The code included in your email is specific to you and can only be used once. This code can be used either in-store or online and here are the ONLY exclusions:
"Not valid on fragrances, Lancôme, Clinique, Dermalogica, Beauty Steals and Benefit Brow Bar Services. Cannot be redeemed for cash or gift cards. This offer cannot be combined with any other ULTA coupon offer. Not valid on prior purchases. Void if copied or transferred and where prohibited by law. May be used on a single purchase and is limited to stock on hand. We reserve the right to limit quantities to normal retail purchases. Limit one per customer, per visit."
Now I'm aware that some of you have not received this code in your email today. I'm also aware that some of you may have received a code for 10% off prestige cosmetics and 20% off everything else. I do not work for Ulta and I do not know the criteria Ulta uses, in terms of who gets the 20% off everything coupon and who doesn't. BUT, I can tell you about my past experiences and maybe that will help!
- I seem to recall that the last time Ulta sent out this coupon, it came in waves. So a lot of people got it on day one, but then another group got it a bit later (I think it was maybe a week later?). So you can hold tight and hopefully you'll get it eventually.
- I know that some of you suggested that perhaps only Platinum members get the 20% off code. Well I can confirm that this is NOT true, because I am not a Platinum member and I received the code today.
- Some have suggested that maybe if you didn't get the 20% off everything code the last time around, you got it THIS time. But I actually just heard from three readers on social media who DID get the code last time, and also got it THIS time. So I'm not entirely sure that logic applies here.
So the bottom line is, there are lots of theories floating around as to who gets the code and who doesn't. I would love to tell you that everyone will get the code in their email eventually, but I just don't know if that's the case. You can always contact Ulta customer service and try to get some additional info as it pertains specifically to you, but I just wanted to let you know everything I know about this code as of the time of this post.
PS: If you DID get the code and you're thinking about how you're going to use it, remember that 20% off will bring the LORAC Ultimate PRO Collection down to $78.40 (which is less than the price of just the PRO 1 and PRO 2 palettes alone).
I just got the email on this and I am super excited! I love when they do the 20% off thing.
ReplyDeleteCan I combine this coupon with their rewards card? I figured since their rewards card isn't technically a coupon it would be alright but I wasn't sure.
ReplyDeleteYes! You can combine with Ulta Rewards!! :)
DeleteI got the 10% one. I wonder what's up with that.
ReplyDeleteSame.So disappointed.
DeleteI only got 10% and I was really looking forward to the 20% so I could buy the vice 3. Going to talk to customer service about it.
ReplyDeleteI got it too and luckily saved up some money to spend at ulta so now I'll be making a huge online purchase and Im saving so much money I'm so excited!!
ReplyDeleteI never get these. I almost like Sephora better because EVERYONE gets their friends and family discount.
ReplyDeleteI got the 20%. I am so curious as to why some didn't!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for the discount! But I wonder how Ulta gives out the codes. Is there certain criteria for it?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if this will work this time, but last time they sent out this coupon, I didn't get one at all so I emailed their customer service and questioned why some people got certain coupons and others didn't. They apologized and sent me a 20% code right away.
ReplyDeleteI deleted it and found it in my trash folder, haha. I guess I should pay more attention to incoming emails that might not be spam. I got 20%.
ReplyDeleteI haven't checked my email yet, but I did get this coupon in my mailbox today! Thinking about trying out the Becca foundation!!
ReplyDeleteWow guys, I didn't realize that not everyone got the 20% off. I just assumed we all did. I spend so much money at Ulta that they should give me 200% off. Maybe that is how they determine it? It is a shame though. Think of the amount of money they could make in extra sales if they gave it to everyone! So I guess Ulta discriminates against some beauty junkies, tsk tsk. :(
ReplyDeleteWrite an email asking for your discount they will send a code
DeleteI emailed them about not getting my coupon, and this was their reply to me:
Delete"Thank you for the email regarding our recent coupon promotion. We are sorry you did not receive one of the 20% off postcards. Unfortunately this promotion was not a mass mailing and not all of our valued customers received one. This offer was sent to a limited number of guests. We hope that your name will be selected the next time around.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you again."
I am so sick of ULTA! I ordered $400 worth of product and the package went missing and they would not resend or refund my money. I guess I will just stick with Sephora.
I almost always get the "better" coupon. I am platinum. I have heard you can contact customer service and they frequently will make it right for you. Hope that helps someone!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the heads up! I just emailed them and it says that I should expect a reply within 24 hours. Will report back with what they tell me.
DeleteI emailed Ulta and they did give me a code, however, when I tried to use it the code said it had already been redeemed. :(

DeleteI emailed them again, and they apologized and sent me a new code that works! Beware though, I know someone else who sent an email along the same lines and she was told that her account was "inactive" although she's made recent purchases.
DeleteI almost wonder if the coupons are based geographically, like maybe certain parts of the country get 20%...just throwing out guesses her. I live in St Louis, and I got 20% off. I am a platinum member and I always get 20%.
ReplyDeleteI haven't received it yet but I also didn't get it last year at all. I don't understand or like Ulta. Only purchases with 20% off that I would make at Ulta are all excluded: Clinique and perfumes. I'll stick to Sephora which allows all brands.
