What brands and products have you spotted at YOUR Dollar Trees?

Due to the great response I received to my Dollar Tree haul post from yesterday, I decided to start this post so that we can all contribute and help each other out.

Dollar Tree shoppers: If you would like to help, please leave a comment on this post and list the brands and products that you've spotted recently at your Dollar Tree! It would really help if you could also list your city and state (or even just your state, if possible) so that others who are reading this can get an idea of what to look for the next time they're looking to make a DT haul.

Here's the list of drugstore products that I've spotted at various Dollar Trees in San Diego, CA as of Dec. 6th, 2009:

CoverGirl:

Eyeshadow singles (packs of two)
Shadow Squeese Shimmer Cream Eyeshadows

L.A. Colors:

6-pan and 12-pan eyeshadow palettes
Art Deco nail art polishes
Lip Glosses
All-in-One Color Sticks
Loose Shimmer Eyeshadows

L'Oreal:

Colour Fresco Creme Eyeliners

Maybelline:

Various limited edition and discontinued shades of nail polish
Dream Mousse Blushes
Dream Mousse Eyeshadows
Dream Mousse Bronzer
Great Wear Waterproof Eyeliners
Line Stylist Eyeliners
Moisture Extreme Lipsticks
Forever Metallics Metal Shine Lip Colors
Cool Effect Eyeliners

Sally Hansen:

Various limited edition and discontinued nail polishes
Natural Butter Lip Shines
Lacquer Shine Lip Colors

Thank you in advance for contributing to this post! If I receive a good response, I'll add this post to my sidebar for easy reference so that we can all keep checking back to keep up-to-date on our latest discoveries! (And I will continue adding to and updating my San Diego list.)

I almost forgot! A lot of you have told me that you haven't been able to find *any* name-brand drugstore cosmetics at your local Dollar Tree. I can't stress this enough: visit multiple locations within your city/town! Dollar Tree inventory varies GREATLY from store to store, even within the same city. So while the store closest to you may completely suck, you may hit a goldmine at another location!

And a big thanks to Eyeliner Klutz (femputer) for getting this whole ball rolling! :)

PS: Here's a swatch of all of the nail polishes I bought yesterday in case you were curious:

All swatches are of two coats, except for the light green (Sally Hansen Money Bags Frost), which was taken after FIVE coats and it's still very streaky. Definitely a sheer!

  1. Yesterday, I stopped at the only Dollar Tree around for me, which is in Hibbing, MN. There really wasn't much, which kind of made me sad, especially after coming on here and seeing the great stuff you found, lol. I did see all of the L.A. Colors items that you listed, minus the loose shimmer eyeshadows. They also had the L'Oreal Colour Fresco Creme Eyeliners (which I got 2 of and decided I love!) Maybelline Dream Mousse eyeshadows, and Moisture Extreme Lipsticks. And Sally Hansen Natural Butter Lip Shines (finally!) Other than that stuff, there really wasn't much. Comparing what I find at my Dollar Tree to what you and all of these other people find, it seems like mine has less of a selection, and I'm not sure if it's because it's located in a small city, or if it's just my luck. lol.

Also, I think this post is a great idea, and I will continue to update what I find at mine. It's nice to have someone to tell that actually cares about the cool stuff I find.

  2. I went to my Dollar Tree Friday mainly because I heard Sally Hansen Natural glosses were there, but mine only had ONE shade. :/

I picked up Maybelline Blush/Bronzer, L.A. Colors Nail Art Deco, and some stickers. :)

There was Sally Hansen(polishes, glosses), L'Oreal (pencils, polishes), Maybelline(lipsticks, polishes, blush/bronzers, L.A. Colors. And I saw some polishes by this brand with Pro in the name.
Anyways I just posted my haul on my blog.

  3. I bought 12 different maybellines a few weeks ago! The Khaki Fringe is now in my top 5! Just tried out the blue chill today and it is lovely.

  4. I live in AZ and I just got back from my dollar store and I found L'oreal HIP cream eyeshadow, jelly balm in 'luscious' and bare naturale mineral eyeliner in olive, mahogany and HIP gunmetal duos!!

