What's your all-time favorite drugstore red lipstick?
It's a three-way tie for me: Revlon Matte Lipstick in In The Red (discontinued but you can still find it at Big Lots, etc.), NYC Sheer Red and NYC Retro Red. I honestly love them all equally, although each gives off a distinctively different red-lipstick-vibe!
For me it`s the Wine not by Revlon. It`s a rich matte deep red. I just love the way it looks and it lasts a long time.
ReplyDeleteOh i LOOOOVE It's The Wine! I'm so bummed it's discontinued (it looks like they're phasing out the Matte Lipsticks in favor of the new Matte Balms). Hopefully we'll both find some new reds that we really like in the Matte Balm collection too! :)
DeleteI use 2 red's by Drew Barrymore's line called Flower: black rose and rose bud. I put 1 color on my top lip and the other color on my bottom lip and then press together!
ReplyDeleteOmgosh. Thanks for the info. I purchased some of the nude lipsticks and lip liners from Walmart which is the only place that sells it that I know of where I live. I wondered who made the line. Had no idea it was her.

ReplyDeleteHmmm...Maybelline Red Revival. The formula chaps my lips like crazy but that's par for the course when it comes to me and drugstore lipsticks. Most people seem to like the formula. I've been looking for a dupe.

ReplyDeleteRevlon Matte Lipstick in In the Red is my all-time favorite red lipstick! I still have a tube of that which I'm semi-hoarding, anxiously hoping to find another tube somewhere, or a suitable duplicate. I also love the two NYC reds you mentioned, but my heart belongs to In the Red!

ReplyDeleteYES to both. I just picked up the elf lipsick at Dollar Tree the other day and it's fantastic. Really Red is pretty much a Ruby Woo dupe.
DeleteI wear red lipstick 99% of the time and seriously, I prefer drug store to most of the higher end ones I have purchased. My all time favorite?? So hard to pick but because I am a lover of vintage, I have to go with Revlon Fire and Ice. I love everything about it, including the connection I feel with ladies from the 50s, when it was released.

On a related note: I CAN'T WAIT for the LE vintage lipsticks Revlon is going to re-release! I actually wrote them an email suggesting this and they wrote back and thought it was a good idea! I was on cloud9!
I loooove wet 'n wild megalast lipstick in "Stoplight Red" it is extremely pigmented,and stays on forever,but is definitely on the dry side .I also love Revlon "Cherries in the snow" for a cooler red,and Revlon "Ravish me Red" for a warmer one and they are really moisturizing on me... Ahh so many favorites! :)

I just bought Revlon's Really Red yesterday because I've been on the search for a matte true red ...like a head-snapping type of matte red. I hope this is it...LOL
Revlon's "Love That Red." Classic neutral red, not too matte, but it stays put. Beautiful formula!
