Both are $4 each (2.02 oz.) and available on the e.l.f. website now (click a link to view the listing):
Magic Matte Mist and Set
Illuminating Mist and Set
I can't help but think that e.l.f. is referring to the Urban Decay setting sprays in their fine print at the bottom of the above image. What other popular department store setting sprays are exactly $30 and come in multiple formulas? Urban Decay definitely is the first brand that comes to mind.
Just for the record, the UD setting sprays are $30 for 4.0 oz, whereas the e.l.f. setting sprays are $4 for 2.02 oz. So it's not like you're getting the exact amount of product for $26 less per bottle. But it actually works out to $1.98 per ounce for the e.l.f. setting spray, and $7.50 per ounce for the UD setting spray. So that's still a very nice cost-savings if you like the e.l.f. product.
Are you a fan of the original e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set? If so, do you think you'll give one (or both) of these new setting sprays a shot?
I hope these will be available in stores, as opposed to only online. Nice price point and I already use the current one.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling they will pop up at Target, Walmart, etc. soon! (Just a guess, but something tells me they will.) :)
DeleteOooo thanks for this, I LOVE their regular one so I'm already dying to try these two!
ReplyDeleteYou're so welcome! I'd love to know if you end up liking one of these even more than the original. :)
DeleteI got excited about the matte setting spray, but I took a glance at the ingredients and alcohol is #2 on the list. Boo. Not wild about spraying my face with alcohol.
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't even look at the ingredients when I posted. Will have to check them out...thanks!
DeleteAll of the Urban Decay and Skindinavia Setting Sprays contain a HUGE amount of alcohol as well as whatever polymers are in hair spray to have an adhesive effect. The original ELF setting spray only contains the polymers but not alcohol. I have super-oily skin and I'll occasionally use the ELF setting spray when I am extra-desperate for my makeup to last in hot humid DC/NYC summer (special events) and it definitely works. I've heard some people say it's doesn't work for them as well as UD or Skindinavia, but I have tried both (before I knew about the alcohol content in the UD formulas) and ELF worked well enough for me to be happy with it. I have very breakout prone skin and I would rather have all my makeup slide off even with mulitple layers of setting powder (as it usually does within 2 hours in hot humid summers) than damage it with breakouts and alcohol. The ELF original is a really good compromise for those special occasions when I really need the makeup to last. You've got to be really lucky to use setting sprays on a regular basis and not damage your skin.
DeleteJccmz, thanks for identifying which ones have alcohol. Alcohol is a make-or-break thing for me, so I'll definitely be looking into the original one.
DeleteHey -- so I hear that ELF setting sprays are highly fragranced. Have you guys found this to be the case?
I ordered the matte. Fingers crossed!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know what you think when you get it!
DeleteI think I just saw an advertisement for the skincare line at target too. Hope these pop up there soon!
ReplyDeleteYep, the skincare is definitely coming to Target (it's already at Walmart too). That's why I have a feeling these sprays will be in stores soon...they're been pretty good about getting things in stores quickly these days! :)
DeleteThe original is a holy grail product for me. I cannot wait to try these.
ReplyDeleteI would love to know how you think these new formulas compare to the original! :)
DeleteI'm not a fan of the original for 'setting' my makeup, it tends to make my already oily skin worse, but I do like using it to dampen my brush when I use eye-shadow as eyeliner!
ReplyDeleteOh that sounds like a great alternative!! :)
DeleteOld Navy where I live has a large display of ELF. More than what the local Target carries. I am hoping to see these there. I love the idea of illuminating spray! I have UD but I find I only use it for special occasions.
ReplyDeleteYou know I keep meaning to pop into Old Navy to check out their elf display...good to know! Thanks, R.! :)
DeleteI've tried the Elf regular setting spray and I think it's quite nice .. the spritz isn't as fine as UD, but I still think it's a good product.
ReplyDeleteMonica.
Good to know! Thanks! Think you'll try either of these new ones? :)
DeleteThe ELF setting spray did absolutely nothing for me when I used it. To me, its just like spritzing water all over my face. The girl at the counter said its so good and makes me makeup last all day so I guess it definitely has mixed reviews. I am however willing to try the matte version :)
ReplyDeleteI used the original spray in a fashion show yesterday on 18 girls with all different skin tones and textures. Started doing makeup around 11am, finished at 5:30pm, and all throughout the evening none of the models were shiny!! I am super impressed!!
ReplyDeleteI use the Illuminating Mist & Set and I love it! It gives me a very nice glow!
