The Wednesday Question

I may be sick, but I can still ask YOU a question, and this week's question is one I would REALLY love you to answer, because I desperately need your help:

What is your favorite affordable blush brush?

For some reason, good, affordable blush brushes are impossible for me to find. They're either too big (I hate it when blush brushes deposit my blush all the way down to my upper lip!), too scratchy, too dense, not dense enough or they shed too much. I am DESPERATE for suggestions so please let me know what you use, and how you like it!

  1. Eco Tools makes a nice blush brush!

  2. Hello there ... I actually just bought a blush brush by E.L.F. and it works fine for me. Its pretty small. It deposits a good amount of color but then I tend to blend it out with a kabuki brush. Here is the link to the brush I bought http://www.eyeslipsface.com/studio/tools/brushes_and_applicators/blush_brush

  3. I love the ecotools blush brush, and use the Elf powder brush for blush as well, and it works great! It's a flat-top brush. Neither have shed on me yet and they're soft and not scratchy at all!

  4. The High Definition Angled Blush Brush from Walmart. =)

  5. Love the blush brush from Ecotool's original Alicia set. Slight angle to it and slightly smaller then the standard ecotools blush brush which workd great for me.

  6. I have the EcoTools one too. I love it because it's so amazingly soft. My friend, who previously believed all things drugstore beauty were bad, even commented on it.

  7. I agree about the ecotools blush brush too. And I have their kit with the travel sized brushes and the blush brush in that is excellent too.

  8. Sigma's F whatever it is, like mac's 168.. F40. Or ELF's blush studio brush, or ecotools blush brush.

And hands down Sonia Kashuk's blush brush (the one with black ergonomic handle)

  9. Sorry to hear you are sick. :(

Good blush brushes are hard to find. And when you do find one, get a couple of backups too. I have a Mark by Avon blush brush that has held on for about 3 years or so. It is due to be replaced and I hope they still have it and it's the same.
Not sure of the price but being Avon, it couldn't have been too pricey.

  10. Im sick too! Ugh and in the middle of a snow storm here in DC.

Fav affordable blush brush would have to be Ecotools.

    Feel better :)

  11. Ecotools is the softest... kinda weird to work with at first but I really love it b/c it gives me the best result!

  12. I have a really nice brush I got for like 4 bucks at T.J. Maxx from a brand called Gotta B' Urban. The brand name is horrible but the brush is awesome. Its soft and has never shed. I have a few brushes by them and I really like them.

  13. Oh, here are reviews of Gotta B Urban makeup brushes on MUA. Apparently they sell them at both Marshalls and T.J. Maxx.

  14. I'm really loving my essence blush brush. (From Ulta)
I like the ecotools one too, but I find it a tad too big. The essence one is a smaller size, really soft and doesn't shed. Plus, it was only a few bucks! It's really great quality - especially for the price! <3

  15. I also had the same problem with blush brushes. After buying the Sigma brush I decided that I would not waste anymore money on bad brushes and bought the MAC 165. I could have bought 3 MAC 165s with the money that I wasted on bad blush brush.

  16. I don't have much luck with the traditional flat, floppy blush brush that you brush sideways onto your cheeks. Instead I like to use a flattop brush because I think you can control the application a bit better and you don't waste as much product. I love the ELF Studio powder brush for blush. For very very pigmented blushes, I use a fluffier (much less dense) brush from Essence of Beauty because only a tiny bit of the product you load onto the brush ends up on your face.

  17. ecotools brushes are very good for blush, I also like the Quo brushes and sometimes they are at 40% off which makes them more wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  18. like previously echoed by some, the EcoTools blush brush from the original Alicia Silverstone set! i can control the amount of blush i want, soft bristles & an eco-friendly brand. :)
there's this Miners powder brush too (the one w/ the lavender-colored handle) i owned a long time ago that deposited the prettiest flush! too bad i accidentally gave it away to a friend.. she's loving it though so no regrets! :)

  19. My favorite is the elf Studio blush brush. The synthetic bristles are nice and soft, and the brush itself is on the smaller side. I used to use the ecotools blush brush and even though it's really soft it was way too big for my cheeks. Like you, I would end up with blush down to my lips. The elf Studio blush brush is much better for me size-wise.

  20. Ecotools! Its soft and i love it so much

  21. I second the person that said the Wal-Mart High Definition angled blush brush.
    I LOVE it!
It's really soft and cheap too ($5.98)

    ReplyDelete
  22. ELF studio line blush brush or the Sigma angled brush (not the F80 series), the ones that aren't as dense.

    ReplyDelete
  23. My fave is the Flirt Skunk Brush. It's an exact dupe for the MAC 187. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love my Sonia Kashuk blush brushes. I have one in particular that I can never be without...it might be my favorite brush I own!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I love the EcoTools blush brush, but I also use the Crown Luna stipple brush, which was <$8.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love the marykay blush brush that comes in their brush kit, it's excellent! I've been using it for years now and it's never failed me yet! Very soft, no shedding, and dense enough but not too dense.

    ReplyDelete
  27. EcoTools (from the Alicia Silverstone kit) is a WONDERFUL blush brush. I also really love my Too Faced Blush Brush (but it came in a set), and I love my MAC brush (which is definitely more expensive).

    ReplyDelete
  28. I loe my eco tools bush brush. I've never found one like it at such an affordable price.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Found your blog while googling about Hard Candy's eyeliner! And I really like your reviews! Anyw though a little pricer than what is mentioned here; I've used my Body Shop brush for years and it is amazing!! It's soft and it feels comfy against my cheeks!! Definitely value for money!

