Beauty News (New Product Launches, Acquisitions and More)

If you're new to this blog, occasionally I like to share with you various news tidbits related to the beauty world. So here's a round-up of noteworthy beauty news for your Sunday reading...

NEW John Frieda Beach Blonde Smooth Seas Collection
(with the return of an old favorite)

  • Remember back in October I mentioned that John Frieda was going to bring back a fan favorite and that you could vote for your choice? Well the voting is over and they've just made the announcement. Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Sea Spray is BACK (but the name has changed):
"Starting on Monday, November 17 there will be a pre-sale of the revamped Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray on Target.com. The beach spray will be available in 2015 along with three other items."
The "three other items" are new and pictured above. Read more HERE. (Thanks very much to reader Hilary E. for that link!)

The future is closer than you think: Print makeup and smell perfume...from your phone

When it comes to the world of beauty, technology has given us innovations that previous generations could have never imagined. I'm not tech-savvy by any means, so I still think it's cool that I can "try on" hairstyles and nail colors on my phone before committing to the real thing. But if innovations like that seem old and boring to you, there are some technologies on the horizon that may pique your interest. I have my own opinions about these new technologies, but I'm much more interested in hearing YOURS. After you watch these videos, please leave a comment below and let's get this conversation started!

First up:

Would you like to be able to send text scent messages from your iPhone? Yeah, it's a thing and it's coming. But if you don't have an iPhone or don't want to upgrade your iPhone for "scent-messaging", this could be on the way too:

Revlon acquires Pure Ice and Bon Bons (and more beauty news)

I usually try to scan the cosmetics news sites once a week or so but I'm a bit behind right now, so I apologize if the following stories are old news to some of you. I think they're worth sharing though, so here we go:
  • Last year Revlon purchased Sinful Colors. THIS year it's Pure Ice and Bon Bons Cosmetics. I wonder if that means we'll see more dupes and better access to both brands?
  • St. Ives' popular Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub is now officially 100% sulfate-free (as well as paraben-free and phthalate-free).
  • Cargo Cosmetics gets a new owner (which might explain why reader Pocket Witch mentioned the other day that select Sephora inside JCPenney locations currently have Cargo products at 50% off. Thanks again for the heads-up, Pocket Witch!).
  • A new line of nail polish that's not only Big Three Free, but composed of ingredients that are of 85% natural original (wood pulp, potato, etc.).

Beauty News You Can Use

I haven't posted a new installment of Beauty News You Can Use in a while! For new readers, this feature consists of beauty-related news articles that I've spotted in the past few weeks. Since I personally find things like this interesting, I like to pass them along to you (hopefully you'll find them interesting too).

  • Avril Lavigne has paired up with Sally Hansen to create a collection of limited edition Real Nail Polish Strips. You can see a sneak-peek of one of her designs (due to hit stores this April) here.

And just for fun:
Here's a gallery of  TV-inspired nail art. My fave? Saved By The Bell, of course! What's yours?
Black nail polish done right (and, she's 14!). Thoughts?

Beauty News You Can Use

I'm way overdue for another installment of Beauty News You Can Use, so here's a recap of all the beauty news stories I've collected recently:

The newest nail fad: nail stains?

With a name like "Pearanormal Activity", I'm kind of excited to see the new Gud Skincare line from the makers of Burt's Bees

If you need another reason to love Method: they're now making their bottles out of plastic collected from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

Old school 90210 fans: guess who's the new face of Porcelana skincare?

I'm absolutely shocked (insert sarcasm here): a new study reveals that shoppers enjoy looking for discounts and bargains.

Blistex has two new lip products set to hit stores in October.

No wonder Alba Botanica Hawaiian haircare seems to be on sale everywhere I go these days: this line's getting a major revamp.

Did you know that Estee Lauder launched a YouTube channel?

In the latest "why didn't anyone else ever think of this?" news, CVS creates a Guy Aisle.

Launching this month at Ulta, here are the details on the newest at-home gel manicure line.

Does a Sensitive Touch 5 Minute SOS Cream sound intriguing to you? If so, you're in luck because this Lumene product is about to hit CVS.
