Longtime readers of this blog know that Physicians Formula Healthy Wear Powder Foundation SPF50 is my absolute Holy Grail foundation. Ever since I reviewed it back in 2009, I've been using it religiously and I even stocked up and bought seven compacts during the last CVS Beauty Clearance Sale.
For weeks now, I've been noticing that the drugstores in my area no longer carry the Healthy Wear line, which led me to believe that my beloved foundation had been discontinued. In fact, I started coming to terms with this possibility and wondered what I would do about a replacement. I've spoken to several of you about this potentially sad news, and it seemed we were all in the same boat. Devastating!
I had been trying to contact Physicians Formula via Twitter to see if they could confirm whether or not this product was being discontinued, but I didn't have any luck. Yesterday I decided to ask them on Facebook for an answer and guess what? They responded the very next morning!
My question to them:
I saw these on clearance last weekend at Target as well. In case you wanna stock up, you could check out Target. I went to a Super Target but I think the normal Targets will have them too! :)
ReplyDeleteIf i remember correctly, I saw them in-store at my Ulta yesterday. Glad it's not being discontinued! You have a good stockpile! :]
ReplyDeleteI picked this foundation up a couple weeks ago at Fry's because it was 50% off! I had never tried it before, but now that I have it, I love it! Glad it's not discontinued.
ReplyDeleteThe only place I have ever seen it in my area (in store) is Ulta. Hopefully it will stay there!
ReplyDeleteI got one from Rite Aid about a month ago at 75% after searching 4 stores. Because of the deep discount I thought it was discontinued as well. Glad to hear that it isn't so. I am with you, G, don't like the fact that I can get them in stores any more.
ReplyDeleteI love this product!! I read your review on it and went to pick it up at CVS when it was 75% off. I used it for a couple days and went back and bought the rest lol. I went to all the CVS stores in my area and ended up buying 15 or so just in case. I also read that you were thinking it may be a problem for people with dry skin but it works perfect for me and i have SUPER dry skin and SUPER sensitive skin. I dont have to use liquid foundation under it. I just use Vanicream then i use a green primer to tone down redness and slap on this product and im ready to go. I just hoping it holds up during the Texas summer that is coming up. Thanks again for your review on this product!!! I've been trying to find the perfect foundation for years!
ReplyDeletea lot of harder to find pf products are on sites like drugstore .com that's where i get all my stuff that is hard to find at least.
ReplyDeleteSigh ... limited distribution may as well be discontinued :-( If it's not being d/c, why the limited distribution, I ask?
ReplyDeleteIf it ends up only being available for sale online, I'm out. Gotta find a suitable substitution when MY stash runs out :-(
YEY! :D
ReplyDeletethanks for the news!
Aww, it's a very good powder. I'm glad it's not being discontinued but sad it's being limited.
ReplyDeleteI cannot find Pearls of Perfection in Translucent in my area, it was the first powder I used and really loved... But it's available online! Seems to be a Physician's Formula thing. I picked up one of these when it was on clearance based on your recommendation but got the completely wrong shade for myself, I'm hoping I can use it during summer when I've got a bit more color!
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for this foundation everywhere as well based upon your recommendation, and once I found it - one lonely little compact on clearance at a Target 2 hrs away from where I live - I absolutely fell in love with it. Since then I have been purchasing it online through Drugstore.com where they sell all the entire color range & I can get it during their 20% off beauty discount sales. So I have been stocking up & stashing away a few here & there. I'm sorry, if I would have even thought again about it I should have put it out on blast in the "You Tell Me" section, but it never even crossed my mind.
ReplyDeleteLimited distribution.... makes me wonder but there are several things on the site that have been up for some time that are limited distribution. I am chalking it up to the fact that PF is not one of the hottest selling DS brands because of the price. Since gas prices are so high, I am more likely to repurchase it online anyways. It saves me from having to hunt it down in the stores. :-)
ReplyDeleteIf it were me, I would be assuming the worst. It may not be discontinued now... but all the signs are there. I don't know why they seem to always discontinue the best products in a line... I have a Revlon bronzer that is my HG that was discontinued last year.. it had almost a 5 lippie rating on makeup alley. Same thing with the highlighter from the same collection. I can understand if the product is junk, or nobody likes it....
ReplyDeletefirst at all I love your blog!!! I started using this porduct after I read ur CVS haul and u mentioned that was your HG foundation, never find it at CVs but bought at Ulta few days later, and I love it!!! is my setting powder when I use liquid foundation or just want I want light coverage. Now I cant find it anywhere! (actually one the targets close to my home stop selling the whole PF line!) Ulta carries just 2 colors (LT and MT), ebay...$17.99... is that a joke right? amazon not that bad (if u get a decent shipping price) Im glad the said it will not be discontinued, but all the signs are there... if u go to their home page on their website, is not included on their product lines anymore! so save that link chicas and stock up!!! thanks for such an amazing blog :)
ReplyDeleteThe Target and Walmart near me are still stocking it, so check there...although it may have gone on clearance at Target since lots of others are mentioning that and I haven't been to Target in a couple weeks.
ReplyDeleteMADE MY DAY!! So glad it's not being discontinued!
ReplyDeleteI specifically looked for this at ulta today... and they had it! Granted that might be just my ulta, but I hope that gives you some hope! They were a little hidden around the rest of the powders and they might have only had one shade, but I definitely saw them!
ReplyDeleteI've spotted the tinted moisturizer of this collection at my local Ross for $5.99!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this info G I also love this powder and I was looking for more of these at cvs but they were obviously sold out, before using this powder I used the Perfectly Real Compact Makeup from Clinique. I check your blog everyday because you always know about the best deals before anyone thanks for the great blog :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the news G! I also find them on drugstore.com!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Thank you all SO much for the fantastic info! This is so incredibly helpful, and I'm thrilled that this product seems to have worked so well for so many of you!!! Thanks again, lovelies!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteExcellent. I picked this up on a whim during the CVS sale, and fell in love with it so hard that I picked up a backup. Good to know it'll still be around!
ReplyDeleteLast summer I carried around the elf studio spf 45 powder in a small container with a retractable kabuki brush, but I really wanted a pressed powder with a high spf.
ReplyDeleteI finally got this for 75% off at the CVS sale and got the last one. I was concerned it was getting discontinued, so every time I was in the drugstores, I'd check to see if they have it- along with the shimmer strips gel liners- Anyone know if they are getting discontinued?! I love those!
But I still haven't seen it in any stores nearby! I did see that you can get it on drugstore.com and the item qualifies for free shipping.
I haven't used this as a foundation, just as a powder, but I love keeping it in my purse to use on the go. I have dry skin but my nose gets oily one day, and then it's dry the next- this powder works great for my skin.
I got the remaining two from my Ulta today for only $4 each!! I think they mispriced it or something but they had to honor the listed price! So excited to try it!
ReplyDeleteI've had terribly bad luck with choosing the right shade. :( Can anyone describe how translucent medium/creamy beige/natural beige compare to each other?? I'm really unsure how to tell from photos and can't find any in stores at all. I'm about an NC 25-30 but found some PF products to be on the pinker side which I was so bummed about.
ReplyDeleteHi there! This was my HG product too! I noticed even the PF website has pulled the product down now - so you can't find it anywhere except eBay these days. Have you found any suitable alternatives since then? Maybe a cool post you could do would be dupes of the PF Healthy Wear powder!
