HUGE Wet n Wild news!

A few commenters on my "dream products" post from yesterday said that they would love to see Wet n Wild release an all-matte eyeshadow palette (in fact, over the past several months, I've heard from many of you who would like to see this as well). I must admit, I had to bite my tongue when I saw your comments, but I can now tell you that your dreams are about to come true!

Wet n Wild is going to release an
ALL MATTE COLORICON 8-PAN EYESHADOW PALETTE

I don't have all of the details just yet, but here's what I can tell you:
  • It will be Limited Edition (for now)
  • It will have the same packaging as the existing Coloricon 8-pan palettes
  • It will only be sold at select retailers (I do not know yet which retailers will carry it)
  • It will ONLY contain matte eyeshadows
  • The release date for this palette will be later this year (I'll get you an exact date when it becomes available)
IMPORTANT: Sadly, with the news of this awesome new product, I must tell you that the beloved Color Icon 6-pan eyeshadow palettes are going to be discontinued. But don't worry: YOU STILL HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO STOCK UP. The official discontinuation date is January 2012, but since each retailer is different, it will probably take a good six months until they're completely off all store shelves. So you've still got about a year to buy back-ups/hoard these/say your fond farewells.

So, what do you think of this news? Are you as excited as I am to see what colors are going to be in this new Wet n Wild matte 8-pan? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  1. It is rare that they would have just one palette as a LE...right? Maybe there will be at least one more...maybe??

  2. I'm extremely excited and a bit nervous at the same time. Wet n' Wild's matte shadows can be hit or miss in regards to quality, but they definitely put out some of the best eyeshadows on the market (at least for drugstore), so I'll buy it just to see!

  3. I would love to get me hands on one of these! Sadly, the LE Wet n Wild items are rarely ever available in my area. My best dream wish is that Wet n Wild would open a webstore!

  4. Kimberly: Well, technically I think we can think of this as an LE addition to the existing 8-pans. But like I said, they're LE for now (who knows what the future holds, right? Maybe if they're super popular WnW will make them permanent!). :)

NeutraKris: I'm so sorry the existing mattes are hit or miss for you. I have had nothing but good luck with their mattes (when I first reviewed them back in Feb '10 I remember freaking out because they were just so creamy and easy to work with) and I think the mattes in the existing 8-pans are fab too. But I know it's subjective and everything works differently for everyone, so I really hope these new ones work for you. *fingers crossed*

  5. I am very excited to see the colors they release. It will be a great product if they r super pigmented and not chalky!! Thx for this exclusive! :)

  6. Peace: Although I have no way of knowing this for sure, I'm HOPING that this new palette will have the same availability as the existing 8-pans. I will definitely keep you posted when I get more info. :)

  7. Patrice: If they're anything like the ones in the purple palettes (the 8-pan and 6-pan) then I think we'll all be super pleased. haha! And you are so welcome! :)

  8. Exciting news! I do hope that since the 6-pans are being discontinued that they will make new 8-pans. One with golds and neutrals and then maybe a smokey one, and one with brights! I'm sure if they made a neutral one to dupe Urban Decay's Naked palette it would be a huge seller!

  9. any idea when we will start seeing these around?

  10. Awesome...just one more WnW LE product that I won't be able to get :-(

  11. Dark Threads: Oooh a nude palette, ala the UD Naked palette, WOULD be fab! :)

Anita: Please see the 5th bullet point above.

  12. Well that's exciting! Are they mainly neutrals or some colours too? I really love the Wet n' Wild Mattes so this is great! Do you know if they'll be available in Canada? I've got so may questions! Can't wait for more info!

  13. I don't dare get excited. Wet-N-Wild sucks at getting LE products, polish or makeup to my area. My chances of ever seeing, much less being able to purchase a matte palette will be about the same as my being selected as Miss America.

I am just about ready to give up on this company"s products, all together. I am over the searching, hunting and angst of trying in vain to find their products. Especially LE products. W-N-W is pretty nice stuff and I like the items I have managed to find and purchase but it is hardly worth the raggle baggle. :S

  14. Sarakin: Like I mentioned to Peace (above), I'm HOPING these will have the same availability as the existing 8-pans. I will definitely keep you posted. I really hope everyone who wants this one will be able to find it easily. :)

Hebridean Sprite: Like I mentioned in this post, I have no idea what shades will be in this palette, but when I hear something I will definitely let you know! And as for Canada, I'm sorry I don't have any info on if/when they'll be available there. If I hear anything, I will post it. :)

Ice Queen: I completely understand your frustration (it's frustrating on my end too, hearing readers search and not find these LE products). All I can say is that I hope this new palette is as easy to find at the existing 8-pans. Hopefully it will be, and once I get more info I will post it. PS: I do want to mention that it's not WnW who is responsible for getting LE products to your area. I believe that they offer them to all retailers, but it's up to each individual retailer as to when (or if) they want to carry them. I wanted to explain that because, if you want your stores to carry more LE WnW products, the most effective thing might be to talk to a store manager and request that they carry more of them? Hope that helps. :)

  15. Oooh I'm so excited about this! Although I love my Comfort Zone palette I was hoping for more mattes and I'm glad that they're deciding to put more out

  16. Oh no, I'm going to have to stock up on the Vanity palette this year because I adore it so much. :( I'm going to be excited for a matte 8-pan though. I really hope it comes into my area because the christmas editions never made it here.

