Spotted: NEW Sinful Colors Leather Luxe Collection (pics and swatches)

Another drugstore brand is hopping on the leather effects train. This time, Sinful Colors has done something a little bit different with this new collection that is now popping up at Walgreens. These aren't textured like the Maybelline Vintage Leather polishes, but we'll get to that in a minute!

A huge thanks to readers Heidi, Amy, Pleasant and Leah for the photos you're about to see. Since I received so many great pics of this collection over the past 24 hours (and even some swatches!) I'm able to give you a very well-rounded idea of what you can expect when you see these in person. So thanks again, ladies! You rock!

NOTE: As reader Leah pointed out, these retail for $1.99 each at Walgreens, so they ARE included in the Mega Saver sale at Walgreens this month (all $1.99 Sinful Colors polishes are on sale for 2/$3 now through 8/31). So hurry and try to grab them before the sale ends, if you want them!

NEW Sinful Colors Leather Luxe Collection at Walgreens
(retail: $1.99 each; currently 2/$3 through 8/31)

First up, some pics from longtime reader Heidi:

These polishes have a matte finish, but Sinful Colors has included a clear top coat (not new) in the display, and they suggest that you paint clear, shiny stripes over the matte polish, to achieve a "Smoke & Flames" effect. I'm not sure how this really equates to leather, but I guess the shiny part is supposed to look like patent leather, while the matte part is supposed to look like regular ol' leather.

So you paint your nails with the matte color of your choice in the display, wait for the nail to dry and then "use SinfulColors Top Shine topcoat and brush lines in varied lengths." Here's a photo of the finished effect (aka: Smoke & Flames):

Heidi writes:
There were a couple top coats and 7 colors:
Get It On (a berry hue, very similar to that Berry Charming in the country collection)
Cold Leather (a deep blue, not super dark)
Strapped (a vivid grassy green)
My Turn (a medium gray)
Whipped (pitch black)
Laced Up (a vivid red, veering more toward coral than scarlet)
Leather Loose (a deep bronze-brown/sparkly shade,)
(All the others looked like they were cremes -- I couldn't spot signs of shimmer but there could be in a couple.)

NOTE: As Heidi indicated, this one is a grassy green, NOT teal:

Is it just me, or are you also loving the look of Leather Loose? Check it out:

Reader Amy share some bottle shots:

Amy also shared swatches of all seven shades in this collection:

Loose Leather (with clear top coat)
Whipped (without top coat)

In this photo, only Loose Leather has clear top coat:

And reader Leah shared swatches of all shades except for Cold Leather (blue), with NO top coat:

So I think the things you need to know about this collection are:

1) They're all mattes.
2) You need Leather Loose (well, if you like sparkly chocolate jellies!).
3) Strapped is a grassy green, not a teal.

Once again, try to find this collection at Walgreens before 8/31, so you can get them on sale for 2/$3! Oh, and you could use that matte black in this collection and some pastel nail art stripers to create the same Chalkboard effect that you can get from the Revlon Chalkboard Nail Art duos!

A huge, heartfelt thank-you to Heidi, Leah, Pleasant and Amy for the awesome photos and info. I am so grateful!

  1. I was just at Walgreens a few hours ago getting more Revlon enamels. I saw a SC display of some glitter polishes that I have to have. I totally missed the MegaSaver deal. Thanks G! I will go back this week to check for this display also.

  8. I went to my local Walgreens looking for this collection. I found it- along with another new collection called Hot Shine. It looks like a Sinful Shine collection because the bottles had the metallic caps and they were $2.99 instead of the usual $1.99 (or 2 for $3 during this current sale). 1334 Patent Pleasure, an orange/coral. 1333 Shine Divine, blue-ish teal. 1338 Mirror Mirror, Deep plum. 1335 Go Glossy, another deep plum, but not as deep as Mirror Mirror. 1336 Slick, Medium-dark purple frost. 1339 Who's the Gloss, grey-purply duochrome? 1337 Sleek, Turquoise. 1332 Rise & Shiner, green-ish teal. Can't wait to swatch them!

  10. Found this collection at the Walgreen's in Apple Valley, CA. Hwy 18 and Bass Hill Rd. There WAS a full display when I got there. Hehe. I bought Leather Loose and Whipped. Laced Up is a bright, yet deep orangey coral shade.

  11. I need Whipped, Leather Loose, and maybe Get it on. I don't like the way Leather Loose looks with the top coat though. It looks much better matte.

  12. Good heavens, I have to get them all! I picked up some 'pleather' type of polish at Forever 21 last weekend. I didn't know they were the leather-type until I swatched them. There was nothing on the bottle stating they were different.

  13. Loose Leather is gorgeous with a topcoat!! I absolutely love it, and when I first saw it it reminded me of Maybelline's Color Show "Twilight Rays." But the sparkles in Loose Leather are smaller and more orange. :)

  14. I was so annoyed. I found the display at my local Walgreens and bought Get it On and My Turn. I saw this post and decided to go back and get the rest. Some bright bulb decided to fill in the display so it wouldn't look so empty and of course I couldn't remember the names of the remaining colours except Loose Leather & Whipped. I found those and searched the rest to see if any colour names jogged my memory but none did. I do know that I would have recognised Cold Leatther but that colour wasn't there.

It really really really (really!!) tweaks me that they filled in the display. It's a collection...how are you supposed to know which are part of the collection and which aren't?
