Recently I was lucky enough to receive some haircare products for review from White Sands. At the time that I was contacted by White Sands, I knew that other bloggers had raved about their products, and I was definitely interested to try them myself. But then, a few weeks later, I realized that A LOT of TV shows that we all know and love have hairstylists who use White Sands products on their actors and actresses. TV programs such as TrueBlood, Saturday Night Live, How I Met Your Mother, Sons of Anarchy, The new 90210, Dancing with the Stars, The Big Bang Theory, and many, many more all have hairstylists that keep White Sands on hand in their hair and makeup trailers. So if White Sands is good enough to have possibly touched the gorgeous mane of Alexander Skarsgard, then it's surely good enough for me! ;)
Let's start with White Sands Volumizing Shampoo (retail: $12, 7.6 oz) and Volumizing Conditioner (retail: $15, 7.6 oz).
Now I know what you're probably thinking: $15 a bottle is a little steep for a shampoo and conditioner. I thought that too, until I actually tried these products. As you all are probably quite aware by now, it's HARD to find good SLS-free cleansing products that lather enough to actually cleanse your hair. Most of the time you'll have to pay over $20 a bottle for products as good as these (have you see the prices of Purology products lately??) so $12 for this shampoo isn't bad considering the quality of the product.
What I first noticed about White Sands Volumizing Shampoo is the gorgeous fragrance. To my nose, it reminds me a lot of the scent of Thymes Naia products (which I raved about here, and is still one of my very favorite fragrances ever). This shampoo smells clean, natural, soft, and invigorating all at the same time. Also, I had absolutely no problems at all with getting this shampoo to create a rich, thick lather in my hair, even when using a small amount (on my long hair I only need to use about a teaspoon in the palm of my hand).
White Sands Volumizing Conditioner also smells amazing (it's got a fresh and soft minty scent) and it's one of the only conditioners currently in my shower that not only conditions my hair, but allows me to actually skip a day of cleansing if I want to. My hair is very oily at the roots, which means I normally can't stand to go more than one day without washing it. But when I use this conditioner, it somehow leaves my hair incredibly soft and full, yet it doesn't deposit so much hydration that I wake up the next morning with the greasies.
Used together, White Sands Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner leave my hair extremely soft and WOW, the volume! I cannot believe how big and bouncy my natural waves are when I use these products. If you've got oily hair and issues with volume, I would definitely give these product a whirl.
Next we have White Sands Liquid Texture Soft Hold Spray (retail: $19, 8.5 oz).
If you've got unruly curly or wavy hair, this may quite possibly be your dream product. I've been using this styling product right after I get out of the shower, when my hair is still very wet. I spray it on from roots to ends (I don't saturate with my hair with it, but I'm not too stingy with it either), and when I let my hair air-dry, it's amazing what this product can do. I am left with the most perfectly defined curls that are not crunchy to the touch! And the best part, my curls stay defined all day long. There is never a need for me to reapply product when I use this. I've also tried using the Liquid Texture Soft Hold to dry hair, and it works almost like a volumizing hairspray when you use it on dry hair. A few squirts to the roots and you've got nice volume that lasts. My favorite thing about this product is that it never flakes or gets cakey like other liquid texture products have a tendency to do.
Have you used White Sands haircare products? I've love to hear your thoughts!
