(UPDATE) Cheapie Awards 2012: Nominate your favorite product for the Readers' Choice Award

It's that time again, dear readers! Think back to all of the affordable beauty products that were released in 2012 and tell me your absolute favorites. You may nominate any type of beauty product: makeup, skincare, nail color, haircare, body care, fragrance, makeup tool, etc.

The rules:

  • You may nominate individual products (example: "Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color in Polar Purple") or entire collections (example: "Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color Collection")
  • No limited edition products (permanent/core collection only)
  • The product/collection must have been released in 2012
  • It must be considered a drugstore, mass market or low-end product

If you're not sure if something was released in 2012, don't worry. Go ahead and nominate it in the comments and I'll determine if it was released in 2012.

I'll leave the comments open on this post for around two weeks, at which time I'll take the most popular reponses and put them in a poll on the right-hand sidebar of this blog. Then you'll be able to vote for your "official" favorite and I'll announce the winner in my Cheapie Awards post at the end of year.

Thanks in advance for your nominations. This award is all about you and YOUR favorite products, so let your voice be heard and tell us what you loved this year!

UPDATE:

I've noticed that there are some higher-end products being nominated here. In keeping with the theme of this blog (and the Cheapie Awards), please stick to drugstore, mass-market and lower-end products. Thanks so much!

Revlon Lip butters were released in the fall of 2011 and actually won the Readers' Choice Award for Best New Product of 2011. Therefore, this collection is not eligible for consideration for the 2012 Cheapie Awards. Since there were several other popular nominations for products that actually came out in 2011 (Maybelline Baby Lips, Jordana Best Lash Extreme Mascara and many others), I've put together a "refresher list" of products that were released in 2012 and received lots of buzz on this blog (note: technically, some of these products first surfaced in stores in late December of 2011 but are considered 2012 releases since they did not have widespread release until 2012). Hopefully this will help you to get a better idea of what was released this year, and what you might like to nominate:

    1. The Revlon ColorStay Lip Butters. I've never liked using lip products until I ran into a sample of these babies, and now I own three.

    2. Are you talking about the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains??? Those are the first thing that comes to mind when I read this post. They, I think, would be my #1 pick. I started with 2 colors and now have all 12 colors in my personal collection. AND, several of each in my professional kit!

    3. Yes, the balm stains. I knew I didn't quite have the right name! I of course just call them "the revlon lip stick that looks like the clinique chubby stick" haha.

  2. I would like to nominate the Maybelline Color Tattoos.

    1. I second this (if they were released in 2012). Bad To The Bronze is my go-to eye shadow to "open" my eyes.

    3. Another nomination for the Maybelline Color Tattoos - they are definitely worth the money.

    1. oh also the infallible shadows (technically here they were released in summer of 2011, but if they count in your list then great)

  5. Maybelline baby lips. I love every one of these lip balms

I am not sure if its new or just new to me since I live in the boondocks but Everlasting Sunshine Conditioner from Suave smells great.

    Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

    1. I do love the UD Naked 2 but I think that their reformulated shadows, in general, should be nominated :)

  6. Ohh definitely the Revlon LipButters, they've revolutionized the way I use balm. By that, I mean I actually consistently wear lip balm because it's balm+color all in one, they last forever, and they fade away gracefully. Didn't even know that was a thing haha!

  7. L'oreal Infallible eyeshadows (if they're new, not sure.)
    Revlon balm stains
ELF HD blushes (the MUFE dupes)
Milani Powder eyeshadow (the new round ones)
Wet n Wild Megalast nail color

If LE products qualified, I'd have so many more!

    2. I want to add a specific shade to this: Romantic balm stain is my favorite!

      Delete
  8. E.L.F. Essential Lip Stain (fav. shade: Crimson Crush) because it doesn't dry my lips out, wears well and is a bargain at 2 bucks! It's great to buy multiples and toss them in various bags so I always have one with me.

E.L.F. Mineral Infused Face Primer. It makes my skin look and feel like silk and never feels greasy.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Shadows. (Fav. shade: Bad to the Bronze) It's the ultimate quick-to-apply, long wearing shadow. I own almost every shade.

