A huge thanks to reader Jessica for the heads-up about this one: Sally Beauty is currently giving out FREE bottles of Orly polish or treatment (full size) with any $3 purchase. What?! Yep! Combined with the current 50% off red tag clearance sale (going on now through Sunday, 2/10), that's a heck of a deal!
A huge thanks to my pal Halifax for letting me know that Sally Beauty actually tweeted about this offer today. Here are the details:
With any $3 purchase at your local Sally Beauty, simply use store coupon number 555105 at checkout to get your FREE full-size bottle of Orly polish or treatment, now through Monday, 2/18!
Like both Jessica and Halifax said, this is probably Sally's way of getting rid of the old bottles to make room for the newly-redesigned bottles.
Thanks again, Jessica and Halifax, for the great tip! Perfect timing since I just ran out of my favorite base coat, Orly Bonder!
Wow this IS a great deal! Thanks for the heads-up :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! :)
Deletegreat sale
ReplyDeleteI just got back from there and got some great deals. I never would have known about the sale without your blog. You rock! One question - they didn't give me this deal and I didn't know to ask. Do you think I can go back tomorrow and they'll honor it. Not sure how good they are with that type of thing.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea, but it never hurts to try! I would being your receipt, and the code, and see if they will. Good luck, and please let us know how it goes?
DeleteJust a note, I'm not sure Bonder is among those that are free. At my location, the free items are mostly polish, not treatment (only saw 1 bottle of top coat)
ReplyDeleteHum...it says ”or treatment” right on the coupon. Maybe your store was already out of the old stock?
DeleteJust to clarify, I definitely got my free Orly, no coupon necessary.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! :) I've heard from other readers today who didn't know about the code and did NOT get a free polish, so it sounds like it really depends on the store...
Deleteno fair! i just came back from there and didnt see anything for this? should i go back and show my receipt?
ReplyDeleteYeah, if you look at the comment above, it looks like some stores are automatically honoring this promotion, while at other stores you have to give them the code. I don't know if it will work, but you might want to go back, with your receipt and the code, and see it they'll give you one. Never hurts to ask!
DeleteI just called because I missed this deal, and just got home with my clearance goodies. They said it has to be a regular priced item not from clearance. She said buy something regular price at least $3 worth and get a free Orly top coat. I do believe she was the store manager. I'm not sure if she just doesn't know or that's how the deal works?
ReplyDeleteYou may want to go in and show them the ad above. The ad says ANY (in all caps) purchase, and it even says something about $3 after all discounts have been applied (meaning after the clearance deductions have been taken). Also, there is nothing in this ad about it only being a free top coat. It's lacquers or treatments. I would also tell them that Sally Beauty tweeted this ad themselves.
DeleteI went to 3 different Sally's in my area to check out the clearance stuff, and all 3 gave me my Orly with only clearance items purchased.
DeleteOk, now I'm annoyed. I was just at Sally Beauty this morning for more polish thinner, and their clearance rack was small, sad, and picked over. Also, there was ZERO mention of the free Orly polish with $3 purchase. There were tags that Orly was $11/2, but that's it. Boo.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that, but like I said, clearance inventory does vary from store to store. :(
DeleteThe ad does state that it's ”select lacquers and treatments” which probably means it's the products in the old style bottles. So maybe your store has already sold out of those?
Oh, I also wanted to mention that my Sally Beauty already had all the new bottle designs out on the display, only a select few (treatments, I think) still had the old style "O" bottles.
ReplyDeleteAaah, then those in the old style are probably what you'd get for free...
DeleteYes, that is what is free - whatever stock is still in that is in old bottles or for the treatments has to be in the old boxes. When I went in it was the first day of the sale last week and they did not offer any color polishes at all despite they had lots of the old bottles in - they were only offering the old box treatments. Like Stacey says below - there is been a lot of mix up. But I did get a bottle of my go to base which is Orly Nail Armor for free and I picked up a set of Tweezerman tweezers to put in my travel bag as I always forget them when I travel - so now there is a little bag in my suitcase that will live there with a few key implements that always have to get re-bought - now don't need to do that anymore...they live in my suitcase!
DeleteStores just found out about this today. They pretty much dropped it in our laps, and I know at my store the codes weren't even working correctly. Be patient :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you SO MUCH for this comment!! This completely explains all of the mixed reports i'm seeing here and on Facebook about this promotion. So thank you again, for taking the time to let us know. I really appreciate it! :)
DeleteAwesome wish my store had a better clearance section its so itty bitty! This makes it worth the hunt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this deal, G! I heard it from you before Sally's sent their email promoting it.
ReplyDeleteSo I woke up this morning to an email from Sally Beauty with the same ad for the free Orly polish with $3 purchase in this post. At the bottom of the graphic it says that the deal expires February 18, 2013, but below that in the fine print it says that it expires 2/28/13. Two different dates!
ReplyDeleteThe ladies at the Sally I visited today told me the free Orly for $3 spent sale would run thru 2/28, "or while supplies last".
DeleteI was at Sally's yesterday and they did not mention this promotion! I am so bummed. I'm gonna try to go back there and show them my receipt so I can get my free polish. I got the email about this promotion from Sally's this morning! I spent $6 on clearance stuff yesterday (including a China Glaze holiday set for $2,.49! yay). I hope I can get my free polish!
