How appropriate that I spot this yummy little display at Walgreens on the day before Valentine's Day:
Maybelline Spring 2010 Limited Edition Sweet Thing Nail Color Collection (retail: $4.79)
What a delicious little array of candy-colored pastel cremes! Lucky for me, Walgreens was in its last day of 40% off sale on all Maybelline products, so I was able to snag two bottles for $2.87 a piece instead of the usual $4.79. Yay!

L: Pie in the Sky, R: Goody Plum Drop
Pie in the Sky is actually more of a pastel periwinkle blue than the baby blue it appears to be in this pic. I LOVE it already. And Goody Gum Drop--do you see that gorgeous subtle shimmer? I am a sucker for pastel purples anyway, so I went bananas when I saw this little beauty. I'm already a huge fan of the Express Finish formula so you can be sure I'll be posting swatches soon. I cannot wait to wear these ASAP.
BUT, they have some competition for my next mani, because FINALLY, I spotted the new Sinful Colors greens that the lovely Magic Maid has been taunting us with lately! In case you aren't aware, Sinful Colors has quietly introduced some new shades into their permanent display recently (WHY then, are they putting out counter displays such as the Punk Rock display that only contain all old shades and no new ones? Doesn't may a lick of sense to me when they could be making tons of dough releasing a new display containing these yummy new greens! Unless you're already very aware of the Sinful Colors inventory, you might not even know they released new colors. Frustrating!). Whew. Sorry for that tangent.
Anyway, I wanted all three of these new greens but I just picked up my favorite of the bunch--especially after hearing not just Magic Maid rave about it, but the lovely Niki at Cheapalicious has been raving about it as well:
Sinful Colors Mint Apple (retail: $1.99)
I am bathed in pastel candy goodness right now! I don't even know where to start. :)
That's it for now, but swatches to come soon. Also, I wanted to let you know that I'm going to be enjoying a great day out in the San Diego sunshine today with Mr. Recessionista so I'll be making the comments for-approval just for today, since I won't be near my blackberry. In other words, you can leave comments as usual, but they just won't appear until I've approved them (which will either be tonight or tomorrow AM). Also, I will reply to all of your wonderful comments from yesterday and today soon (probably tomorrow morning). Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. :)
PS: In case you're curious, Mr. R and I are going to some Japanese markets today to get stuff for sushi (but you know I'll be making a detour to the beauty aisle!) and then we'll come home and make a big sushi dinner together for Valentine's Day--much cheaper than going to our favorite sushi place and MUCH more fun! I'm also planning to stop by some Asian bakeries because, since it's Chinese New Year, the bakeries go ALL OUT on beautiful, delicate pastries that are making my mouth water just thinking about them. If I spot anything particularly beautiful, I'll share some pics. Because, I mean, why keep the drooling to myself, right? :)
Have a WONDERFUL day today, whether it's with your significant other, friends or family. And if you're alone today, INDULGE in your favorite things and pamper yourself with a mani/pedi, bath, or facial. You totally deserve it!
Love,
R. xo
ooh, i got to check out those maybelline polishes! you must do a review on the mint apple. i love it, but i want to hear your thoughts since you're more of an expert than i am, lol. thanks for linking to magic maid's site. i never heard of her, but now i'm going to add her to my daily reads!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day shopping in "exotic" locals LOL.
ReplyDeleteWe heart Japanese food above all asian, and love all asian even more than good ol' southern cooking. This has only added to our distinction as "characters."
I have spent hours and hours scouring the interned for recipes and we make seaweed salad, custom sushi rolls, miso soup, pho, tempura, various stir-fries, etc. twice to 3x a week - yes, even while in Arkansas. Love love LOVE our asian markets.
Give me a holler if you want me to share any recipes. They're all saved right here on the puter and would be easy to send an attachment.
OMG! Looooooove the shades!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day. :)
