Lipstick League Question of the Week
Do you have a “signature” scent? If so, what is it?
G's answer: I have definitely had signature scents during various times of my life. In my tweens, it was Cacharel Anais Anais. During my senior year of high school it was Dior Poison. In college it was Body Time China Rain (the original China Rain fragrance and still THE BEST). When I got my first "real job" after college I fell hard for Fresh's fragrances (especially Hesperides) and I recently re-purchased Fresh Sugar Lychee after not having it for many years (I got it during the Sephora sale because I never pay full price for fragrance!). And lately I've been rediscovering old favorites like Auric Blends Egyptian Goddess, Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune, Lolita Lempika and Prescriptives Calyx. I'm sort of on a nostalgia kick when it comes to fragrance right now, and I don't have a current signature scent. I love so many and I'm an equal opportunity frag fan--I love everything from drugstore body mists to obscure boutique fragrances and everything in between!

I don't have a signature fragrance, but instead like seasonal favorites. I tend to gravitate towards white florals and "fresh" scents. The closest thing I have to a signature fragrance is "Bvlgari Mon Jasmin Noir" which I usually wear in the fall/winter. In high school my signature was JLo's fragrance "Glow" and she had a summer version of that too that I loved but I'm not sure of the name (I thought it was "Summer Glow" but it might be "Miami Glow"?). I also loved PacSun's Lilu with the cute little purple hibiscus clip on the bottle. In college I wore "DKNY Be Delicious" and "Michael Kors." For my first big girl job, I wore "Armani Code" a lot. Currently I am loving "Dolce & Gabana's Dolce" and "Fresh Hesperides Grapefruit." I definitely want to try the new Calyx sold by Clinique.
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with Rihanna, the black bottle & Nude. For summer I LOVE MAC Turquatic, even though the scent doesnt last too long. Another favorite which I dont have is Givenchy Ange Ou Démon.
ReplyDeleteI really don't have a signature scent since I suffer from allergies so I can not wear perfumes all the time. I would have to say Prada Candy is my favorite fragrance right now.
ReplyDeleteIs Prescriptives Calyx the same one as Clinique Calyx? I smelled it this past weekend at Ulta but it was by Clinique. It was so lovely!
ReplyDeleteI have been on the biggest perfume kick recently and I am all over the map. Right now I love Dior Miss Dior. But... I was at Walgreens on Sunday and they had these Mariah Carey perfumes on sale for $8 so I bought both and I LOVE THEM! One is called Vision of Love and the other is Inspeerable. I felt like a teeny bopper buying them with the big butterfly cap, but they smell sooooo nice! :)
G, please do a review of the Fresh perfume. I am new to them and would love your input.
Yes, the Clinique Calyx is the same as the Prescriptives version. Prescriptives is now defunct and Clinique has re-launched the fragrance. :D
DeleteThank you so much! That helps me out a great deal!
DeleteI have one "signature scent and lots of alternates! Gucci Eau De Parfum II is my signature, but I alternate with Malibu heat from BBW, a Demetre roll on of Salt Air and various Pacifica scents.
ReplyDeleteCould never have a "signature scent", as I'm always out to try something new, and I mix it up...as in everyday I wear something different. I choose what to wear by season, mood and outfit. Lately I've been into French Lilac by Pacifica, Moringa from The Body Shop, Pure Grace by Philosophy, Gardenia by Caswell Massey, Infusion D'iris by Prada, Léau de Chloe, Tuca Tuca from Lush(has this been disc'd, does anyone know?), Pink Innocencia by Sonia Kashuk, Gingerlily by Molton Brown (omg, LOVE, it was a blind-buy I used Birchbox pts on and soooo glad I did!) Gingerlily is clean and fresh, yet warm and comforting at the same time...hard to pull off in a frag, and another BB pts blind-buy was Ames Soeurs Scent of Soul Mates roll-on parfum, Lolita Lempicka is one I discovered in the late 90's and has been a constant in my frag wardrobe since, I'll always have a back-up bottle. I will also have in my stash at all times Auric Blends Egyptian Goddess and Black Opium.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger I loved men's fragrances. My fav was Chrome, it smelled like CK1. Now I wear Skin from Clean perfumes. Loves it!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of most perfumes as some give me headaches or trigger allergies, and I'm not too fond of the fruity fragrance trend. With the ones I wear, though, I usually change things up from season to season. The original Shalimar is my all-time favorite. I also love Chanel No. 5, but usually in fall and winter only as it seems too potent for summer. In the warmer months I love something my mom always bought, 4711, which is not the easiest to find, but I've seen it at Bed Bath & Beyond with men's fragrances. It's got a nice citrus-y/orange flower/jasmine/bergamot scent, very refreshing (to me). Recently I've found Bodycology's Floral Rush, which is a total flower bomb but I love it, and it only cost me $4!
