The Lipstick League Question of the Week
When was the last time you made a dramatic change to your hair (not just a trim or root touch-up)? Tell us what you did!
G's answer: I haven't done anything dramatic to my hair in quite a while, but recently I chopped six inches off, which is dramatic for me! My hair was a little below my bra strap before, but now it's almost at my shoulders. I feel naked with it this short! But on the other hand, I use less product now, and I have waaaaay fewer tangles to battle.

fanserviced-b - The reason you're going to buy the Dr.Jart+ Firm Lover Rubber Mask is because Dr.Jart+ thought it would be cool to put a rubber-clad baby dom on the packaging. The reason you're only going to try it once is because it's expensive and sucks.
Gouldylox - I spent last weekend at America's Beauty Show in Chicago and one thing was really clear. This trend is so popular, it's about to go from everything to fetch.

I just cut from my "underboob-length" hair to just above my shoulders, got highlights and lowlights! Loving it and how easy it is to curl and dry!
ReplyDeleteBefore that I put in purple stripes maybe 6 months ago. Those were fun, but faded too fast!
Wow!! That's cool! I just cut about 6 inches as well. I was at bra length too and had my hair cut just like Carri Underwood. This summer I'd really like to get rainbow colors. I wanted them last summer but didn't get them.
ReplyDeleteAbout 7-8 years ago I highlighted my hair two different colors on top of my brown hair. It was beautiful, but, those days are over!!!! I haven't done a full cut in about 6 years, just a trim here and there.
ReplyDeleteI got blonde highlights a few years ago.,,my stylist went a little overboard. Saw my in-laws at the grocery store and they didn't recognize me. Last fall I got my hair cut super short last fall shortly before shoulder surgery. I knew I wouldn't be able to do much with it. It was easy, wash and scrunch up my natural waves, super easy.
ReplyDeleteI turned my dark chocolate brown hair with uninvited silver strands into a gold shade with blond highlights last summer and recently touched up the roots with chestnut. I'm ready to go back to black Amy Winehouse, but I have to finish shooting the show first.
ReplyDeleteI went from almost Barbie blonde hair to becoming a redhead and I'm loving every minute of it!!
ReplyDeleteLast August I put a brilliant violet patch in my dark brown (my original natural color, now sourced from a bottle to cover gray) hair. That patch in the back has morphed to larger, broad stripes over about 40% of my (short) hair, concentrated in the front. They are primarily violet, with teal and turquise in secondary roles, and a tiny bit of acid green and of fuchsia. It never occurred to me that zinwould love them this much or keep them this long, but they make me incredibly happy and have initiatied more random conversations with strangers (to this point, all positive or at least indulgently curious) in the last six months than I have had in my entire life.
ReplyDeleteI did the exact same thing last week! My hair was just below my bra strap and now it's just below my shoulders. Same basic style, just shorter. Most dramatic change I've made in years. I keep reaching up to brush my long hair out of the way but it's not there ;)
ReplyDeleteI want to see a pic of your new hair!! I got extensions in November 2014, I kept them for exactly 7 months. I LOVED them, I got them "curly" and they actually looked like your natural hair. It was wash and go for me and I had so much hair. When it was time to remove them, I was seriously depressed. I lost SO MUCH hair. So, as much as I liked them, I won't do it again. I kept the extensions and I bought some clips to clue on them so I can make them clip in.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of freeing to cut that much hair off in one fell swoop, but I know it feels odd, too, to have that length and hair weight gone.
ReplyDeleteI used to experiment more in my college years and throughout my twenties, going platinum or bright red, even going for a pixie in the 1990s, after having waist-length hair throughout most of high school. I think I got it out of my system for the most part.
A couple years back I did put some of that Feria violet color in, just to see what it was like, and then over the winter I put in some of that Ion stuff in red that you get from Sally. Since my hair is dry it soaked up the color really well. But red is too much upkeep, and my roots are getting ashier and grayer, so I just went and put in a cool brown so it's low maintenance for a while.
LOL! My hair is my security blanket. It has been somewhere between belly button and hip bone length for probably 10 years.
ReplyDeleteLast September I had an entire head of highlights (more like thunderstorms Lol!) since they were badly done trying to rid of the badly damaged hair I have had two haircuts bob styled they always insist on blow drying it and the result is I don't recognize myself and look older I think? That stiff classic look doesn't go with me I like it my own wavy as it is and at home I never touch the blowdryer unless I want to look like an electrified cat I don't know how to use it even with the recommended diffuser. I do reach for my Conair big rolls which are magical leaving my curls but more manageable shiny and controlling unruly hairs or frizz but only for special ocassions though. Now I'll use my small Redmington curlers. So two weeks ago I finally got rid of all damaged hair finally and bravely went in for a second pixie cut in my life. But my face is oval I'm a petite'5'3 and always active either running, gardening and cleaning my own house. I have gotten full approval from my sis-in-laws, Mom and hubby he keeps saying 'His girl is back' 'They have returned his girl' Lol! Crazy man! I find it so easy to keep and then would like to buy some cute long beautiful earrings to show them off now is the time. The reason I ended up with highlights I wanted to get rid of the red which was getting ugly more like violet lesson learned. Never again dye strong reds I do play with auburns they go well with hazel eyes and cool skin and love them but no more than that. Also, the person I had my highlights done I have go e to her before without great results either first time she bleached me half head Madonna blonde and I'm so stupid to have gone back to her since she is close to my house and cheap but terrible! My Mom tells me but I know this won't be the end of it cause you love to experiment. Is true! Please, please, know well the hairstylist you choose from trusted recommendations of a sister, family member or good trusted friend they can totally damage your hair. Next, I would like to try a few highlights or avoid them at all cost or just do the coloring contrast in my dark brown hair with some lighter low lights but for now I'm just keeping it healthy probably keep the same or grow into a wavy bob forcwinter but healthy. The hairstylist I went saved me with a great haircut! What I would have paid like $80.00-$90.00 on a pixie style otherwise this guy usually charges $25.00 and is a graduate from Vidal Sasson. My daughter likes him and has been going to him although her hair is straight. This time he only charged me $20.00 for my best haircut in a long time! I'm really happy and satisfied. If anyone leaves in LA I can give you his phone and address if you'd like. Wouldn't it be fun to see all our hairstyles in some page that'll be fun. I'd like to see the rainbow head that sure sounds like a fun great bold move also.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Muse with her hair loose that would be so neat.
About every 1-2 year I grow my hair out super long and then I chop off like 10 inches for locks of love or some other hair charity. I kind of got tired of waiting that long and going that much shorter all of the sudden, though, and this past Christmas I got my shoulder blade-length hair cut into a long angled straight bob that gets shorter in the back. I hated how much I got charged for it @ supercuts because she styled it horribly. My hair was a sticky mess and I do a better job on my own by just straightening it- but I love the cut! It's sexy and edgy but not too daringly short that I don't think I can pull it off. I love roughing it up with a wax spray!
ReplyDeleteNext I'll dye it deep, dark brown.