  5. Looks like you did some serious polish haulage. Is it me or does that dark charcoal polish look matte? I recently found 2 more shades of LA Girl's Flare polishes at Forever 21. They're wonderful!

Looks like I'll need to check out my Dollar Tree soon. I'd love to find a few LA Colors palettes since the one I bought at The Beauty Experience in Parkway Plaza had pretty nice pigmentation. I used it for my Scotland smokey eye.

  6. We don't have a Dollar Tree here in Quebec, but I went to Wildwood last summer and I bought a Physician Formula cream eyeshadow palette for 1$! I was AMAZED!

  7. I'm in the Hartford, CT area. There are 3 DTs within a reasonable distance of where I live. I hit two of them yesterday; one had nothing, the other had some of the Cover Girl Squeases, Smoothwear Liptints, Sally Hansen Butter Lip Shine, some discontinued Maybelline (Great Wear liners, Moisture Whip lipliner, Shine Seduction and Shiny-Licious lipgloss).

I'm going to try the third one today, I am seriously envious of the old Maybelline polishes... I had a huge Maybelline polish collection when I was 13-14 and over time tossed them all out. Now I wish I could resurrect them!

  11. There's a really big Dollar Tree in Sarasota, FL near the Southgate Mall. I always find tons of Maybelline there as well as Art Deco nail polishes (for doing designs) and [surprisingly good quality] Carlo Di Roma eyeliners & lip liners.

  12. Ladies! Thank you so much for these great responses--keep 'em coming! This kind of info is sooo helpful to us all! :)

Nikki: Did you find all of those great HiP products at a Dollar Tree or was this from another dollar store?

Can't wait to keep reading these comments, and I'm going to post a link in my sidebar for easy access! xo

  13. MY GOODNESS!
I went just this past weekend and I found NYC Smooth Mineral Loose Eye Powder Kits, they had Frosty Shimmer,
Espresso, and Cocoa Shimmer. They also had Smooth Mineral Loose Blush Powders, I got Tender Pink, I am not sure what other colors they had, but I know that they did have other ones.

There are also all the other products listed on the blog.

I found these in Spring, TX.

  14. In Dallas, TX and surrounding suburbs you can find Loreal HIP cream blushes! Get them while you can because people are snatching them up with a quickness!

  15. neijie: NYC at Dollar Tree?? Oh MY! I had no idea! Thanks so much for the comment--I sure hope these make their way to the west coast! :)

Felicia! OK, so you CAN find HiP at Dollar Tree! (Another commentor mentioned it but she didn't indicate if she found them at Dollar Tree or another dollar store). Thank you! I really, really hope I can find these soon! :)

  16. I went back to my dollar tree today, in Hibbing, MN, and I noticed that they had all kinds of As Seen On TV things. They weren't the actual products, but basically the same thing. Let me try to remember them all...Ped Egg, Strap Perfect, Smooth Away, Bumpits...I am positive there are more but those are the only ones I can think of right now. I thought it was interesting, and since I LOVE the actual Strap Perfects and Ped Egg, I might try these copy things to see if they work just as good, or at least good enough to be worth paying so much less.

Other than that, I didn't see anything new in the makeup section. :(

  17. Sandi! Wow, I think you're the second person to tell me that there's another version of As Seen On TV products popping up at DT! Thank you for confirming this--I can't wait until they make their way out west so I can see 'em in person! :)

  18. The NYC mineral powder eye sets are now at my Dollar Tree. I looked at the as seen on tv things again today, and the other things I couldn't remember befre are mini aqua globe things, and those hangers that are supposed to like make a bunch of clothes fit better in closets or whatever. I'm in love with the smooth away imitation things. They really do work like they say they do, if anyone is interested.