Milani Glitzy Glamour Gloss: (fav. shades Puttin on the Glitz and First Class) Oooh! High shine and it *does* make me feel glitzy in one quick swish! I love that it feels like a power-gloss going on/worn, but it not goopy.

Jordana Color Effects Eyeshadow Duo (fav. Good Match) It's hard to find long wearing matte shadow that's good for a natural, get-out-the-door-in-hurry shadows, but this duo is a major winner.

Maybelline Bouncy Blush (Fav. Pink Frosting) It's not the longest wearing, but it holds up well enough. I love the quick application/touch ups without a brush. It's also a perfect color to add a pop of color to the cheek and lift my look in a hurry.

Can you tell I am all about hurrying? After years of wearing makeup I like fast a lot more than ever before and modern makeup is really good at fast.

    - Sleek Be Beautiful Blemish Balm
    - Avon Solutions Total Radiance Day and Night Creams (I'm not sure when these came out, but I just started using them this year. They're very cheap and by far the best moisturizing combo I've found so far. They are defiantly worth trying out, esp. when they go on sale)

  15. L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows. If we're getting particular, I love Bronzed Taupe. Creamy, great pigmentation, wears for a very long time, and if it fades (which is after many, many hours), it fades evenly.

  23. Ok, so I have tried both the Revlon Lip Butters and the Maybelline Baby Lips but did not like either one of them. Am I the only one?? The Lip Butters would gather a gross line on the inside of my lip and the Baby Lips dried my lips out :(
Anyway, I already mentioned the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and how much I love them. I also love the e.l.f. Small Stipple Brush, the e.l.f. Small Tapered Brush and the e.l.f. Flawless concealer Brush!

    2. I don't like the lip butters either. they seem to be regular lipstick, and dry my lips out. my old avon lipsticks have the same feel when wearing them, which is why they are still sitting in a drawer looking like new after 10 years.

  78. Spoiled glitter nail polishes. They don't skimp on the glitter and some of the combos are fairly unique. I'm a big fan of Stack the Deck, Jewelry Heist, and Trust Fund Baby.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think CeraVe released their facial care line this year. The PM moisturizer should have been a bigger buzz. It's a light moisturizer that is extremely gentle for really sensitive skin like mine, has anti-aging ingredients that should make this a much more expensive product like tons of ceramides, and no fragrance. It also comes packaged in a pump bottle that keeps it mostly free from bacteria, light, and air contamination.
The Maybelline fashion week collection of duochrome polishes. I especially nominate Boho Gold. It's a unique color that I never get tired of looking at.

  91. My favorite find this year has been the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. I have all the colors, but in particular I keep going back and using Honey, Adore and Romantic.
Coming in second would be the Maybelline BB cream, since I'm actually using it up and considering buying more, that's a good sign.

  101. I would like to nominate L'Oreal Colour Riche Nail Polishes. The colors are lovely, and they wear well.

  102. Color Stay Whipped Creme Foundation
Best foundation in years. Awesome texture, staying power, not "heavy", doesn't settle in whatever fine lines might be hinting at appearing on my skin.
Also, Pond's Original Wet Cleasing cloths.

  105. I've really, really liked the Spoiled nail polishes this year! My actual favorite, though, would have to be the Meutrogena ultra gentle daily cleanser. I love it so much!!! It's like baby angels kissing away all the dirt and oil, that's how gentle it is on my skin. <3

  106. Suave Keratin Infusion haircare products, particularly the color care shampoo and conditioner. I'd been hunting for my holy grail combination and decided to quit wasting my money on expensive salon products and give the new Suave Keratin Infusion products a try and I'm completely in love!

  107. Ooops, revising my nomination since the Lip Butters were a 2011 release (and winner)
I think the Milani Shadow Eyez deserve a chance! Your review (and many others) had me buying all of them and they were a MUCH better investment than even the NYX or Makeup Forever eyeshadow pencils I have.
