I don't know why I always mess this up but please note: In the swatches, MAC "Satin Taupe" is on the RIGHT, and L'Oreal HiP "Sassy" is on the LEFT. Sorry that the product pic has them the other way around!
That said, I already wrote about a Satin Taupe dupe here, but I recently read on several message boards that there was a super close dupe for MAC "Satin Taupe" ($14.50) in the HiP duo "Sassy" ($6.99). Since I just bought Sassy a few weeks, I had to bust them out and see for myself. Well...it's pretty darn close in terms of the basic color, but as you can see in the swatches, Satin Taupe has a little bit more of a silver shimmer while Sassy's shimmer is a tad bit warmer.
In terms of the consistency of the powder and application, I'm VERY impressed with HiP Sassy. This is one of the few drugstore eyeshadows that very closely resembles a MAC shadow in terms of how smoothly it goes on and how easily it blends. In my opinion, a lot of drugstore eyeshadows are not as finely milled and go on a little rough. This is definitely not the case with Sassy.
My final take on this dupe: It's VERY close. Satin Taupe's pigment is deeper and a little more on the cool side, while Sassy's pigment is a little bit weaker and the shimmer is a tad bit more on the warm side. All in all, I could definitely use Sassy in place of Satin Taupe and I don't think anybody could tell the difference.
Oh, and Rite-Aid has a BOGO this week on HiP :)