  19. Hi everyone. I just visited my local Dollar Tree in Berkeley, CA and I saw the NYC Smooth Mineral Loose Eye Powder Kits too! I bought all three colors!! I also picked up two Sally Hansen Natural Butter Lip Shines. Thanks so much for the heads up, Recessionista!! If it weren't for you, I might have bought some of these items at full price from the CVS down the block! It seems that the beauty section at my Dollar Tree isn't too exciting , because in addition to the items I bought, I only found items that didn't interest me too much: two LA Colors lip glosses in the same pink shade, two Maybelline Shinylicious lip glosses (one coral and one red), Hannah Montana lip balms, L'oreal Color Riche lipsticks (in the old packaging I think) in various shades, Maybelline Express Finish nail polishes in various shades, Maybelline Dream Mousse bronzers, and Maybelline Forever Metallics Lipcolor pencils in a light pink shade. I wish my Dollar Tree had more variety... I would love to see Covergirl, along with more LA Colors and more NYC products! As Seen on TV products would be nice too!

  20. Sandi: Thanks for the new update! I am so determined to find some of those NYC kits! I will keep you posted if/when I spot them. Thanks again for the heads-up! xo

Rita: I'm so jealous that you were able to find the NYC stuff! But that's great news--at least I know they're in California! Hopefully they'll make their way down south soon! Thank you SO much for the great info--it's always so fascinating to know what people are getting in other cities. :)

  21. I'm a bit late to the game, but I found so much at the Dollar Tree this afternoon!

    * Shinylicious lip gloss in chocolate cherry (I wish they wouldn't have discontinued this - Shinylicious' reds were GREAT)
    * Maybelline Shadow Stylist in sophisticated winte
    * Dream Mousse blush in Soft Plum
    * 2 Dream Mousse shadowns - mint dream and suede sensation
    * Almay ideal red
    * 2 Sally Hanson Natural Butter lip glosses (they had a TON of Sally Hanson lip glosses but no nail polish)

Products I saw but did not purchase...
    * NYC mascara - about 4 different kinds
    * Sally Hansen lacquer shine
    * Maybelline eyeliners... quite a few different kinds

  22. Hey all... the Dollar Tree on Reynolda Rd. and Fairlawn Dr. in WINSTON-SALEM, NC provided me with one heck of a nail polish haul today. They have a huge selection of LE and cannot-find-anywhere-else Maybelline Express Finish polishes. There are matte finishes, duochromes, etc. ... I got six today ;)

They also have a good selection of Sally Hansen nail colors as well.

I also saw most of the LA Colors products the other posters have mentioned, a decent selection of Maybelline Dream Mousse blushes (don't know the exact shade names, but I did count 5 different shades), and maybe two colors of the Sally Hansen lacquer shines.

  23. I found Sally Hansen Lip Lacquer at our Dollar Store!

  24. Monica and Adam, Jennifer and Diem Ho: WOW! Thank you ladies SO much for taking the time to stop by and give such great reports of what you've been spotting your local DTs! I appreciate it SO much as I know it helps all of us out to know what's out there and what to look for when we visit our own locations. Thanks a million, and congrats on all the goodies you were able to find! Yay!!

  25. I went to the Dollar Tree in Annandale, VA today. There were many of the items mentioned above but also Physician's Formula Cream Eyeshadow 5 color palettes. They also had quite a stash of Revlon Moisture Stay sheer lipcolors. I remember liking these from years ago but figured they had to be ridiculously old.

I also picked up a L'Oreal Color Fresco Creme Eyeliner but it was so dried out that it had shriveled up and the "cream" part fell out of the pencil when I took the cap off.

  26. Found some of those NYC kits yesterday at my Dollar Tree:) I only got two.

  27. Ok, I went to my dollar tree today, and they had NYC Smooth Mineral loose blush powder, in 3 colors. one is really pink, the other 2 are kind of peachy. They also had Maybelline Expert Eyes eye makeup remover wipes, for non-waterproof makeup. Then the last new thing I saw was Sally Hansen Skin Equalizing Makeup.

  28. Steph: OMG, I hate it when that happens. I am so sorry! I always try to stick with the products that I know were JUST discontinued or are actually still available in stores, but even then there's no guarantee that they're going to be fresh or even semi-fresh. What a bummer. :( But thank you for the info on those PF eyeshadows--I bet you those are coming from Walgreens since Walgreens is no longer going to carry PF. :)

HSG: You lucky girl! I haven't been able to find any NYC stuff at any of my dollar trees. Congrats!

