It's time again for me to crack open the vault and share with you some vintage makeup from my collection. Today I have two lip products to share with you. The first is the lip product that started my obsession with lipstains. Yep, the one that started it all.
Keep reading for pics!
Estee Lauder Real Rouge Lip Tint
(circa 2002)
Smaller than a standard bottle of nail polish, this little bottle of lip tint rocked my freaking WORLD. I believe the bottle you see here was my third bottle.
I believe that BeneFit Benetint took the makeup world by storm in 2001, and this was probably Estee Lauder's response to that product (I believe this came out in 2002). I remember reading mixed reviews about Benetint at the time and even though I was intrigued, I never made a purchase.
A very dear friend who knew of my fascination with these new (at the time) lipstain products gave me Estee Lauder Real Rouge Lip Tint in 2002 and it really changed my entire perception of lip color. I loved the "just ate a bowl of strawberries" look that it gave my lips, and how transparent and natural-looking the finish was (not to mention the staying power). And thus began my decade-plus obsession with lipstains that is just as strong today as it was in 2001.
If you can guess this lipstick, I'll give you $100 (not really, but it's fun to say that):
This insignia is the letter "B":
Long before there were these, there were these lipsticks by BeneFit:
BeneFit Lipstick in Snickerdoodle or Mocha Frosting (not sure which)
(circa: 2002)
Oh this lipstick takes me back. I was in a frosty light brown lip color phase from about 1999 - 2003, and I remember that two shades from BeneFit (which was still a new brand at the time), were my go-to shades: Snickerdoodle and Mocha Frosting. The label on this lipstick fell off, so I don't know which one this is (they both looked pretty similar, if my memory serves me correctly).
Thanks for taking another stroll with me down memory lane. Do you remember either of these products? Did you own them back in the day?
I totally used to buy Ruby Vibes in that same BeneFit tube. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Benetint to this day! I especially love it on my cheeks in the summer with no foundation. Anyway I did not recall the Estee Lauder lip tint. Hmmmm. Also I thought your lipstick was Club Monaco Glaze of Monica Lewinsky fame. The tubes are that close!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing! So cool to see the old Benefit packaging!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see what the lip tint actually looks like swatched or on the lips! It looks like it would be so pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeneTint goes back to the 70s. It was their very first product.
ReplyDeleteI love these posts G :) Both of these products look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI had that Benefit lipstick, but in "Bag Me Baby" and I remember I lost it in a carpool (this is circa early 2000's). I splurged at one of their few retail stores. I love the flashbacks.
