I thought it might be fun to post the above pic and have you guess the brand. But in this digital age we're living in, it wouldn't take you long to figure it, so I can't really keep you in any type of suspense for too long.
That said, before you scroll down for the reveal, think about the first few brands that come to mind when you look at these compacts. Got it? Good. Remember that and comment below and let me know which brands you THOUGHT these were from (because I'm pretty sure you're going to be wrong).
Ready?
Keep scrolling....
Almost there..
Here you go:
They're from ALMAY. What?! I know! Thanks so much to reader @helenar3 on Instagram for sharing this one with me. These new compacts are now on the Almay website (links below). I don't think these are actually new though--they look like updates of the original Smart Shade blushes and bronzers that had the small dots on them--I'm sure you remember those!
Almay Smart Shade Powder Blush is available in Coral, Nude, and Pink (Pink is pictured above), while Almay Smart Shade Bronzer is available in one shade, Sunkissed, which is what you see above. Again, I don't believe these are new--Almay just appears to have given these products a (serious) facelift. And I for one am impressed. Almay stepped it up with these, and I hope they continue to do so moving forward!
PS: Be sure to comment below and let me know which brand you THOUGHT these were from--I personally would have said NYX, or maybe Physicians Formula. But no way would I have guessed Almay.
Thanks again, @helenar3, for the great tip!
My first guess would have been Wet n Wild, because of all the Fergie star stuff. Let's hope Almay is revamping its brand; it's been stuck in the past for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was wet n wild too!!
DeleteSame here!!
DeleteI thought Wet N Wild too because you said we'd never guess. Well , you were right, I didn't :)
DeleteLol... Same thing I thought! Wet N Wild... Love the Bronzer one!
DeleteI kinda thought Wet N Wild but I have had them on the brain lately
ReplyDeleteSHOOT I actually thought of Almay after I guessed Physicians formula but I couldn't remember the brand name. I kept thinking of Ardell The black packaging was what made me think it was Almay, looks similar to their eyeshadow single packaging.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was Physicans Formula. These are super cute! Way to go Almay!
ReplyDeleteI thought Hard Candy, but I really don't know why since my local Wal-mart doesn't carry it and I've never seen it "in real life." :-D
ReplyDeleteFirst thoughts were Wet n Wild or maybe Essence even lol...cool that's it's Almay though, I've never tried any of their makeup and pretty much never hear anything about them.
ReplyDeleteLoreal. The design looks a bit like the true match blushes which are pretty nice.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Wet n Wild, then Avon. Way to go, Almay! Huge thumbs-up!
ReplyDeleteMy guess was Neutrogena. I can see how they are Almay by the packaging though.
ReplyDeleteHahaha I thought Kat Von D!!! I'm so lame!!!
ReplyDeleteMe 2!
DeleteI thought it was wet n wild or physicians formula. Almay just never comes to mind for me.
ReplyDeleteTotally thought hard candy or wet n wild!
ReplyDeleteI guessed essence, NYX, Covergirl... But then I thought about it being a brand I'd never guess and Almay was the first one that came to mind. Haha what a surprise! I haven't liked a single product from them though but maybe these will be good!
ReplyDeleteOoh these look so much better than the previous Smart Shade blushes/bronzers. The dots weren't appealing.
ReplyDeleteI randomly thought they were Maybelline or MAC.
Wow! I never really buy almay products so I had no clue! I guessed Smashbox for some reason
ReplyDeleteI thought the Kardashians lol
ReplyDeleteme guessed wrong too... I thot elf
ReplyDeleteI thought it was the Kardashian Beauty brand they carry at Ulta.
ReplyDeleteHard Candy
ReplyDeleteI went with Mac (thats what it looked like but I knew it wasn't.) Then Wet n Wild (cause they have some seriously cute blushes coming soon) and Essence (cause thats what I was hoping for even though I read your post yesterday.) Lol. Cute! Almay had some less than cute packaging before!
ReplyDeleteLol! I thought MAC too! Really nice Almay :-)
DeleteMan, my first thought was Stila, since they do cute designs sometimes for Valentines and the like.
ReplyDeleteYes same!! That or Wet n Wild :)
DeleteI thought elf
ReplyDeleteI knew it was almay because of the grey package
ReplyDeleteI guessed Essence.
ReplyDeleteI thought MAC, and then couldn't think of another alternative...
ReplyDeleteWow! Looks lovely!! I would NEVER have guessed Almay. I thought it was for sure WnW or NYC. I have to admit this new look definitely makes me want to buy it just for the cute design on the blush.
ReplyDeleteWhat??? I went with Wet n Wild and Hard Candy
ReplyDeleteFirst guess was MAC then Elf, I said "whaaaat?!" Out loud as I read the answer lol
ReplyDeleteHaha same!
DeleteOmg I totally guessed it!! It was the compacts that gave it away for me, which is funny because I hardly own any Almay products! These look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking wnw or Essence but then thought that was too obvious and thought maybe something new and exciting from Jordana or Jesse's Girl. I'll be interested to see what else comes along from Almay!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you
ReplyDeleteThought it was Physicians Formula all the way.