Sandi: Oooooh, new products at Dollar Tree! All of the things you listed must be brand new to DT because I have yet to hear anyone report about them. Thank you SO much for the scoop--you rock! Did you buy any of those NYC blushes?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ok first, yes I bought one of the blushes, and I bought one for my sister too, both the same color. I like it, but from our experience, theyre tough to blend. Ok now on to what I've been dying to share since Thursday. I've been in Wisconsin for the past week, with no access to a computer. They have a couple Dollar Trees in the area I was at, but the only one I went to was in Oshkosh. It was HUGE. and the makeup section was packed with all kinds of Maybelline lip products, mostly. I don't remember exact names, but I bought so much stuff. I spent more money there than I did anywhere else. lol. There was also Sally Hansen lip glosses that I have not yet seen at my normal Dollar Tree. The other thing that blew me away there was the frozen and refrigerated sections. I had no idea that any Dollar Tree sold frozen food, or dairy products. My family has this plan now, that come summer, we're gonna go online and get a list of all the MN Dollar trees within a few hours of here, and take a couple days and try to find another big one, that isn't 8 hours away. lol

  30. The Dollar Tree that I usually go to is in Lakeport, CA (Northern CA). They usually have tons of Maybelline stuff. Had I seen this before I went yesterday I would have paid more attention to details. :) I have the Sally Hansen Butter Lip Shines in Petal and Bloom and I LOVE them. I also got the NYC Mineral Blush last time I was there, in Pearl Mocha. Yesterday, I got a 2-pack of PRO10 polishes in Cashmere (kinda mauve?) and Violetta (iridescent translucent purple). I really like the polishes so far. I love DT for makeup but my only complaint is the section is always so messy in my store! I only found some of these things on accident because they were thrown in other places! But if you don't mind rummaging through piles of stuff it's got a fair amount for a small store. I have been to other larger DTs that have the refrigerated and freezer sections but have super small cosmetic areas. It's really strange. lol

  31. I went to the Dollar Tree in the Mira Mesa section of San Diego, CA and was sorely disappointed. A few LA Colors eye palattes and mascaras, one NYC eyeshadow, and that was about it. :( Oh, well. ~Liz~

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sandi: Thanks so much for the awesome report!! Yep, it's kind of crazy that DT has a frozen food section now, right? I don't think it's in every location yet but I did notice that more and more of them are starting to feature it. :) Oh, and I'm sorry you're not having much luck w/ that blush--I can't remember but if you haven't seen those Maybelline Dream Mousse blushes at your DT yet, I hope you can find them soon because they're amazing (maybe you did already get one and I just forgot--I need to scroll up and read through these comments again!). xo

Katie: Loooove those Sally Hansen Lip Butter Shines! Yay!! And yeah, a lot of my DTs are crazy messy. I find myself having to dig through a pile of beauty products to get to the good stuff lately. lol! But sooo worth it if you can score something good. :)

Liz: I am SO sorry that the Mira Mesa DT was a bust. I seem to have the best luck at the DT in Spring Valley on Campo Rd if you ever make it out to East County. Also, the DT in Grossmont Center can be pretty good as well. :)

  33. I have gone to my dollar tree 5 times in the past two weeks, and they have had NOTHING new. Some Valentines day stuff, but nothing for makeup, or anything like that. Anyone else having that problem?? I'm going to keep checking in every tuesday and thursday, but it's making me sad. It's probably for the best, though, because I have absolutely NO money at the moment. Everything I have is going for gas to get back and forth to school, gotta love the 100 mile round trip twice a week. lol.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I saw maybelline forever lipcolors and maybelline superstays which are both discontinued!
I also saw the LOreal Wear Infinite Hope Quads which were limited edition,e.l.f. defining eye brush, LA Colors mineral shadows, maybelline unstoppable liners in jade and a dark gray(unsure of exact name),e.l.f. studio eyeshadow singles, NYC eyeshadow palettes, and LA Colors eyeshaodw palettes(8 pan and 6 pan, I think)
