trying to find fragrance dupes (mainly Lolita Lempicka, Pink Sugar, and Harajuku Lovers G) yesterday via google without luck.

  3. Is the beach sand from Milani really a good dupe??? That's awesome :D Totally look that up later :D

  4. Goodness, I was just browsing Nordstroms and Cherry Culture before I had to close the window. I wish listed everything instead. Being broke is so depressing lol.

  5. NYX and Milani are such a great option to get great quality without the price tag. I also love Wet n Wild, but my favorite is the brown palette, Sand Castle I think is the name? I think I've gone through 2 of those already!

  6. Hey Phyrra! OMG, you did?!? Whoo hoo! I am beyond excited to see your reviews! OMG I cannot wait to see what you do with all those colors. xoxo

Hey Papaya Bunny! You are never going to believe this, but with the exception of a few world-famous dupes like Milani Luminous Blush for NARS Orgasm, I discover all my dupes on my own! I have a strange skill for memorizing colors and textures and scents and when I spot something that reminds me of something else, I'm usually pretty darn close. I was given KenzoAmour as a gift, and the minute I sniffed it I knew: BBW Rice Flower & Shea. They smell SO much alike it's hilarious! Have you tried the Pink Sugar dupe I always talk about here on my blog, Love's Baby Soft Sugar Kiss? And also if you want a PS shower gel, Skin Below The Chin (sold at Rite-Aid) makes one that's called Spun Sugar that is spot on. (If you want more PS dupes let me know because there are a few others I can give you!). Oh, and I haven't actually tried Milani Beach Sand but I own UD Midnight Cowboy and every single time I'm in the drugstore and I see Beach Sand I think, "That looks sooooo much like UD MC!" so that's why I included it in this post. :)

Hey ndoodles! Oh gosh, I tried to warn everyone at the beginning of this post that these aren't exact dupes. Sorry if you missed that. I was really just trying to offer some fun, low-cost alternatives to high-end items. :) If you read my comment above to Papaya Bunny, I tried to explain that while I haven't actually tried Beach Sand, I do own UD MC and every time I see Beach Sand in the store it reminds me of it. So that's why I included it in this post. Hope that helps, sweetie! :)

Hi Marie--I agree, being broke sucks. lol. But look at it this way: It's MUCH easier to save up to buy a $4.99 item than it is to buy a $49 item. lol! I hope you can find some low-cost items here on my blog to help keep you feeling pretty. I purchase just about every single beauty item I use on a daily basis from the drugstore so if you ever need suggestions, just let me know. :)

Hey SYM! Oh I loooove Sand Castle too! The browns in that palette are just so darn wearable and easy to apply, aren't there? Great minds think alike! xo
