It's that time again, dear readers! Think back to all of the affordable beauty products that were released in 2012 and tell me your absolute favorites. You may nominate any type of beauty product: makeup, skincare, nail color, haircare, body care, fragrance, makeup tool, etc.The rules:
- You may nominate individual products (example: "Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color in Polar Purple") or entire collections (example: "Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color Collection")
- No limited edition products (permanent/core collection only)
- The product/collection must have been released in 2012
- It must be considered a drugstore, mass market or low-end product

Revlon Lip butters were released in the fall of 2011 and actually won the Readers' Choice Award for Best New Product of 2011. Therefore, this collection is not eligible for consideration for the 2012 Cheapie Awards. Since there were several other popular nominations for products that actually came out in 2011 (Maybelline Baby Lips, Jordana Best Lash Extreme Mascara and many others), I've put together a "refresher list" of products that were released in 2012 and received lots of buzz on this blog (note: technically, some of these products first surfaced in stores in late December of 2011 but are considered 2012 releases since they did not have widespread release until 2012). DeleteAre you talking about the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains??? Those are the first thing that comes to mind when I read this post. They, I think, would be my #1 pick. I started with 2 colors and now have all 12 colors in my personal collection. AND, several of each in my professional kit!

DeleteE.L.F. Essential Lip Stain (fav. shade: Crimson Crush) because it doesn't dry my lips out, wears well and is a bargain at 2 bucks! It's great to buy multiples and toss them in various bags so I always have one with me.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Shadows. (Fav. shade: Bad to the Bronze) It's the ultimate quick-to-apply, long wearing shadow. I own almost every shade.
Milani Glitzy Glamour Gloss: (fav. shades Puttin on the Glitz and First Class) Oooh! High shine and it *does* make me feel glitzy in one quick swish! I love that it feels like a power-gloss going on/worn, but it not goopy.
Jordana Color Effects Eyeshadow Duo (fav. Good Match) It's hard to find long wearing matte shadow that's good for a natural, get-out-the-door-in-hurry shadows, but this duo is a major winner.
Maybelline Bouncy Blush (Fav. Pink Frosting) It's not the longest wearing, but it holds up well enough. I love the quick application/touch ups without a brush. It's also a perfect color to add a pop of color to the cheek and lift my look in a hurry.
Can you tell I am all about hurrying? After years of wearing makeup I like fast a lot more than ever before and modern makeup is really good at fast.
I nominate Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deeeeep Conditioners. It's an amazing deep conditioner that does the job, it really is a miracle in a bottle!

L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows. If we're getting particular, I love Bronzed Taupe. Creamy, great pigmentation, wears for a very long time, and if it fades (which is after many, many hours), it fades evenly.

Ok, so I have tried both the Revlon Lip Butters and the Maybelline Baby Lips but did not like either one of them. Am I the only one?? The Lip Butters would gather a gross line on the inside of my lip and the Baby Lips dried my lips out :(
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I already mentioned the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and how much I love them. I also love the e.l.f. Small Stipple Brush, the e.l.f. Small Tapered Brush and the e.l.f. Flawless concealer Brush!
I thought I was the only one who didn't like the Revlon Lip Butters! (I do love the Balm Stains like you, though!) I haven't tried Baby Lips, but since it seems like we agree on other lip products, I'll pass on them in the future.
DeleteI don't like the lip butters either. they seem to be regular lipstick, and dry my lips out. my old avon lipsticks have the same feel when wearing them, which is why they are still sitting in a drawer looking like new after 10 years.

WnW Megalast Nail Colors. They're cheap, great quality, have great brushes, and go on sale often!

ReplyDeleteSpoiled glitter nail polishes. They don't skimp on the glitter and some of the combos are fairly unique. I'm a big fan of Stack the Deck, Jewelry Heist, and Trust Fund Baby.
ReplyDeleteI think CeraVe released their facial care line this year. The PM moisturizer should have been a bigger buzz. It's a light moisturizer that is extremely gentle for really sensitive skin like mine, has anti-aging ingredients that should make this a much more expensive product like tons of ceramides, and no fragrance. It also comes packaged in a pump bottle that keeps it mostly free from bacteria, light, and air contamination.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite find this year has been the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. I have all the colors, but in particular I keep going back and using Honey, Adore and Romantic.

I've really, really liked the Spoiled nail polishes this year! My actual favorite, though, would have to be the Meutrogena ultra gentle daily cleanser. I love it so much!!! It's like baby angels kissing away all the dirt and oil, that's how gentle it is on my skin. <3

ReplyDeleteI think the Milani Shadow Eyez deserve a chance! Your review (and many others) had me buying all of them and they were a MUCH better investment than even the NYX or Makeup Forever eyeshadow pencils I have.