  30. ECO TOOLS BLUSH BRUSH SUPER SOFT!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love the EcoTools blush brush from a set. Super super soft. I use it for both pressed powder and for blush. It's like $11.99 and has the best fluffy eyeshadow brush in there too. Love it!

  32. I love Studio Tools "highlighter" brush. I bought it at Target a while back and it is supposed to be a dupe to the MAC187, however, it is smaller and just perfect. I recently went to Target in hopes of buyin backups and its not longer offered! I was so sad, bc it is awesome and was only $4.98...the closest thing to it is the Sonia Kashuk, it feels and lookd the same, but it is $12...not too bad but i lobe my Studio Tools brush!

  33. i have to echo the ecotools. i've had mine more than a year and it's never shed. i don't find it too big like others said. maybe i have a big face. i actually accidentally dropped mine in the toilet a couple weeks ago and with only the slightest hesitation reached in and dragged it back out. (mind you, it floated, so the top bristles were dry, and i had just scrubbed the toilet, luckily.) i didn't know when i'd be able to replace it so i was going to disinfect it and keep on using it (yes, i know, ew, but sometimes you go to great lengths). luckily i realized eco tools is made in china (for export only, not local sale), but that means somebody is going to be selling similar brushes made in the same factory probably. so i picked up a chinese no-brand brush that is very similar. all that also made me question how eco-friendly eco tools really is ... but regardless of that quibble, they do make some good and very reasonably priced brushes.

  34. e.l.f. Studio blush brush. I have a somewhat small face and their blush brush fits perfectly on the apples of my cheeks and under the cheekbones! I've never had it shed on me, either. I love the Studio line brushes!

  35. ecotools, the one that's part of the travel set for mineral makeup? the mini kabuki is the one i'm using for blusher!
plus it feels ever so nice.

    ReplyDelete
  36. EcoTools rivals (and IMHO, beats!) every high-end brand, hands down. I adore the big, chubby "bronzer" brush for blush. It's soft as butter, deposits the perfect amount of color, and is super affordable. You can usually grab it on B1G150% sale, and combine that with ULTA coupons. I'd go on, but it looks like lots of ladies already beat me to the punch about EcoTools! :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I guess I am on the ELF band wagon! That is the only "affordable" one that I own. I prefer the BE kabuki brush tho if that counts! Feel better soon!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I am another EcoTools fan here...I use their blush brush for contouring as well..thu i have switched to Sigma 187 (16$) for blush mainly because i wanted to use that brush for something after i switched to flat top kabuki for foundation:)
    I hope u feel better soon :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Feel better soon, G!

I really love my EcoTools blush brush. Someone else mentioned the Flirt skunk brush...that's a good one too. :)

  40. I love my Sigma Blush Brush and Eco Tools has a great one, too but you already know that because of all the previous comments ; )

    ReplyDelete
  41. I use the e.l.f. Studio Powder Brush! It's sooooooo soft and also works well with foundation and loose powders! Check out the reviews...and btw some of the reviews state the brush sheds but I haven't had any problems with shedding and I wash mine once a week.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love the Sonja Kashuk blush brush (white handle) from Target, works great!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I use a Diamond Cosmetics blush brush I bought at the Dollar Tree, but it's too big and it sheds at least one or two hairs every time I use it. So spend a little more and get the ELF, Eco Tools, Sigma, Studio Tools, or Sonia Kashuk! lol Or those ones at TJ Maxx or Marshall's. I'd probably be going to get those if I hadn't won brushes from Illamasqua.

  44. I love the angled one from Walmart. It is made by the same company as EcoTools and is every bit as soft and effective as the HD one from Sephora, but costs something like 85% less! I've washed it so many times and I don't think I've lost a single bristle!

  47. I've been using the Total Face Brush by E.L.F.
It looks like it would be huge on the website, but it is actually a pretty good size for blending blush on the apples of your cheeks and up to your cheekbones. :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. For a fluffy brush, I like Eco Tools, but one for precision, I love ELF's studio blush brush. Just like Sephora, but 3 bucks!<3

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ecotools or Crown Brush are both my favs!

    ReplyDelete
  50. E.L.F. flat top powder brush!

    ReplyDelete
  51. The ELF brush blush hurts my face. I use the essence of beauty one, that you can find at cvs. It's pretty small, the way I like it.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Another vote for Ecotools! I love mine.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Sonia Kashuk's Synthetic Flat Top Blusher Brush has AMAZING quality, the bristles are firm enough to buff out color without being harsh. It's about $15 at target.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I like the Sigma angled brush with the white bristles (don't know the new numbering system, but it used to be SS168) and the Elf Studio Blush Brush! For very pigmented blushes I like the Sigma SS188 small duo fibre brush, which works great with cream blushes as well ;) x

  55. Fabulous question and common problem if you ask me. I do NOT like a big blush brush and I seldom like an angled blush brush. I am shocked to say this but my current favorite low end is e.l.f.'s angled blush brush with the bamboo handle. Its small, soft enough & picks up a mod amt of product-no matter if its Cargo, Illamasqua or e.l.f blush. There's been no fall out so far and it washes easily and holds its shape if you use a brush guards to dry your brushes. I've ordered the e.l.f. Studio Blush Brush out of curiosity. It looks like another good one but time will tell.
    Great blog, Kat

  56. Hey G!

I went to Target today to find out that a few Ecotools brushes are on CLEARANCE! If you want to go ahead and try the Ecotools Blush Brush go ahead and buy it from Target for 50% off!

  57. I love the ELF studio blush brush that comes in the 11 brush set...its not huge and hasn't shed a single hair and is super super soft.
