I don't know about you, but I'm prone to bouts of insomnia, especially around the holidays. My mind's always racing with things I need to buy, things I've forgotten to buy, people I need to call, etc. etc. and the list goes on. So I thought this review might come in handy if you're a bit stressed during this time of year too, and need just a little bit of calm at bedtime.
Badger Sleep Balm
(retail: $9.99 for 2 oz, $5.99 for 0.75 oz)
I was sent this product for a review a while back, but I've been working my way through other items that Badger also sent me, and now I'm really regretting that I didn't open this one sooner. I've been using it at bedtime for the past two weeks and it's winner, my lovelies.

The aroma calms and relaxes, allowing for a peaceful transition into sleep.
I love so many things about Badger as a company, and one thing I always think about whenever I use their products (you know how much I love their Cuticle Balm), is this bit of info I read on their website:
...because the USDA Organic Certification is a food-grade standard, our ingredients are even pure enough to eat! Badger's USDA Certified Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil comes from a single estate in Southern Spain, and that very same Olive Oil is used by Michelin Star-winning chefs in France and Spain!
There's something extra special about knowing that the olive oil in this product is not only good enough to eat, but is probably quite delicious when used for cooking purposes. I feel so decadent when I rub Badger products into my skin, which is crazy considering how inexpensive their products are. I received the 2 oz tin ($9.99) which is quite large and will last forever. But they also offer a smaller tin (the size of a lip balm) for $5.99.
The product itself is very solid in the tin, so you'll have to use the back of your fingernail to "dig" a little out. But once it comes in contact with your skin, it liquifies easily and spreads smoothly (not grainy at all). I've used this product on my lips before bedtime (I love the earthy flavor of rosemary and ginger) and I've also worked a little bit into my temples, as well as my shoulders and neck. I've even used it on my hands and cuticles, with wonderful results. Don't worry that the ginger is going to feel tingly on the skin--it doesn't.
I obviously can't guarantee that this product will help you doze off but, for me personally, it's a calming product that helps bring me a little peace at bedtime. The smell is quite soothing to me, in an earthy, natural way, and the feel of the olive oil (once it liquifies on the skin) feels like a soft blanket on my neck and shoulders. For me, this is an essential night-stand product. I love it.

I am going to have to find some of this! I love the aroma of ginger and lavendar.
ReplyDeleteI had this in my hands at Whole Foods the other day and put it down. I love lavender, so this sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI need this in my life! With Christmas looming, I've been having so much trouble sleeping. Definitely going to purchase this.
ReplyDeleteI purchased the Badger Cuticle Care (because of your wonderful post) and have no regrets! This Sleep Balm could be great for stress relief or travel. I'll think about getting this as a gift. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try this out. Thanks for the review. They sell it at drugstore.com, where I often shop.
ReplyDeleteThis works wonderfully for my son with autism who has massive sleep issues. Love this product!
ReplyDeleteAs a migraine sufferer, I swear by their Headache Soother. Amazing product - I highly recommend it to anyone who suffers from chronic headaches/migraines.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I was going to ask about the Headache stuff, as I get chronic headaches. I have their cuticle balm, I now need to try the headache one as well!
DeleteI might have to pick this up. I constantly have trouble falling asleep (stupid stressful job!), and I've been considering something like this to use after my nightly warm bath (it really does help get me in "sleep" mode). Can't hurt, just hope it doesn't cause breakouts. I've never tried this kind or product before so I will have to see how my skin reacts.
ReplyDeleteI have insomnia and I take some meds for it, so I doubt this would help, but I like the idea and it sound like it smells good.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, LOVE their cocoa butter lip balm. It's become a staple for me, as has their sleep balm and their other balms.
ReplyDeleteI actually feel jealous of ppl with insomnia since I have the extreme opposite called hypersomnia and its so new there is no real treatment yet. Can't wait until the drugs come out to treat it! Maybe badger will make an awakening aromatherapy balm? I miss sleeping normal amounts and being active, enjoying my body. I miss that a lot. *sad face* But reading your blog makes me happy.