  17. Can't wait! Thanks for the heads-up, G!!

  18. WOW. but agree with Ice Queen...I can barely find the limited edition WnW without running a full tank gas out hitting every drugstore in the surrounding counties! I still haven't found that bronze collection for the summer, I'm dying for that trio. I'll just stock up on Comfort Zone when it see it again on the next good sale...like a BOGO Free. lol

  19. As much as i am completely stoked to hear about the new matte 8 pan.... I am completely heartbroken that they are discontinuing the 6 pans. The vanity palette is my holy grail favorite palette of all time. guess its time for me to get like two of each. Sad news.

But excited to hear more about the new 8 pan! Thanks G love.

  20. really excited! I dont have many mattes and I will 99% postive I will buy this palette! As for the 6 pans, I was never really fond of them =(

    ReplyDelete
  21. woah! excited about the new 8 pan and intrigued by what colors is going to have!, but so bummed about the 6 pan being discontinued, I'm definitely stocking up on the vanity and greed palettes, those are my fave.
Nvm I'm probably just going to get one of each 6 pan palette :)

  22. Would *LOVE* to see a 8-pan palette, as a dupe off of Urban Decay's Naked palette! That would rock!

As for the matte palette, I'm not too overly excited. I'm more of a shimmer gal. Though, I am hoping there's a few neutral shades in it!

Sadly, big boo to Wet 'n Wild for discontinuing the 8-pans! I'll have to go get at least three more of Comfort Zone, before they're gone. :( Why are all the best things discontinued!?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh gosh this sounds awesome. i cant wait to try it. I hate they are discontinuing the 6 pans though. I like the Vanity and Greed palette. hopefully a sale will come up soon and ill get a backup.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Ohh at least I know I'm not the only one who never gets the LE, sooo frustrating, I try not to get exited with these new palettes as I never get to see them... :(

Thanks G for explaining that it's not Wet and Wild fault but all the Northeast crappy retailers who don't stack them BUUUUU them!

    ReplyDelete
  25. O My... I nearly soiled myself reading about the matte 8 pan!! And may I just say IT'S ABOUT FARKIN' TIME?! Not everyone wants to or can wear hypershine, WnW... I love my some mattes and now I'm all psyched about this! Can't WAIT to see it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks, G. Maybe I will talk to them and see what they say. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Matte 8 pan??? I will be all over it!!! Thank you for giving our feedbacks to Wet n Wild.

    ReplyDelete
  28. It's good to see Wet n Wild listening to our feedback, but the 8 pan palettes aren't even here in Canada yet. Even worse, they discontinued the Mega Eyes Cream Liner when they revamped the product line here.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love their matte shadows. I can't wait to see what colors they put in the palette. I hope it's not anything crazy like pinks or whatever!! I will prob pick it up regardless. Haha

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ooh can't wait to try the new palette. As for the 6 pan palettes, I had a feeling they would be discontinued soon.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Can you tell me if you can buy these online (for a good price) you cant get them in the UK and ive always wanted to try Wet N Wild, ive never tried it at all, i want to try the 8 palette and the trio palettes so badly!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I really hope they will be really nice bright colors

    ReplyDelete
  33. Squee! ^☼á´¥☼^ I have the 4 non-LE 6-pans that are half matte, & they are the best matte e/ss I've found. I just hope this becomes widely available, & isn't so limited that the only chance to get it is paying 4 Xs its original price on eBay. <:-/

  34. Wow..More matte shades!!
Sad to see that the 6 color palette will be discontined,I love the colors & pimentation!

I wonder what eyeshadow palette will be replacing the 6 color?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh I can't wait!!!! I have all of the 3 palettes and all of the 8's that they've released so far so I can't wait to see the new one!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ooh I can't wait! I too have all of their palettes, including the trios and love them all. I especially love matte shadows!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would have to agree with some of you on here, while wet n wild LE products are fairly available here in my area, I have learned my lesson with the "go for the gold" collection when I only purchased one eye trio, and now I want more and they are all gone :( Now if I want them from another store I will have to initiate a "store transfer" which could take up to 6 months to complete as per the associates best guess...oh man! What a pain! Lets all hope for an online store someday! This searching can get exhausting for sure!

  38. I'm so excited to get my hands on WnW mattes! I would love to see a gray-brown matte (copperplate-type)and a med brown...I could go on and on. Their mattes are very nice. A matte neutral palette and a palette w/ some matte colors would be the ultimate. I think it will end up being permanent, especially the neutral one.
Maybe it will be out by the holidays...?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Have you heard anything new about the matte palette?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I don't know what they are thinking. I haven't bought a single new palette and prefer the six palette's I have. Unless they add some good matte's into the one, I don't think I'm going to buy more.
