Rite Aid Fielding Run/Walk Teams; Revlon Donating$25,000 in Rite Aid Product Sales for Women's Cancer Research
CAMP HILL, PA (May 3, 2012) – Rite Aid is proud to be supporting the 2012 Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) Revlon Run/Walk For Women by partnering with Revlon to donate $25,000 of beauty product proceeds to support the Entertainment Industry Foundation's fight against women's cancers. Rite Aid is also offering Revlon coupons online, selling Revlon nail polish shades exclusive to Rite Aid and fielding run/walk teams for both the New York and Los Angeles events. The New York event on Saturday, May 5, will be led by a pace car carrying the Massachusetts woman whose inspiring account of a coworker's battle with cancer won a national contest to name one of the new nail polish shades.
Called "Strength of Pink," the shimmery, light pink shade was chosen as the winner of the "Your Story… Your Shade" contest held on Rite Aid's Facebook page in October in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Melissa Moulton of Mansfield, Mass., named the shade in honor of a coworker who fought through cancer treatment all while continuing to help colleagues by working from home. As part of her Rite Aid/Revlon prize package, Moulton is bringing guest Robin DiFlaminies to lead Saturday's event starting in Times Square. DiFlaminies' bout with breast cancer inspired Moulton's winning entry.
"Her strength and courage has shown me that no matter what we face in our own lives, we still have enough love in our hearts to hold the hand of a friend," said Moulton, who works at the same Norwood, Mass., environmental firm as DiFlaminies. "Even during her time of difficulty, she was always there for her family and others without skipping a beat."
"Strength of Pink" is on sale now in all 4,700 Rite Aid stores nationwide along with the runner-up shade "Empower," a vibrant, dark pink shade that was named to honor the supportive husband of a different breast cancer survivor. Both shades are available exclusively at Rite Aid. In order to encourage customers to try the new shades, Rite Aid is offering coupons through www.facebook.com/riteaid that are good for a $1 off Revlon nail products. While visiting Rite Aid's Facebook, fans can catch live updates and view photos from the New York event, which will also be Tweeted through Rite Aid's Twitter account. The Los Angeles event on May 12 will also feature a Rite Aid team.
EIF Revlon Run/Walk For Women was launched in 1994 through the combined efforts of Lilly Tartikoff, Ronald O. Perelman, chairman of Revlon, Inc. and EIF. Since inception, more than $65 Million in grants have been made from the combined events in New York and Los Angeles. Proceeds from past EIF Revlon Run/Walks have funded cutting-edge research, contributing to the development of the breakthrough gene treatment Herceptin® as well as other targeted therapies, bringing new and innovative treatment approaches to women’s cancers worldwide. Money raised has also helped numerous organizations in providing education, advocacy and outreach services to those affected by women’s cancers. For more information, visit www.revlonrunwalk.org.
