I had no idea that blog post was going to become so popular and, if you haven't read it, then you may not know that I mention my favorite products for reverse hair washing in that post, which are TRESemmé Healthy Volume 24HR Body Shampoo and Conditioner.
Well the other day I was at my local CVS checking out some of the new 2016 products, and I stumbled upon a display for the new TRESemmé Beauty-Full Volume Reverse System collection (pre-conditioner and shampoo, pictured above, plus a styling cream, mousse, and hairspray).
The display stopped me dead in my tracks because, to my knowledge, this is the first line of drugstore haircare specifically tailored to reverse hair washing. AND, it's by TRESemmé (again, their Healthy Volume products are my favorite for reverse hair washing).
I am in no way trying to imply that TRESemmé ran with my idea and created this new line (plus, I'm sure I'm not the only one to use their existing products for reverse hair washing). It's just a crazy coincidence, right??? So you KNOW I had to purchase the pre-conditioner and shampoo. I will begin testing these products this week and I will post a full review in a few weeks. And I will of course tell you exactly how these compare to my favorite TRESemmé Healthy Volume Shampoo and Conditioner when it comes to reverse hair washing. I don't know if TRESemmé can make reverse hair washing even better for me with these new products, but I can't wait to find out!
Thanks for letting me share this little story with you, and please check back soon for my full review!
The products featured in this post were purchased with personal funds. For more information, click here.
Well, I think that they were inspired by your post. It's not a coincidence. BTW, I adopted the reverse hair washing when I read your post and it has improved my hair's condition a LOT. Thank you so much.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words! I know that products can spend years in the development stage, so I'm certain it's a crazy coincidence since they were probably working on this line loooong before my blog post! :)
DeleteAt any rate, I'm absolutely thrilled to hear that reverse hair washing is working for you! That's fantastic!!!
I have very fine, mid-lenght, colored and fragile hair. I'm not using the Tresseme products, but some products made by a wonderful company in Quebec, ''Les Cosmétiques Beauté dans l'Ame''. It's vegan, all natural, high quality and you can even choose the fragrance that you want in their list. I always prefer withtout fragrance, but still. The reverse hair washing was an amazing improvement for me. I will never thank you enough.
DeleteAwww, thank you so, so much! I'm so very happy to hear that you're enjoying this method, and that you found some product that work so well for you! Yay!!! xo
DeleteSo awesome!!
ReplyDeleteRight?? I couldn't believe it! I put these babies in my basket immediately when I saw them. Lol! I can't wait to start testing. :)
DeleteI almost bought these at Meijer last week! Then I remembered the 3974620 shampoo and conditioner bottles taking over my shower and decided not to, LOL. I did grab a new multi-benefit type spray from them though.
ReplyDeleteHey Jen! Yeah, I have about the same amount in my shower right now. Lol. But the really sad part is that I probably only use about 4% of them (and the TRESemme Healthy Volume products are used about 90% of the time). I am doing a major purge today to make room for these new products though--it MUST be done. ;)
DeletePS: I'd love to know what you think of that new spray after you try it!
I bought these this weekend (just the shampoo and conditioner)and have used them twice. I DEFINITELY noticed more volume. Like, a lot! I have very fine, thin hair, so needless to say, Im pretty happy. I never tried your technique with original volume shampoo and conditioner though, so I cant say how it compares to that.
ReplyDeleteWow!! That's fantastic! I have fine hair too, so this makes me even more excited to start testing them! Thanks so much. :)
DeleteIs this the same thing as "co-washing" aka washing your hair with conditioner?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not. Please click the link to my review at the top of this post--I specifically mention this at the very top of that post. :)
DeleteI did buy these a couple of weeks ago, and they are pretty darn good! My current routine after the TreSemme, is rinsing my hair with bottle water, since I'm only washing 2 to 3 times a week. I don't feeling like buying my water filters right now, although I should because it's really cold. I'm been using the Batiste powders, and a Phyto matte paste to style, with much less hair spray than I used to. I find everything much less drying on colored hair. Also very minimal drying with a dryer. You can't beat that TreSemme price either.
DeleteYay! So glad to hear they're working for you! That's fantastic! :D
DeleteI saw that new line and immediately thought of you. I loved your reverse post. I'd tried it by putting conditioner in and rinsing and then shampooing and that method was awful, but your take to shampoo out the conditioner -- and use less shampoo than you normally would -- works great for me.
ReplyDeleteAwww, Heidi, thank you (for thinking of me when you saw this!). And YAY! I'm so happy my tips helped!! xo
DeleteI've been trying out the reverse hair washing for about 2 weeks now since I've read your post on it. I have a lot of hair, but my strands are thin. Reverse washing has added lots of needed volume :) I am currently using my usual Clear Active Damage Resist shampoo, which has been working great! (I wash my hair every 2-3 days).
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how my hair is, so I'm thrilled to hear it's working for you too! That's great!!
