Are there any drugstore dupes that you actually prefer over the real thing?
Yes! Believe it or not, some of the In Style fragrances at Walgreens work better for me than the real thing, and I actually prefer the dupes! For example, I'm not a huge fan of Ralph Lauren Romance, but the In Style version is quite lovely. Same goes for the In Style version of Marc Jacobs Daisy. I'm not a huge fan of the original but the In Style smells lovely on me and I get compliments every time I wear it. Go figure!
As for makeup, I know there are a ton of MAC Club eyeshadow dupes out there, and I actually prefer the Club dupe that is in the Wet n Wild Comfort Zone 8-pan palette over the real thing. The base color is more of a reddish/terracotta and I'm just drawn to that color more than the brownish base of MAC Club. I also find that I don't need to build as much with the Wet n Wild version, whereas MAC Club takes a little bit of building to get the pigmentation just right.

I can't think of any specific dupes myself, but I'm just happy that there are more and more good low-price cosmetics options out there. Jordana, Wet n Wild, NYC, Profusion, Sinful Colors and so on. Most of their stuff won't set you back more than $1-$5 and a lot of it is really good.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Real Techniques dupe for the beauty blender. It has a slanted tip that is really convenient.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for dupes! I had a limited edition Sephora palette called "Colorful Story" that got ruined while traveling. MAC club wasn't quite the same but the dupe in Wet n Wild Comfort Zone 8-pan palette is very close! I wasn't willing to spend so much money on a single eye-shadow after ruining Colorful Story. I found out about this dupe on your blog! (Thanks G!). p.s. Good to have you back! <3
ReplyDeleteAaaw, I'm so glad I could help with that. And thank you!! It's great to be back. *hugs* xo
DeleteAny Chanel nail polish dupe! Chanel polish chips horribly on me and if I can get the dupe from Sinful Colors or Miliani then I totally will! I would love to love the Chanel polishes just because of the allure and the price but I just can't
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Polish dupes in general. I'm not usually impressed with HE ones either and know someone will dupe it if I'm patient!
DeleteThis is kinda lame, but the Essence pencil sharpener is a dupe for the UD Grindhouse. And thank god it is because I can't pay what UD is asking for a pencil sharpener!
ReplyDeleteNot lame at all!! I've had mine since my post a few years ago (about it being a dupe for the UD) and I've since bought three back-ups. Lol! That sharpener rocks and you cannot beat the price. So glad you mentioned it for those who may be unaware! :)
DeleteNo this is a good one! I didn't know of it and you're right, UDs is nice but $10 last I saw it was ridiculous. I still have my 'vintage' ones from the sale before they got the new version and believe me they are on thier last legs, held together with rubber bands! Essence here I come :)
DeleteI always bypass that fragrance aisle in Walgreen's without realizing they were dupes for high end perfumes! I'll have to check it out now since I've worn Ralph Lauren Romance, Cliniquie Happy and Viva La Juicy! Thanks G!
ReplyDeleteI have no doubt there are at least a few, but my poor brain is too tired today to come up with specifcs :( helpful, I know. I'm curious to hear everyone else's though! I find many new things this way, some I'd probably have never tried otherwise.
ReplyDeleteNail polish dupes! Good to know about the essence sharpener, I will have to try that out. Also, I haven't bought any but I totally agree with you on some of the in style fragrances smell better then the real thing!
