But despite all that, I've had about half a dozen people never respond to my "Congratulations" emails during this giveaway series, and they have all forfeited their prizes. The sunny side of this situation is that new winners have been chosen, and the new winners are all extremely happy to claim the prizes. Yay!

ReplyDeleteI have been out of town on serious family business weekdays of the last two weeks. It is cell hell at the home where I was staying ( caring for seriously injured relative so I couldn't run to the nearest wi-fi place either).
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that some of the folks who didn't respond to you might have a legitimate reason why they just couldn't.
I HATE being away from my internet and, worst of all, my smartphone is worthless in that situation too! I didn't get drawn, but I would have been sick to get home this weekend and see that I missed it!
I'm always terrified I'll win and the email will go into my spam folder, so I check the websites I enter contests on just in case. I really love that you announce the winners on here as well as sending them the emails. :D

ReplyDeleteDenise: Totally understood, and I was actually waiting for someone to read my post and bring this up. I fully understand that emergencies happen (and I'm very sorry for your family emergency). I understand that this could have happened to maybe 1 or 2 of the people I emailed, but all SIX? I think that maybe some people (none of my readers, of course!) may enter blog giveaways by the hundreds every day and therefore can't keep track of when they expire, etc. All it would take is for the winner to go on my blog the day after the giveaway ends to see if they won, and that's why I always post the winners' screen names. It's extra insurance in case someone misses my email. But anyway, I guess my point is that if you're entering dozens and dozens of giveaways at a time (which is TOTALLY fine!) it might get hard to keep track of the times you actually WIN one! lol. It breaks my heart to send the "I'm sorry but you didn't respond in time so you've forfeited your prizes" emails. It really does. I think I actually say "I'm so sorry" about three times in each email. I hate to see anyone lose a prize. But rules are rules and I'd be going out of my MIND right now if I didn't set these rules. I hope you understand (and thankfully you didn't win one of my prizes while you were away or I'd feel REALLY guilty!). xo

It's a lot of work, but I think everyone who enters one of my giveaways is entitled to know who won (it's kind of fun too see the winners, right?) so that's why I always do it. Plus it's that extra insurance in case someone DIDN'T see my email. :) xo
