Have you tried...?

It's been a while since my last installment of Have you tried..., which means we're definitely overdue! For new readers, this a semi-regular post where I like to ask you if you've tried something new that I have not yet had a chance to try myself. Since I can't review everything new at the drugstore on this blog (oh how I wish!), I love it when you share your insights and opinions on new products that aren't featured here. I always love reading your responses and I always find them incredibly helpful (and I hope you do, too!).

So for this installment of Have you tried.., I'm asking your opinion on two products: one has been out for a while, and the other is so new that I cannot find anything about it on the internet at all.

First up:

Have you tried:

If so, what are you thoughts? Do you love it, hate, or are you indifferent about it? What's the texture like? Did the shade selection fit your particular needs? I'd love to hear from you if you've tried this new Aveeno product!

Next up:

Have you tried:
Burt's Bees Lip Balm with Kokum Butter?

I saw a little display for this new Burt's Bees lip balm formula at my local Walgreens the other day. It was located right at the register, so I didn't get a chance to really study the tube, but I made a mental note to look it up when I got home. Well, it's not on the Burt's Bees website, and I actually can't find a mention of it ANYWHERE online (admittedly, I didn't look too deeply, but nothing came up on the first page of Google results). I know I have the name right because I made a mental note to remember it and, well, kokum butter (aka garcinia indica) is pretty distinctive. So I know I wasn't imagining things. Besides, I noticed that the tube is white, whereas most Burt's Bees lip balms have yellow tubes, so that really stood out in my memory.

Unless my Walgreens is the very first store in the nation to have this lip balm on display (very doubtful!) I'm hoping that at least ONE of you has tried this newest Burt's Bees formula, and that you'd like to share your opinion with us!

Have you tried either of the products listed above? If so, please share your thoughts in the comments. Thank you!

  1. I have not tried either one of these products but EmilyNoel on Beauty Broadcast says the Aveeno tinted moistuizer is good. She usually had good recommendations.

  2. I tried the Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer because emilynoel83 recommended it, but I think it has a horrible smell and I don't like how it looks on my skin. It made my face feel greasy.

  3. I haven't tried aveeno since I had a bad reaction to some of their products and it caused my eye to swell shut. Ick.

  4. I have tried the Aveeno Tinted Moisturizer. I'm pretty indifferent about it. It's VERY luminous which is why it's called "positively radiant" so it does that. I am the light shade, which was fine for me. I have combination skin, and I didn't feel it was moisturizing enough for me. It's a pretty light texture in my opinion. Hope it helps. :)

  5. I haven't tried the Aveeno moisturizer however, I use the Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Cleanser. Actually, my husband picked it up for himself and I tried it and like it too. Oh, and hubs just uses it to wash his face. I don't 'think' he wears makeup. ;p

  6. I've been using Aveeno's tinted moisturizer for 2 weeks now. I am NC20 but the fair to light shade was too light so I had to go with the medium shade. The medium shade is a bit darker but it gives me the bronzy glow look. It's nothing sparkly like the Revlon Photoready though. The texture is not too creamy neither liquidy, just right. I have combination skin so I do have to powder my T-zone. IMO this tinted moisterizer is close to being medium coverage and last over 5 hours before I see my oils break through. $15 is a bit pricey but I really like it. I have no regrets.

  7. The tinted moisturizer is very thick, almost difficult to blend. The tint is barely there and is slightly red-toned while applying. I think it also makes my foundation come on patchy if I don't wait long enough. It also feels greasy throughout the day.

I would not recommend or repurchase (I think it's more than $10), although I will continue to use what I have left.

  8. Also grabbed it as an emilynoel83 fan but the Tinted Moisturizer seemed to break me out. I have almost a full bottle of the stuff left...boo.

  9. I have tried the Aveeno tinted moisturizer. I am indifferent about it. It's not that moisturizing at all. I have to put on a layer of moisturizer before and then go over with the TM, which I think defeats the purpose. I use a damp sponge to apply it and it makes it less thick and goopey and lightly set it with a translucent powder. But I won't be repurchasing this. It's way too shimmery and not moisturizing enough for my dry skin.

  10. I also bought the tinted moisturizer by emilynoel83's recommendation. I like it but I don't love it. I like the positively radiant moisturizer, it's great (although I don't like that it kind of has sparkles inside). But the tinted moisturizer I think it kind of dries out my skin - I have normal to combination skin. So I have to put the moisturizer before using the tinted one, which I think is kind of a waste... the point was to have 2 in 1 right?! I'll use it but don't know if I'll buy it again...

  11. I tried the original Aveeno Positively Radiant moisturizer... It makes my face looks dewy/greasy, I have combination / oily skin. Do not recommend it

  12. I have tried the Aveeno tinted moisturizer in Fair to Light - I'm very pale, and it is a little too dark for me, but it looks fine in summer. It definitely is very light reflective... another reason I only wear it in summertime. I do like it, but it is more like a light cream foundation than a moisturizer with tint, so I apply it accordingly. It does have a strong smell, but that dissipates quickly.

  13. I tried the tinted moisturizer and really did not like it! I have normal-dry skin and I didn't find it moisturizing. I have heard from some beauty guru's that most tinted moisturizers that actually moisturize are high end brands.
