Changes

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know about some recent changes to the blog, and how these changes may impact your visits from here on out. If you are a loyal reader, new reader, or anything in between, I hope that you'll take a moment to read through this post (thank you in advance)...

  • You may be noticing some funky things happening here on the blog this week, and for that I apologize. I'm trying my best to make my site as easy as possible for you to navigate, and as easy as possible for you to get the information you need. Unfortunately, I'm running into some bumps in the road while trying to implement these changes. 
  • The right sidebar currently has some missing elements. I am aware of this, and I'm in the midst of attempting to correct this. Most importantly, my "Comment Love" section is now blank. I am deeply sorry for that, and I'm trying to restore that information. In the meantime, the top commenters may not be displayed, and this breaks my heart because it's critical for me to give love back to those who comment here frequently. Please know that I'm working to restore this information and I hope it can be fixed. If not, it will take a while for new "frequent commenters" to populate that list.
  • The top menu bar of this blog has changed. If you look at the top (black) menu bar above, you'll see that the quick links are different. Let me explain the new quick links:

WEEKLY DRUGSTORE SALES
This has not changed. This link will take you to my weekly wrap-up of the drugstore sales for this week (which has NOT been updated yet this week, and I don't think I'll get to it tonight, unfortunately. I've been working on blog issues all day and to be perfectly honest with you, I'm exhausted and delirious right about now).

REVIEWS
This link will take you to all of my most recent product reviews. The last 20 reviews that I have written will appear when you click that link, and you can click "Older Posts" at the bottom of that page to read even more reviews.

 HOT DEALS
This link will take you to all of the hot deals that I've posted about recently. This is a great way to see all of the sales, deals, coupons, etc. at once (if that's what you're looking for).

NEW AT THE DRUGSTORE
This link will take you to all of my most recent sightings of new drugstore beauty products. If you want to know if I've recently posted about something before you submit photos, that's the link to click. Again, when you get to the bottom of the page, click "Older Posts" for even more new sightings.

DUPES
This link will take you to anything and everything related to drugstore dupes (or drugstore products that are similar to high-end products, even if they're not technically 100% dupes).  Again, when you get to the bottom of the page, click "Older Posts" for even more dupe posts.

YOU TELL ME
This link has not changed. This is the way to get to the You Tell Me page, to view all of the tips submitted by community members (or to submit your own tip!).

While I'm at it, I want to address the load-time of my website. You may notice that certain elements of my blog have disappeared this week, and there may be more elements missing the next time you visit. The end goal is for me to make my website load as quickly as possible for you (believe me, I know that a slow-loading site is frustrating) so I thank you for your patience as I try my best to get the load-time shortened moving forward.

Also, I want to remind you that, for the time being, the mobile version of my blog has been disabled. This has everything to do with the changes I'm trying to implement and issues I'm trying to fix. I will let you know as soon as the mobile version is up and running, and I hope that the new mobile version will make reading my blog more enjoyable for you on your mobile devices in the future.

    G, even with the minor issues you've addressed in this post, your blog is the greatest. I've spent over a decade designing websites and I can sympathize with your frustrations. As others have said, there's no need for an apology. Coding/design bugs are a fact of life with a live blog/site... improvements are rarely completely painless!

    I love the new links you're introducing. I think it will improve an already awesome site!

    I can't even imagine what it takes to run a blog let alone write one. I just think yours is absolutely fabulous! I can go on and on about all your wonderfulness, but I'm at work doing this o the sly! Lol. The tabs up on top are really great! Especially dupes! Who am I kidding they are equally wonderful!!!!??

    Thanks for the update! This blog has been one of my daily joys for the past year, and now you're IMPROVING it? Awesome! Can't wait. I don't know how impossible this is, but I would love if you had a drop down menu under reviews to search by brand. Currently I use Google and add the keyword "nouveaucheap" to get your specific reviews.

    Your blog is the standout of all the blogs I read. It is wonderful to read the reviews and tips you have. I am currently obsessing over the matte stick type lippies and have been in heaven with the ones you have recently been reviewing! (Can't wait for the ColourPop Blurs to get back in stock!)
    I am liking this new streamlined version of your blog. I know that revamping a system means you will have bugs to work out - isn't that always the case! Just know that your time and work is greatly appreciated in the beauty community. I'm very sure that I'm not the only one who eagerly opens your email blog notice first thing up!

    Hi G! Love the changes, I think the new quick links at the top are well selected. I just wanted to call out one thing I've noticed (and is particularly noticeable now that I know you still have the "You Tell Me" link up at the top)--the "You Tell Me" link used to wrap a bit onto the next line for me on Chrome. Now, it's completely knocked down onto the next line. It's hard to see since it's no longer on a black background. Anyway, thanks for all your hard work!!

    I had noticed the differences in the mobile site but hadn't accessed you from a desktop for a while. I'm glad all the weird happenings I've spotted on this website aren't purely my imagination. That said, you work very hard on this website and anything you do and have to change is fine by me! :)
