I"m bringing back some older series topics for 2013, with more From the Vintage Vault posts planned and, due to popular request, I'm also bringing back Drugstore Classics Revisited. You'll also see some more men's product reviews from Mr. G., as well as more Five Buck Friday, Reader Spotlight interviews, What I'm Loving Right Now posts and I'm also going to bring back the reader-submitted holiday nail art round-ups, so get your thinking caps on for Valentine's Day designs!
But today I'm bringing back the Have You Tried...? series because I think this is an invaluable way to get your feedback on products that I haven't tried yet, or maybe will not get the opportunity to try/review for quite some time (a girl can only use so many products, right?).
So for this installment of Have You Tried...?, I want to know if you've tried this candle from Bath & Body Works. I've been eyeing it for a few weeks now, but I have not seen it in person or sniffed it yet. Do I need to rush to my local B&BW asap and seek this out, or would you say it's a "skip"? Tell me, please!

Bath & Body Works London Calling Scented Candle
(retail: $20 at Bath & Body Works, but often on sale for less. 14.5 oz)
Bath & Body Works describes London Calling as: "A royal blend of tea, lemon and sugar." This sounds like a can't-miss candle for me, but you never know with BBW.
So I just have to ask: Have you tried Bath & Body Works London Calling yet? Thoughts? And if you haven't tried this candle yet, does it sound appealing to you?
I wasn't a huge fan of this!
ReplyDeleteIt smells exactly like the description states -- but I wouldn't like burning it in my house so I didn't buy it. I like lemon tea but I don't want my room to smell like it .... unless I was sick lol
ReplyDeleteI love tea, and I thought this was going to be a subtle "hot tea" scent, but it smells just like the Iced Tea Twist scent they had several years back under their Temptations line (which I also stocked up on when it came out).
ReplyDeleteB&BW also has a Moroccan Market one that smells really good -- really spicy and incense-y.
I remember the Iced Tea Twist and I really liked it! My mom happened to love it and she stocked up on it. I actually might try this candle if I can get my hands on it
DeleteAaaah, I remember that one too! It reminded me a bit of iced lemon tea powder mix, a opposed to real black tea with lemon, but I thought it was a really fun summertime scent because of its sweetness. :)
DeleteI agree that it smells exactly like the Iced Tea Twist lotion from a few years back. I had the Pumpkin Pie and Banana Smoothie flavors, too. The girls at B&BW think I'm crazy because I always compare new stuff to scents they had YEARS ago. Anyways, I LOVE this smell. Bought one for a relative for Xmas, but they were sold out when I went back during the semi annual sale. :(
DeleteIt smells exactly like it says and I smelled the others in that new line and fell in love with 'Paris-City of Love'. It is subtle and smells good. I like the design on the candle lids too! that kinda attracted me towards them as well.
ReplyDeleteI've got to try the Paris one!
DeleteOH my goodness. I would definitely seek this out. DO IT. I love drinking black tea with milk and sugar though I've never thought of its aroma. But the fact that there is lemon in the scent might put me off.. But I've lived in London for a while and love all things London, so I'm biased.. :)
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried this one but winter garland is a must have :)
ReplyDeleteIf they have it in ur bath and body works I'm running to get it myself. I wanted this candle, I sniffed it, I loved the perfect amount of citrusy smell, and I fell in love w it! Oh I wanted it so bad! But as I put it down to sniff another candle it was taken from me =( that person got the last one! That's what I get for not making up my mind faster....oh but there were so many candles! It was so hard to choose! I ended up with 2 of the Paris city of love, which is amazing too.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when that happens! :(
DeleteIf u like clean smells, which I looove, then u will love this too. I love the citrus scent to it.
ReplyDeleteI sniffed it in the store, it smelled pretty good. But I also didn't know if I wanted my house to smell like that. The only other candle I smelled from that line was the Moroccan one that was already mentioned...not a fan of it at all.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like it - it made me feel queasy. I had to give it away to a friend.
ReplyDeleteI like tea scents but this doesn't do it for me. It's more lemon-y than tea WITH lemon. There's very little sugary-ness to it that it's not a sguary lemon candle though or maybe the tea cancels it out and the lemon cancels out the tea... My family thinks the house smells like paint thinner when I burn London Calling though. It's an overall dud for this household :\
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ashley. Very little tea scent. More like artificial lemon, unfortunately.
DeleteI have two of these because I really liked the scent and my fiance LOVED the scent, but I haven't tried burning it yet. It does smell exactly as it is described.
ReplyDeleteWeirdly, my b&bw had all these "location" scents in wallflower but only 1 or 2 in candles. I got the Moroccan wallflower on a whim and it was a poor choice... Smells like a strong, cheap men's deodorant, maybe Axe body spray or something.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of tea so I couldn't wait to try it. I love it, but do agree that the lemon overwhelms the tea, but it's still a great scent. Get it :)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to like this but it really is just tea and lemon (which seems more like American iced tea than British tea to me.) I love tea but I'm not a citrus fan so it's a pass for me. Such cute packaging though!
ReplyDeleteI haven't smelled this one, but I picked up the Meet Me in Tahiti candle in this same line. It's supposed to smell like "white sands and vanilla," but it just smells like bubblegum. Which is not what I bargained for. It's going back to BBW when I get a chance, along with the Salted Caramel 3-wick I picked up a while ago with a drowning wick. :(
ReplyDeleteMmm, salted caramel is one of my bbw favs. I haven't been to bbw in a few months, but now I've got a reason to go to check out London Calling. I love tea, I'm a fan of The Clash...so I like the name, plus I fancy the image on the label!
DeleteMmm, salted caramel is one of my bbw favs! As far as London Calling goes I haven't been to bbw in a few months, but now I have a reason to go. I love tea and I'm a fan of The Clash, plus I fancy the image on the label. Gotta check it out!
DeleteI love The Clash too (I was literally just listening to The Guns of Brixton a few minutes ago!) and the first time I saw the name of this candle I immediately thought of them. :)
DeleteThe second I saw this I HAD to buy it! The smell is not only lovely and homey but my husband likes that it's not floral AT ALL. It's a great, unique, scent. :)
ReplyDeleteNice cosmic cawinkydink! Earlier in the eve I was at Starbucks and they were playing Lost In The Supermarket. :D
ReplyDeleteSkip it!!
ReplyDeletei bought one for me and the person i had for my secret santa this smells exactly like a cup of tea with lemon and i love it!!!!! it even reminds me of a pitcher of ice lemon tea being im a big fan of all types of tea its safe to say this is one of the best scents bath & body carry.
ReplyDeleteIt smells AMAZING. I loved it at first sniff...and then bought two! Plus, a tip: if you get it home & don't like it, B&BW has a 100% guarantee and you can always return/exchange it for something you DO love. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like it. It's more of a sugary lemon with a hint of bergamot, which suggests an Earl Grey tea. However, that being said, it's a very nice scent overall!
ReplyDeleteI love this scent! I smelled it in the stores and I almost died. I love tea and lemon. This didn't have a strong tea scent, but it didn't smell like straight lemon either. I haven't tried burning it, but from just smelling it in the jar I really liked it. I haven't liked the smell in the jar and not like the actual burning scent. I even purchased the New York, New York candle, and the Paris candle. The Paris candle smells like some sort of old spice. It has a fresh water scent to it. The New York candle smelled like apples!
