Well that's exactly what has been happening for almost a decade now, thanks to the poll sponsored by behindthechair.com, which asks its members to vote for, among other things, their favorite deep conditioner. And the landslide winner for all these years? Any guesses? OK, I'll tell you:
Joico K-PAK Deep-Penetrating Reconstructor, which retails for around $20 a tube.
I don't know about you, but I am in desperate need of a good deep-conditioning these days, thanks to the hot summer sun, mixed with my already-dry, color-treated ends. But I've got to be honest: Twenty bucks is a little steep for me, so I'd like to hear from you before I take the plunge. Should I listen to the experts and give this product a shot? If you've used K-PAK, what has your experience been? Is this your holy grail deep conditioner? Is there a better one out there, for less money? Tell me, please!
I say go for it! It's nice to splurge and spoil yourself every now and then :) Especially on something that has gotten such good reviews!
ReplyDeleteHey Trisha! Good point. :) But I would love to hear from someone who has actually used it--have you tried it before?
ReplyDeletehey R, you know i like to save money, but I would splurge on an excellent hair treatment. Right now, I splurge on Redken's butter treatment (I think it is all soft).
ReplyDeleteHowever, I would have to do some research to warrant the purchase. One time I bought Terax condish because of all the raves. It was poopoo.
Check mua's hair board for comments on the k-pak. I see it mentioned on the board a lot. I just got the generic version of the k-pak at sally's. I haven't tried it yet though.

Hey T! Yeah, I checked the boards and product reviews and, for the most part, people seem to love this stuff. But I guess you don't really see instant results and the majority of people said that they had to use it repeatedly for it to really improve the texture of their hair. I guess that's fairly common for a protein treatment? Anyway, I don't really feel like I can afford to get sucked into a product that I have to keep repurchasing and using a lot so I might skip this. I was hoping to get some more feedback here but I guess I'm not the only one who has yet to try K-PAK!
ReplyDeletePlease let me know what you think when you try the Sally's version? I'd love to know your thoughts!
I've used Joico products for years and they are worth every penny. I have used the K-PAK many times and it's one splurge you can't go wrong with. I get mine at ULTA and they usually sell the Joico and K-PAK products in promo sets. Because the conditioner works so well, you really don't need to use a lot, so the $20 tube goes a long way. Joico makes EXCELLENT styling products as well.
ReplyDeleteJoico stuff is great but go to SALLY'S! The generic k-pak is the same exact thing for $5ish, and smells like coconuts (bonus!).
ReplyDeleteHey Toma! Wow, thank you for the glowing Joico review! I was hoping to hear from someone who uses/loves K-PAK! And wow, thank you for the tip about Ulta--I never thought to look for it there. I must check this out asap. :)
ReplyDeleteHey Alyson! Wow, so you've used both the real thing and the Sally version! Did you use the real thing first and then switch over to Sally? I'm thinking of maybe starting with the real thing, and then if I get hooked, switch over to the Sally and see how that works. Thanks!
If people say it works, go for it. Joico's a pretty respected brand in the industry. Deep conditioners are always tricky though, no one works for every person's hair. Something to keep in mind. We should do a side-by-side review, you review the Sally's one, and I'll review the real one. It'd be funny if yours worked better than mine LOL. That sounds like fun! Hahahaha. <3 DM me and lemme know what you think.
ReplyDeleteAnthony, that is a GREAT idea!! Let's do it! I'll review the Sally version and you review the real one! I'll DM you. :)