I laughed out loud when it was actually Almay! I guessed Wet n Wild and Physicians Formula. Almay is just such a boring brand.. but I love their concealer!
ReplyDeleteMAC then Sephora for the black packaging.
ReplyDeleteI was guessing Cover Girl
ReplyDeleteThey have started stepping up their game.
Aww what! ? It's so cute from Almay!! :D Thanks for a fun guessing blog post! ! :D It made my night!! My guess was Bonnie Bell!
ReplyDeleteI thought it may have been Wet n Wild or Essence.
ReplyDeleteI totally was almost sure it was Physicians Formula
ReplyDeleteI thought of MAC!
ReplyDeleteI would've thought Wet N Wild or Essence. Almay never popped in my mind! Looks like i will have to look into these ;)
ReplyDeleteSeeing the black packaging right away Wet n Wild came to mind.
ReplyDeleteAlmay??!! Is that one for blue eyes and one for brown? LOL
ReplyDeleteYes and the one for brown eyes is shades of blue. I rarely feel comfortable wearing blue eyeshadow, maybe its my age but I don't recall wearing blues when I was in my 30's either. I do sometimes wear a pop of blue eyeliner in the summer.
DeleteI couldn't say who I thought it was, but I was really surprised that it was Almay! Bravo Almay!!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Neutrogena trying to revamp their brand .... Almay has one of the best drugstore foundation (TLC) and no one gives it any credit! The shade range stinks though. GOOD for Almay !
ReplyDeleteOk not gonna lie - I thought these were going to be MAC! The packaging & all.
ReplyDeleteL'Oreal. Since Maybelline just came out with a blush-contour-highlight palette, I thought for sure that L'Oreal would put out a new blush to go with their new highlight-contour compact.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Avon
ReplyDeleteI actually legitimately guessed Almay, because of the star pattern - they had this display everywhere for the "American Look" (with Carrie Underwood I think) and stars featured prominently in the graphics.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was Soap & Glory.
ReplyDeleteI thought they were NYX blushes.
ReplyDeleteTotally guessed WnW or Milani...
ReplyDeleteOh those SCREAM Givenchy to me!
ReplyDeleteI was pretty sure it was e.l.f.! I'm surprised not many people guessed e.l.f. They looked drugstore to me. The cute star design seems like it would appeal to e.l.f.'s mostly younger fans. And e.l.f. makes lots of cutesy stuff like the Disney branded items.
ReplyDeleteI think I may have seen those Almay blushes at Walgreens. I'm pretty surprised it's Almay, though the grey compact looks like the grey tube of my Almay mascara.
Lol, I guessed Almay right off the bat. I wouldn't have normally, but the stars and stripes go with their "all American beauty" marketing. The dark charcoal gray compacts are also reminiscent of Almay.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking Kardashian Beauty!
ReplyDeleteI guessed Kim Kardashian...
ReplyDeleteI thought at first pf but the black packaging had me like hmmmmm then I thought Mac
ReplyDeleteI had guessed Wet N Wild, boy was I wrong! The compact with the stars in the product is really cute and maybe worth picking up on just because of the stars on it. I am such a sucker for packaging , but I can't help it! Thank you G!
ReplyDeleteI used to think your blog was fun, but seriously, must every article be clicked to see anything beyond a picture? With this post, your blog has gone down an unforgivable clickbait hole.
ReplyDeleteHi Jamie. I can't really tell if your comment is of the troll variety or if you're a sincere reader of my blog voicing concerns. So in the event that you ARE a sincere reader, I'd like to address your comment.
Delete1) If you re-read my blog post, this post in particular was written as a fun exercise pertaining to these particular products. When I first saw them, I could not believe they were by Almay, so I thought it would be fun to have readers try to guess, and then see if they were right. Therefore, the brand "Almay" was not put in the title. As you can see by the numerous comments above yours, readers were more than willing to play along and have some fun with this one. These products clearly don't scream "Almay" so that was the whole point of this post. A fun little game to see if you could guess the brand.
2) I am deeply offended that you think my posts are click-baity. I try very hard to tell you exactly what you're getting when you read my blog titles, and I often put the exact end-dates for deals in the titles, in addition to updating post titles when things have sold out by adding "Sold Out" right at the front of the title. As someone who hates click-bait, I would never intentionally make something click-baity on my own blog.
3) I'm not sure if you're aware but, when I did my blog redesign last October, ALL of my blog posts changed no text before the jump-break. This is not an attempt to give you click-bait, it's a DESIGN choice. Without any text on the homepage, it makes the overall design of my blog much, much cleaner than it was before. Since I already have so many things going on on my blog, removing the text from the homepage serves to keep things streamlined.
I work extremely hard to bring readers deals the moment I hear about them, in addition to showing you new products and writing product reviews. I sincerely hope that one extra click to read a blog post isn't too much to ask, in effort to keep things clean and streamlined to the best of my abilities, and make things more easy to navigate for all readers.
Thanks,
G.
I love this G.!!!!! I love you and your blog!!!! I know you have so many faithful readers that love everything you do!!!!! Xo
DeleteThank you so much, R. I truly appreciate that. xo