DeleteI have got to try the technique (I too am at max capacity of bottles in the shower), I keep forgetting and have that shampoo in my hair before I realize it....
ReplyDeleteHaha! I totally understand. I think we're all on auto-pilot most days in the shower, because even I forget sometimes! ;)
DeleteThis is great! Like many previous comments, I too have tried reverse shampooing after reading your post and my hair has never looked better. Thank you so much and I'll be in the lookout for these products when I go shopping next!
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome, Angie! I'm thrilled to hear it's working for you!!!
DeleteJust went on the Tresemme site to look at the ingredients in these and under the How to Use section, it is saying put the conditioner on first, then rinse it out, then shampoo your hair. However, your suggestion is to keep the conditioner in and basically shampoo it out. That makes more sense to me anyway, not what they are saying. At any rate, was just trying to figure out if the shampoo is sulfate free. Do you happen to know?
ReplyDeleteInteresting! Thank you for the info, Carol! On the bottles it doesn's say to rinse the conditioner with the shampoo either, but that it the critical step (as far as I'm concerned!). Also, I just checked the shampoo and no, it contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate.
DeleteUghh.. I hope these show up at Walgreens so I can use my employee discount. I've only seen them at CVS and target (who is currently out of stock)
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing it will any day now! :)
DeleteI've done the reverse washing thing occasionally, but only by accident, does that count? lol I reach for shampoo first but can't read the bottle and realize oops, I've used conditioner first. I can't quite remember what the results were because it happens so infrequently but I do know it isn't some tragic result. :-D
ReplyDeleteSure it counts! :) BUT, my method is a bit different since I strongly suggest using the shampoo to actually rinse out the conditioner. See my original blog post (the one I linked to above) for more tips about that if you ever want to give this a shot. :)
DeleteI cant wait for your review! ever since reading your blog post in 2014 ive been washing my hair this way and i love it!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm so happy to hear that it's been working for you!!! :)
DeleteI love you, but this is not new news! LOL! If you had kinky or highly textured hair, this is something that you would've been doing since you had hair. That's my hair texture and I've been doing it forever.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at my blog post (the one I linked to at the top of this post). I never said this was a new method! :)
DeleteThis is cool!!! I am totally sure that your #1 google article had a lot to do with this!!!!! Don't sell yourself short Missy!!!!! I am convinced that it the last several years product development departments are using social medial like crazy to see what we are all doing, excited about etc!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAwww, thank you so much for the kind words, Robin. :)
DeleteSo, I also have fine strands, but a decent amount of hair. I read about reverse washing somewhere (I don't remember where) because I loved Wen but couldn't afford the lump sum. I won't ever go back to regular washing! I've been using Suave with something volumizing (it's new) and the little tube of conditioner that comes with my hair color. I'll def be waiting to hear how this works for you!
ReplyDeleteI have been using these for the last 3 weeks or so, and they work better than actual reverse washing with regular shampoo & conditioner. Love these! I was surprised!
ReplyDeleteReverse hair washing has been part of my hair washing regimen (when I am not using a cleansing conditioner)...it's funny actually, I started to begin reverse washing after I saw a pin on Pinterest. Then I saw your post, and I had to try it! I gotta say i'm glad I did :)
ReplyDeleteI tried reverse washing - while it initially felt strange, I will admit that my hair was far curlier than normal - I'll be saving this method when I plan to let my hair down again in the future! Thanks so much for all your efforts with the blog, I'm so glad my mom told me about you!!
ReplyDeleteDid you see the coupons in the Sunday paper for Loreal's new cleansing conditioners?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear what you have to say about this product. I have done the reverse washing method before, but I haven't stuck with it.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing this article, I decided to give reverse washing a try. I am now on day 4 of it, and have to say, I LOVE IT. I think the biggest thing I have noticed is the significant decrease in hair loss while showering. I used to have a drain cover pretty much full of hair every time I got out of the shower. Now, there is barely any. I have no idea why that is, but I will take it! My hair feels pretty much the same texture-wise as it did before, but I'll be sticking with this method just for the hair loss reason alone. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI've just lately heard of Reverse washing and have tried it for the past two days with some shampoo and conditioner I already had. I don't like the odd feel of my hair during the process but I'm very impressed with the results during comb-out and after it dries. My fine, straight, thick hair dries so smooth and shiny! I look forward to your review on this Tresemme product. In the meantime, I'll be using up the stock of shampoos and conditioners I currently have under my bathroom sink. :)
ReplyDeleteHi so I bought these hoping to get some volume in my hair but I never apply conditioner to my roots. After I stopped applying conditioner to my roots my hair stopped getting oily quickly. Are you guys applying this pre-wash conditioner to your roots?

ReplyDeleteHey! Hope you've tried this product after Chrissy Teigen shouted at us all the time. Would you post your thoughts after holiday deals madness? Look forward to seeing it!
