FIRST LOOK: New L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte and La Laque Lip Colors

Exciting news to share with you today, L'Oreal fans! Longtime reader Fatima spotted some brand new lip colors from L'Oreal at her local Harmon and was nice enough to share details and even swatches of the two colors that she purchased!

NOTE: I haven't been able to find anything about these new lip colors on the internet (aside from trademark info for the names themselves), so I asked Fatima a ton of questions about them. I'm going to tell you everything I know as of the time of this post, but of course more information is sure to be released as we see the marketing blitz unfold soon.

NEW L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte and La Laque Lip Colors

These are twist-up lip crayons that are longer and thinner than the jumbo lip pencils that have taken the drugstores by storm over the past few years:

On the Le Matte tube it says: "Velvety Full Coverage Lip Colour"

On the La Laque tube it says: "Shiny Coverage Lip Colour"

At first glance, these absolutely remind me of the old L'Oreal HiP Colour Riche Cream Eyeshadow Crayons (remember those?). The packaging seems to be almost identical (aside from the printing on the packaging). Fatima pointed out that they're kind of like the Buxom Lip Sticks and, to me, they're also reminiscent of the Shiseido The Makeup Automatic Lip Crayons from a few years back.

As I always say, what's old is new again, and these are certainly not the first long and narrow automatic lip crayons to ever hit the market (I remember a time in the 90s when these were quite popular across all brands). But what COULD be new is the texture.

Fatima purchased one shade from the Le Matte line and one shade from the La Laque line:

Fatima said that, in the display, both the Le Matte and La Laque lip color ranges each contained four shades a piece (I obviously don't know if there are more shades in each range, or if there are other textures to be released, but hopefully we'll find out soon). She said that there were some reds, pinks and nudes in the mix. 

Fatima also noted that the colors she purchased were "not that pigmented" (especially the nude one) and they applied "unevenly on the lips" and felt "dry." She also said that the fragrance and flavor were very similar to the fragrance and flavor of the original L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipsticks.

You know that I'm a sucker for matte lip colors so I'm hoping that, like with many other lip color lines, the darker shades have better pigmentation. As soon as I find these, I'll grab some for review!

On a side-note: It's interesting that YSL makes a nail polish line called La Laque, and that YSL is owned by L'Oreal.
