And last but certainly not least:
I want to take a moment to discuss the Holiday 2013 Profusion Twinkle Twinkle 5-pan palettes that are now popping up at Walgreens for $1 each. Several of you have mentioned these to me in the past few weeks, and reader @misslarissavalen on Instagram shared some pics of these a few weeks ago:

the neutral (Naked-ish) palette
For some weird reason, when I uploaded the above photo to my blog, the dark brown shade on the far right turned red. It's not red, just for the record, it's brown.
Longtime reader Kris Feral sent me a very helpful email the other day alerting me to some gems in these palettes. He mentioned that Profusion palettes are often hit or miss (I totally agree), but check this out:
Kris writes:
There's a neutral palette, a brights palette, a green and neutral palette, and the first palette I picked up and which caused me to buy all of the others, the smokey palette. The smokey palette is also the one I might pick up a backup of if only because it has an incredibly intense satin textured black and, the standout shade, a grayed iridescent lilac. So unique and, in a one dollar palette (yes! One dollar!), extremely unexpected.
Color me SOLD! I have to get some of these--I mean, they're a buck!
If you know of any other recent UD Naked dupes that are not on this list, I would LOVE to hear about them! And thanks to Larissa for the great pics and Kris Feral for the great tips about the Profusion palettes at Walgreens!
The Quo Back to Basics is already on your list, but just to update that it's back this year, still a holiday LE item though, so it could be gone quick
ReplyDeleteG, I did see the Naturale palettes at Sally Beauty tonight. 97005 I controlled myself from buying one. I'm so curious about the texture and pigmentation. I would like to get the Lorac Pro Rocken Red Hot Set.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Annette! I updated my post with a shout-out to you for this tip! :D
DeleteI picked up the $1 Profusion green/neutral palette the other day because it was only a buck! So I thought to myself, hey what the heck it's only a buck, you really can't go wrong. Now I'm going to have to go back for the smokey colors because they sound amazing! :D
ReplyDeleteI agree that profusion is hit or miss but for the incredibly cheap price I feel that you can never go wrong in giving it a try!
ReplyDeleteWhat is Profusion and why is it so cheap??
ReplyDeleteThe Profusion Smokey palette sounds amazing! Normally I'd pass, but I'll have to scope this one out.
ReplyDeleteG I got all 4 of these at one of the Walgreen near me back towards the end of summer. There are 4 other Walgreens that did not get them since. So ladies look carefully. Luck! Luv
ReplyDeleteI did swatches & a review + tutorial with the Profusion palettes... You really need to check it out! The pigmentation on my favorite one is wild!
ReplyDeleteI know, they are shockingly nice! I
DeleteThey are shockingly nice! I got two and love them, huge pans of buttery soft pigmented e/s for a buck apiece?! Insane. Almost got their Naked dupes but passed since I couldn't really justify them but for a couple bucks I had to. Glad I did.
Deletei think we need a Kris Feral interview sometime! he sounds cool. I'm loving this list. I decided last year that I wanted the LORAC palette, or the Balm's similar one, so now it's just a question of which one goes on sale or on Hautelook first.
ReplyDeleteI saw the Sonia Kashuk palette at Target, beware, it is very small, in my opinion, not worth the price tag...just saying
ReplyDeleteYeah, I went to Target with the intent to buy since I had wanted both palettes for a while, but was disappointed with how small they were.
Deletei agree! the pans are tiny in my opinion. i WOULD have been an Awesom deal if it had been the size of the original ones but when i had it in hand i though "How am i supposed to fit a shader brush in these pans?" getting an eye look done would take forever
DeleteIs Kris a makeup artist? If not I would love to know if a MUA has purchased these and what their thoughts are. I just think it would be so cool if these really, honestly, seriously rock regarding fallout and pigment payoff!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the Sonia Kashuk palette was at the pop-up store in Grand Central this week. I didn't pick it up, but I'd check back on the Target website for it on November 10th when they launch the Bath & Body collection in-stores.
ReplyDeleteI bought a profusion palette at Walgreens..it's called the U adore me! 24 color palette. This is a Naked and Naked 2 dupe...I compared it to both and it is a really close match...and I believe I only paid around 2 bucks for it! I can send pics if interested..
ReplyDeleteplease do! Lol if not to her then to me!! :P
DeleteI am very interested as well to see the pics. I hope you can post them. I also wanted to know has anyone ever tried Giordano Color cosmetics? I see they have different gift set palettes at Walgreens for $5.00.
DeleteCould you send pictures or let me know where they are posted? I was interested by comments. I bought the one with black but haven't tried it yet.
DeleteI have that neutral palette pictured and it's not all that bad. Especially since it was only a buck! The darkest shade, which is a reddish brown, is probably the least pigmented but it can be built up. That color right next to the brown is so pretty! It's like an antiqued/olive gold.
ReplyDeleteI want to try the sally palettes, wonder if they are any good? Has anyone tried them?
ReplyDeleteA reader on instagram said she actually found the Sally palettes at Walgreens (for $8) and that the pigmentation was really nice, but that she did have to go in and add a bit more after blending. Hope that helps!
DeleteThanks so much, G., do not know what I would do without your blog. It is , literally, the first thing I look at in the morning and last thing before I go to sleep! I am a makeup junkie in small town, Indiana, and have been since I swiped my moms estee lauder eyeshadow at age 7 to paint myself as Cleopatra- just for fun!! Thanks for all you share on this blog!
Deletethat sonia kashuk palette looks awesome! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI just got a profusion palette from walgreens that has similar packaging to the new UD Face Cases. I got the one with the gold bedazzling on the cover and it is primarily made up of neutral colors. The top layer is 14 shimmers that are primarily neutral with an emerald and a plum. The bottom layer has 9 neutral shadows, 5 of which look matte. Then there are two blushes, a bright pink and a darker one, and 6 lip colors, one of which is clear. Pigmentation is good with the shimmers from what I've seen so far.
ReplyDeleteJust picked up three of the Profusion palettes (all but the bright colored one) at Walgreens for 3 bucks. Would never have tried them but for Kris' recommendation, and I'm looking forward to playing with them tomorrow. Thanks so much G (and Kris!) for all you do to put a little budget-friendly fun into our lives!
ReplyDeleteJust got the Sonia kashuk palette at my target- it wasn't out on the floor yet and asked someone in the back find it- I too was disappointed in the size hoping the pans were bigger- since the promo picture makes it seem the palette is double the size- the palette is actually the same size as one of the regular 12 pan palettes of theirs- so each eyeshadow in this palette is about half the size of one shadow of the regular 12 pan palette. For me I still liked the idea of having multiple neutral shadows mattes and in one palette- this palette is small/compact and it has a large mirror- although I don't think it's the greatest deal since you can buy the 2 regular palettes separately for $10 more and get double the product- idk I'm a huge sucker for having a palette that is compact and easy to travel with and has a nice array of neutral shimmer and matte colors all in one. And although these eyeshadows seem very small- I have palettes that have eyeshadows that are roughly the same size that I use on a regular basis and I still have yet to hit pan.
ReplyDeleteThank you for that information!
DeleteThanks for commenting! I don't own either of them, but I did get the SK Jewel of an Eye palette and really liked it. You're right, having that many shimmery and mattes together is SO appealing to me! I'm so tempted to go search for it! :P
DeleteI purchased the profusion one dollar smoky palette. The lilac grey is amazing. Kris was right it is unique. I will definitely get a backup
