I know I always say it, but man I love my local Rite Aid stores. They seem to get so many of the new makeup displays quicker than any other drugstores in my area, and I must have good "makeup karma" because whenever I stumble across these displays, they are pretty complete (as opposed to being wiped clean by fellow makeup junkies). So let's get straight to the pics!
First up, the new Revlon Suede Rhapsody Collection:
(click any image to enlarge, again to magnify)
If you are a fan of suedes and mattes, this is the collection for you!
The lovely Vex in the City has swatches of two of the nail colors in this collection, as well as the eyeshadow palette, so definitely check those out here. Her post actually helped me to refrain from purchasing the polishes because, try as I might, I'm just not a big matte polish fan. BUT, she created a lemming in me for this eyeshadow palette (darn you, Vex!). It just looks so gorgeous on her!
OK, so I know that there are so many of us here who are huge fans of Revlon's matte lipsticks (I've shown you my love of these in the past--click here if you missed it). Hands down, these are THE BEST MATTE LIPSTICKS YOU WILL FIND AT THE DRUGSTORE, so how happy are we to have so many new shades?!
As for that little multi-use palette on the right side of the display, I tried to take a close-up pic of it to better show you what's going on:
Folks, this is one TINY palette. I'd be surprised if it even measures two inches across. Revlon really packed a lot into this though, with a lip color (red), two cheek colors (white and coral) and two eye colors (brown and gray). Also, there's apparently a lip brush tucked inside this package as well! The only potential problem I can see is the ease of use. The square pans on the top layer (cheeks and eyes) are so small that they barely seem to be the size of my fingertip. So getting product out of these pans might be an issue unless you always use a brush. I'd LOVE to hear what any of you think of this compact if you get one.
Next up, the Limited Edition L'Oreal Midnight Muse Collection:
I knew that berries, plums and rich chocolate browns were going to be huge this season, but I never expected to see so many of them in one LE collection! L'Oreal really outdid themselves with this one. If you love rich berries, vampy plums and chocolate browns, you are going to LOVE the assortment of lipsticks, glosses and polishes here. My only complaint is that there is just ONE bottle of polish and ONE tube of gloss per shade (there are two tubes of lipstick per shade) in this display. Really, L'Oreal? You couldn't have at least given us TWO of each polish and gloss? I have a feeling this is going to cause a lot of frustration if there are any break-out colors that everyone raves about. So if you see this display in your area, be sure to scan all the shades and get what appeals to you ASAP. I'd hate for anyone to miss out.
I purchased two polishes from this collection: Femme Noir (a deep, rich, shimmery cognac shade) and Luminescence (a dark, vampy purple with subtle shimmer) so please check back for swatches in the days to come (if you're interested). There's a L'Oreal BOGO1/2OFF sale this week at Rite Aid, plus I also had two $1 L'Oreal coupons from past Red Plum mailers, and also $2 in +UP Rewards which really helped to cut down the price. Instead of paying $4.99 per bottle, I got both bottles for just $3.48. Yay for coupons and sales!
Next up: the Limited Edition Maybelline Lash Stiletto Dazzling Sequins Collection:
This is a limited edition Lash Stiletto formula which contains "sequins" (aka microglitter). There's a waterproof formula and also a washable formula (black tube and red tube). I believe this mascara only comes in black (Blackest Black or something like that). When I saw this display, I immediately got flashbacks of my Limited Edition Maybelline Colossal Volum' Express Diamonds Mascara experience, so it wasn't too difficult for me to pass on this one. If you try this mascara, I would LOVE to hear what you think of it though!
Next up, a new holiday display from Demeter:
Until this week, I had only ever seen Demeter at CVS, (I'm specifically talking about drugstores--I know Demeter is also sold at Ulta, Sephora, etc.) so I was very happy to see this display at Rite Aid. As many of you know, I'm a huge Demeter fan (click here for a partial pic of my Demeter collection) so I love love love the fact that we can conveniently purchase Demeter at our local drugstores now.
