Review: Curel Fast-Absorbing Hand & Cuticle Cream

I was lucky enough to receive some Curel products for review a while ago (click here to see my review of Curel Itch Defense Skin Balancing Moisture Lotion, which I still love and use on a regular basis) and today I'm going to talk about the other product I received for review:

Curel Fast-Absorbing Hand & Cuticle Cream (3.5 oz, retail: around $5)

As you can see, this hand cream contains soy milk, monoi oil and Vitamin E. All great, skin-loving ingredients, for sure. And according to the bottle, this cream "immediately softens hands & cuticles 200% & helps prevent broken nails".

I've been using this hand cream pretty regularly for the past two months (the tube above is actually almost empty) and I can tell you that, for my dry lizard-like hands, the claims are not too far off. Whenever I use this, I get instant relief and my hands look 100% better. They go from lizard-like to soft and supple in a matter of seconds, which is something I look for in a good hand cream.

Some other things I like about this hand cream: it's not greasy and it doesn't gunk up your keyboard, phone, etc. after you use it. BUT, it does stay on your hands (in a good way). I hate hand creams that absorb so quickly that you cannot even feel the cream on your hands in 20 minutes. I love a hand cream that you can still feel on your skin long after you've applied it, but I don't want to feel a sticky or greasy texture on my hands either. It's a delicate balance, but Curel really hits the mark here for me. This cream leaves my hands with a lovely, soft, protective coating, but it's not heavy or annoying.

Another thing I love about this hand cream is how it feels when you're rubbing it into your hands. I hate it when certain hand creams become almost glue-like after you start rubbing them into your skin. On the other side of the spectrum, I hate it when hand creams ball up and leave little bits of gunk on your hands when you're rubbing them into your skin. Do you know what I mean? Curel Fast-Absorbing Hand & Cuticle Cream doesn't do either of those things. It's easy to work into your skin, and it never balls up.

One of my lovely readers, Beck, mentioned to me that the fragrance of this hand cream sort of reminds her of Fruit Loops (I love the scent of Fruit Loops!). I can kind of see where she's coming from, because it's got a light, fruity scent to it. To my nose, it's sort of a cross between Fruit Loops, coconut and gardenia (but it's very light on the gardenia--if you don't like gardenia don't be scared! I'm not a huge gardenia fan and I really like the scent of this cream). You've just really got to try it to see what I'm talking about.

As for the benefits to my cuticles and the possibility of less broken nails? I have noticed that my cuticles look instantly better when I use this product, however my cuticles are a mess and I'm afraid I require something much more intense to save them (I'm actually still using this and loving it for my cuticles). As for less broken nails? I'm afraid this hand cream might help that situation if I didn't wear nail polish every day. But since I do, I don't think this cream has a chance to actually interact with my nails long enough to do any sort of help. But if you use Curel and you don't often wear nail polish, I would love to hear if this has helped combat nail breakage!

Oh before I forget, here are the ingredients:

If you're in the market for a new, affordable hand cream that you can purchase easily at your local drugstore, Target, grocery store, etc., you might want to consider Curel Fast-Absorbing Hand & Nail Cream. I really am loving it and I hope you do too!

Do you already own this product? Are you thinking about getting it? I'd love to hear from you either way!

  1. I'd like to try this, but I have loads of lotions I need to get rid of first. :)

  2. This claim that it helps nails is a sell for me. I'm always looking for good hand cream since my job is horrible to my hands. I'm gonna have to pick this up next time.

  3. I'm glad this cream worked for you, I found it much to slippery and seemed to have dried out my nails and cuticles even worse. I've been slathering my hands with Egyptian Magic before bed which has counteracted it, though. :(

  4. Ashley: Well, whenever you're running low, give it a shot! :)

Coral: Oooh, I would love to know if it works for your nails!! Please keep me posted? xo

Andra: I'm so sorry to hear this formula didn't work for you. I actually prefer a hand cream that has more slip, but I know that everyone is different! And I didn't experience the drying effect that you did, but I'm so glad you have found something that *does* work for you. That's great! :)

  5. Heeheehee! I'm tickled pink to get a mention on your blog! :) I'm glad you liked the cream, I'd hate to have talked up something that was a disappointment.

  7. Beck: Awww, I'm glad that made you smile. :) And yes, I really do love it! Thanks so much. xo

Beautyjunkielondon: I swear, if you need something heavy-duty for your cuticles, click the link in this post about using mentholatum. It really, really saves my ragged cuticles! :)