ReplyDeleteI just came back from Sally. They didn't have much on clearance, only a few China Glaze magnetic nail polishes but they did have b1g1 free on China Glaze cirque du soleil items! Also the coupon code didn't work at my store but since I brought a print out with me they just marked the price of the orly item as $0. I got the Bonder Basecoat for free! I think I'm gonna go to the Sally's closer to my work tomorrow and do the same thing :P
ReplyDeletePicked up my free Orly Bonder along with some great 50% off clearance deals!
ReplyDeleteI just got home from Sally. My Sally is small and their clearance section is ALWAYS sad! So I wasn't expecting much but I went if for a nail file anyway, not the sale! Anyway, my sally was great...I had a 15% off coupon which I used on my regular priced items and I did find one Orly mini on clearance that I picked up ($.75!). They had a big basket full of the Orly nail polishes on the counter and the woman that assisted me at check out brought it over and told me to pick one. I didn't even have to ask! The colors were so picked over but I did manage to find a pretty, sparkle purple!
ReplyDeleteMy store would only let me select from the old style bottles which they pulled into a shopping basket, which were unfortunately filled with "bleh" colors. Still, got a few decent deals on a few clearance polishes-- all stuff that was left over from xmas lines.
ReplyDeleteI did not have to pick from sale table items - the Sally's I was at let me pick up anything in the store that came to at least $3 and then I got a free Orly treatment - they were not selling the old polish colors at all - just the treatments.
DeleteI was informed of the deal when in walked in the store, which was awesome! The polish rang up at $3 though. Guess I'll be going back.
ReplyDeletePicked up Winter Affair mini set by CC for 2.50, China Glaze Rare & Radiant, and some extensions, as well as Orly RIP fr last Halloween. Received Orly Royal Velvet and Flagstone Rush for free. I asked if I could do two transactions bc I like the old bottles and I couldn't decide between the two. Sales associate was a sweetheart and hooked me up.
ReplyDeleteAlso my local Meijer had OPI, Maybelline Color Show and L'oreal LEs for .79-2.12 each,
G you are a VERY bad G for what you do to my budget and makeup hoarding. ;) MWAH!
My Sally's (AZ) had a different deal going on, and no mention of this deal anywhere. If you bought one of the new ORLY bottles you could get one of the old bottle free.
ReplyDeleteMy Sally said it was free when I sign up for Beauty Card told her that's not what the ad said and got it free any how! Close mouths don't get fed!
ReplyDeleteMy store didn't have the free Orly polishes. All the old bottles were gone! But, for free, we got a mini Orly cuticle oil of some sort!
ReplyDeleteI scored big with this sale. I went to 3 Sally's locations (I'm in Dallas) and wound up with the entire CG Bohemian collection at something like $1.50 a bottle. The few CG Hunger Games polishes left were $.50 a bottle! 2 stores had small boxes of the Orly bonus bottles near the counter, but the last store I was at had a huge basket of the Orly bonus bottles. I couldn't pick just one, so I offered to buy additional ones for the price of the Orly bottles that were on clearance. Since the clerk couldn't ring them up that way, she just did a bunch of separate orders for me so I could get a few bonus ones. Cheaty, I know, but she was super nice to offer to do that for me and I was grateful.
ReplyDeleteI had to ask to get the orly. I'm glad I didn't assume they'd give it! They only had the milky white color and toast of the town left. I didn't find what I was looking for from looking at the sale online but they had GREAT deals on Gelish!! I bought 6 for $30 and they were mostly decent colors!
ReplyDeleteThe Sally's in West Orlando can't seem to wrap their little brains around this promo.
ReplyDeleteMy store was definitely on top of the promo. They had a shopping basket full of bottles., and you could choose polish or treatments, I got the last bottle of gumdrop. I also used my five dollar coupon, from renewing my Sally's card last month so really didn't spend three dollars " after all discounts". I picked up seche vite top coat ( never used it) so it was 1.50 something after my coupon and I still got the free orly.
DeleteScored me some Orly polish!! My first high end nail polish EVER! Coffee Break and Gumdrop and some glittery top coat! I am so excited! Because of your blog I have ventured into new territory and loving every minute! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI was in a couple different Sallys about a week ago, and the Orly switchover from old to new was already in place. I asked about the old bottles, and was told that they were being donated to beauty schools.
ReplyDeleteSo...I think the $3 promo isn't about getting rid of the old. I heard a Sallys sales associate say that Orly has updated their formula, so I imagine this is about encouraging the customers to try out the new version.
The store I went to yesterday didn't even know about the promotion. We showed them the ad and they couldn't even make it work. Extremely dissapointing.
ReplyDeleteMy store had a huge clearance section and I got so many polishes. I went crazy! The polishes were .29 to 1.50. I got China Glaze, Orly, Color Club, and Finger Paints. I got the bohemian collection and a China Glaze shot glass. I got Color club scented polishes and minis from every brand but the Finger Paints. I also bought one new Orly design bottle and I got the Orly polish thinner as my free Orly with purchase. My store had a shopping basket full of beautiful colors and treatments. It was hard for me to choose. I wish I had of thought to do the separate orders because I did buy a lot of stuff. Definitely going back before the 28th and I'll be going to another Sally's in another state soon.