In this display are the following scents: Vanilla Cake Batter, Gingerbread, Baby Powder and Pure Soap. Also, there are nice big tester tubes of each fragrance in the display, so I immediately gave my wrist a squirt of Gingerbread and um, I'm hooked! This is a true gingerbread fragrance and so wonderful for the holiday season. Also, the staying power of Gingerbread was quite good (Demeter fragrances aren't really known for intense staying power). I could smell this one on my wrist for about four hours. For $9.99, I can see myself going back to get this ASAP (especially after I get some more +UP Rewards under my belt).
Also, just my two cents here, but if you need to get a coworker, friend, teacher, etc. a last-minute holiday gift, this display could come in very handy. If I received a bottle of Demeter as a holiday present, there's no way I would immediately think, "Oh, she bought that at the drugstore, and probably at the last minute." Ya know what I mean? Put it in a nice velvet pouch and that would make an expensive-looking gift for someone! No one needs to know that you paid $9.99 for it (unless they read this blog, in which case, sorry!).
And finally, when I was at CVS the other day, I saw this Orly Halloween display:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that all three shades in this display (Liquid Vinyl, Orange Punch and Goth) are all repromotes. Oh well. Still nice to have easy access to them, right?
That's it for this Drugstore Sightings post. I hope you found it helpful, and as always, I'd love to hear your thoughts about anything I've mentioned!
omg, i have been DYING to get the new revlon matte lipsticks! i have all the permanent ones (except for wine not, WHICH I WILL BE GETTING SOON!!! such a good fall color!) but havent seen the displays anywhere yet =[ and by golly, does that l'oreal display look just GAWGEOUS!!! =] I LOVE fall/winter for this reason <3 These seasons always seem to have the best (imho) limited edition drugstore displays! can't wait to see if you'll be reviewing any of these soon =]
ReplyDeleteNew Revlon matte shades? Demeter at the drugstore?!The Halloween polishes are out? I need to go shopping now, I'll brb. ;)
ReplyDeleteI saw a swatch of the white revlon polish...i want that! Also for 9.99 I might look to see if CVS gets some of those Demeter scents..cake batter? YES!
ReplyDeleteI like the Loreal collection. I mostly go for a change in nail and lip colors for Autumn. I did read the new Gucci Westman for Revlon was inspired by the 20's.
ReplyDeleteThese were not at my Rite Aid last week! I am so going back to get myself the Vanilla Cake Batter one! Thanks for the info!!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Demeter at drugstores. I have only seen them at the cosmetic stores you mentioned and Sears.
ReplyDeleteI want their Hello Kitty collection that celebrates 50 years of Sanrio.
Ooooo the matte lipsticks are exciting!!
ReplyDeleteI was so excited when I saw this Revlon display at Ulta! I picked up the Smoked Peach lippie, but now I'm thinking I need the eyeshadow palette and maybe the white nail polish too. :D
ReplyDeletewhite cheek color? am i missing something here? why would anyone want white cheek color?
ReplyDeletewingsinheaven: I completely agree with you--these fall/winter collections are always my fave too. :)
ReplyDeleteMelissa: Yes, yes and yes! Haha!
Tiff: If white didn't look horrible on my hands, I would get it too! Haha. And yeah, Cake Batter is super yummy!
Rebecca: Ahhh, that totally makes sense! :)
Cupcake: You are so welcome!
Melody: Yeah, I went crazy when I first saw that Hello Kitty collection (I think I mentioned in a past post how much I wanted it. lol!) but I have yet to sniff any of those scents in person yet. Waaaah!
Victoria: Yay! Glad I'm not alone. :)
Heather: Ooooh, how do you like the Smoked Peach shade??
Jane: I'm assuming the white in that palette is meant to be a highlighter for just above the cheekbone. Hope that helps. :)
@G
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I'm not loving it. It's a nice color, but it doesn't apply as smoothly as the other matte lipsticks. It has a bit of shimmer in it so I wonder if that's why. :\
