My new favorite hand soap: Target Up & Up Coconut Cranberry Premium Hand Soap

As most of you know, I'm a hand soap fanatic. I probably review too many hand soaps on this blog, but I just cannot ever have enough. To me, hand soap is one of those things where my philosophy is, "You have to use it anyway, so why not make it fun?" I can't stand boring hand soaps and I'm constantly on the quest for new and unique fragrances to make hand-washing more enjoyable.

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon the new Target house brand (Up & Up) collection of Premium Hand Soaps and I was instantly attracted to the cute, square bottles. And then I saw the fragrance Cranberry Coconut and I knew I had to buy it:

Target Up & Up Premium Hand Soap in Coconut Cranberry
(retail: $1.74, 12 oz)

I think that under two bucks for 12 oz of product is a great deal as far as hand soaps go. Heck, I know I've paid WAY more than that for smaller bottles of hand soap.

As for the scent, I don't recall ever seeing the combination of cranberry and coconut in a hand soap before. But guess what? It TOTALLY works! Right when you think the cranberry note is smelling too "Christmasy", the coconut kicks in and gives it more of a "beachy" feel. This is one mouthwatering combo that I was scared was going to be a disaster. Surprise! It's amazing. If you like sweet, tart, tropical fragrances, I think you'll love this. And if you're a cranberry lover, you definitely need to try this one.

As for the soap itself, I find that one pump is all I need for a good, clean hand-washing. It lathers easily and rinses clean with no issues. I also like the way my hands feel after I use this soap--clean, but soft and not dry or tight.

I also would like to mention that the pump on this bottle is a step above the standard cheapie pumps that you see in a lot of inexpensive hand soaps. This pump has a nice, smooth motion and it doesn't feel flimsy in the slightest.

All I can say at this point is: BRAVO, Tar-jay! I think this is a wonderful little hand soap with a unique fragrance in a well-designed bottle. The soap itself is of nice quality and you sure can't beat the price. This one's sitting on my kitchen sink proudly!

Do you use any Target Up & Up products? What are your favorites? Do you think you'll give this soap a whirl?

  2. Wow, that sounds nice. I will have to check it out. I use a lot of the Up & Up products ie. household items such as cleaning products, toilet paper, contact lens solution, etc. Never had a problem with anything.

rhinovirus: You know, I think I've used the toilet paper as well, and I found it very comparable to Northern! Thanks for the reminder. :)

robin: Ah man, you never found those? I'm sorry, hun! Well these are in the regular hand soap aisle (not an end cap) so hopefully you'll have better lucky find them! :)

  6. Ooh~ I'm curious on how the combination of these two fruits smell now! And for under $2...I think I will. :]

I use the Up&Up eye make-up remover (comparable to Neutrogena's) and I love it. :D

  9. My handsoap trick? Suave shampoos. They are all of 88 cents or so. Sometimes I pick based upon scent and sometimes based upon what color I want in my bathroom for the moment in my clear glass soap dispenser :)

  10. I got this in my Christmas stocking this past year and I love it! It's just the way you described it and I get compliments on it ALL the time! I now have one in my bathroom and also in the kitchen. Amazing scent, great quality, and even more excellent price! I love it.

  11. Oh, if only the computer had smell-a-picture... LOL! Definitely going to look for it this week - here's an odd question for you. Have you tried taking the label off the jar completely without leaving a sticky residue or pieces of the label?

  12. There's a $1 coupon off one Up and Up cleaning item on Target's coupon page. I wonder if that would work for this.

However, I prefer unscented hand soaps as not to clash with scented hand creams.

  13. tiffyama: It's a crazy combo, but it totally works! It's kind of Christmasy, yet kind of beachy. Love it!! And thanks for the rec on the eye makeup remover. I'm currently using the CVS version of Neutrogena. How funny, huh?

Tropical Mind: You're so welcome! :)

Cid Style File: So glad you're loving this line too!

Amber: OMG, I've used those in clear dispensers too! Great idea! :)

Lindsay: Yay!! So glad you love it too. And wow, I had no idea it's been around since before the holidays. Where have I been?? :)

Carla: I know, right?? I can't tell you how many times I've wished I could give you guys smell-o-vision when I'm reviewing a product! And about the labels: they peel off perfectly clean! I just tried, and was able to peel both the front and back labels off with NO problems or residue. The texture of these bottles is really neat--it's got almost a soft, rubbery/suede type of feel, so the label peels very cleanly, no problem.

Purple Green Joy: Oooh, that is a good question!! If you try it, could you let me know? Thanks!!

  17. We were at a Target in Florida (we live in Iowa) last week when I ran across this scent. I HAD to have it, but I decided to wait until I got home to buy it rather than to transport it home. (Good thing, too, because the bottle that we did buy leaked all over. I had it wrapped up.) So, I went to Target yesterday at home and they don't have it. I am devastated. Maybe another Target in the area will have it. I'll check.
I just realized your post is almost a year old. I found you because I did a google search for this soap, and your blog came up.