ReplyDeleteI ended up emailing customer service about not receiving the coupon and they sent an apology along with the 20% off coupon. Still wish that Clinique and fragrances were included though.
DeleteI just looked on the ulta website and it said you couldn't uae coupons on the lorac gift set😢
ReplyDeleteYou can't use the $3.50 off $10 coupon or the 20% off that comes in the weekly ads. but this one you can!
ReplyDeleteAlthough it says coupons do not exclude on some items (like the Lorac set), when I added it to my cart and applied the 20% coupon code, it took the discount.
ReplyDeleteI am a Platinum member, and I got the 20% off everything coupon both today and a few months ago (July?). I wasn't expecting one so soon! I've been hoarding all of my rewards points for this day, and yeah I did damage :P (Just to reiterate, Ulta-mate rewards and El Coupon can definitely be combined.) For people who are confused by the " ! Excluded from coupons " notation on most products, this is NOT true in the case of this magical coupon... for most products. For me, it worked on Too Faced, Tarte, Butter London, BareMinerals, and Lorac holiday gift sets. The only thing that it did not work on was the Michael Kors nail polish set, which obviously was not noted in the coupon but appears to be an absolutely no discount item. That said, now that I'm thinking about it, it's always worth a shot emailing customer service and milking the technicality of the coupon language... right? ;)
ReplyDeleteLast time they had the 20% off sale I got both a one-time coupon by email and another one with a different code by mail so I was able to make two separate purchases. I hope that happens again this year because I always forget something the first time ;-)
ReplyDeleteI just checked and saw that I got the 10% one. I wasn't even aware that there were actually 20% off ones that DID include Prestige brands. Thanks for the heads up! It's enough to turn me sour grapes on the ULTAmate experience. ;)
ReplyDeleteLast year I received the 20% coupon via the mail and this year I got an email coupon and it excludes prestige brands. I'm a platinum member in the St. Louis area - I don't think they have any rhyme or reason to it. I sent an email form to their customer service and told them I'm happy to shop at Sephora around the corner instead if they want to treat customers differently.
ReplyDeleteI made a purchase online from Ulta yesterday and then 30 minutes later I received the email with the 20% off coupon in it (ughh), I could have saved over 20 dollars so I sent Ulta an email asking if they could apply the discount after the order had already been placed, I haven't gotten a definite answer yet but I think they might be able to. So today, in the mail I received my 20% off coupon on that post card looking thing. It's got a different code on it than the one I got in the email.
ReplyDeleteIf CS can put my discount through from yesterday can I use the other 20% off code in the store? Or will they somehow know that I've used it twice? It is hooked to my rewards number.
I sent an e-mail to the ulta customer service asking why I only got 10% and they sent me a replay saying "We’re always looking to provide our customers with the best and most personalized deals and promotions. In order to do so, we often test various offers. We appreciate your feedback and understanding. As an apology I have included an online (left code) and in-store (right code) 20% coupon code below." BUT when I tried to make an online purchase it said it had already been redeemed and didn't take. I just replyed with that info and am waiting for a reply.
ReplyDeleteThey sent me a different code within a few hours!
Deletewow I did not know it was for prestige cosmetics too! Man I gotta use this soon!
ReplyDeleteI love this coupon! It works on perfume, Philosophy, etc!
ReplyDeleteDarn, I only received a 10% off Prestige brands, 20% off *almost* everything else coupon. I have had my eye on some Urban Decay and Tarte items, but want to either save up my points and/or use a coupon like this to get a good deal on the items. Hopefully, the next coupon will be a 20% off Prestige.
ReplyDeleteThis was the email I received when I asked as to why I have not received the 20% off coupon.

First let me say I am a platinum member. The 20% off happens twice a year and I have way received my coupons since I started shopping at ulta. Funny thing is that they always email me the coupon AND mail me one both with different codes. So I can do my shopping and I always forget stuff, so I can go back with the Seco d coupon and do more damage. I will say I got the email first and then a week later I got the mailed one. I will also note I spend a lot of MO ey at ulta. I am only three weeks into the year and I already a platinum member til next year.
ReplyDeleteI killed my bank account last time with this - I got my code emailed to me but then they also sent me a flier via snail mail, and the person who last lived at my house got a flier, then my mom gave me hers and my dad got one sent to his house on accident. I just ripped off the part with the persons name and used the bar scanner. Ended up getting to do 5 separate shopping trips and spent more than 2 months rent on makeup I don't really need!
ReplyDeleteI used to work for Ulta. If you are a platinum member you get the 20% off everything, if you are not platinum you will get 10%. There are several coupons that Ulta has, they also have the 20% off on mass cosmetics (drugstore makeup) and usually that one is sent to a bunch of people whether you are platinum or not, but not everyone get that. If you read the fine print it tells you everything you need to know about what you can and can't use it on. People get very frustrated when they assume they can use it on everything and they can't. Sunday is usually the start of a new sale so if you're looking to buy something or use a coupon, always check the dates and shop before sunday just in case.
