The Lipstick League Question of the Week
Name a beauty fad or trend that you want to see come BACK into fashion.
G's answer:
Fun answer: it would be awesome to see the eyeshadow trend of the 70s/80s come back around, where one medium-toned color was applied fron lashline to brow and...that's it! Think of all the time we'd save.
Serious answer: I would like to see a return to natural brows. I know that this is already starting to come back around (yay!), but I am just tired of seeing overly-sculpted, unrealistic, photoshopped brows on every brands' Instagram feed. If you are able to do your brows like that, more power to you! It's not the brows I dislike (they can be quite pretty, actually). I'm just tired of the perpetuation by all makeup brands to make it seem as if this is "normal" and something we all should be doing every day. Personally, brows like that are impossible to pull off at 6am when I'm already running late and I'm lucky to have the time to swipe on some brow pencil before I run out the door. So using a pencil, pomade, powder, gel, concealer and highlighter--all on my brows? I just don't have the time, energy, or devotion for all of that!

we heart this is Currently Craving: Fresh Cocoa Body Exfoliant; ever since I first smelled it I can't get it out of my mind! Hot chocolate meets sugar meets cocoa butter...mmmm.
Squared off nails. I really hate the stiletto and coffin shaped nails.
ReplyDeleteYes, Randi! I completely agree.
DeleteI second that Randi! Although mine are rather short for the time being due to piano lessons. I would LOVE to see my instructor's face if I showed up with coffin shaped nails LOL
DeleteSO with you on the brow obsession. When Benefit introduced their new line of--what?-- seven THOUSAND brow products a few weeks ago, I just wanted to give up and go live in a forest somewhere.
ReplyDeleteOoooo that 80's eyeshadow trend sounds pretty interesting to me!! Always love it when you bring up what you guys did back then. :) Do tell more in the future pleaseee! Anyway agreed with the whole defined look of brows. It already seems exhausting from those last few sentences. Who does have time for all that? I mean, really!!
ReplyDeleteI'm getting tired of Instagram makeup in general. There are some beautiful, creative looks, but the brows and the contouring overkill are just too much. I just hope the women who are almost erasing their faces and resculpting them with makeup for the web don't feel they need to do that day to day. And with companies releasing so many brown and contouring kits, why is it still so hard to find a good taupe pencil that isn't too red?
ReplyDeleteI bought a Lorac contour kit awhile ago from Kohl's( with a coupon of course). I ended up returning it because in real life, I do not contour. If I wanted to, I could use my benefit Hoola powder. But realistically, a contoured face is just not real life for me.
DeleteI just want skin that looks like skin. Not matte not dewy not contoured and highlighted to the high heavens. I want my face makeup to look like I just have nice looking skin! As someone who has had problematic skin in the past I'm tired of caking on face makeup, so it makes me frustrated when I see YouTube girls with beautiful skin pilling on foundation and concealer
ReplyDeleteI have the worst time with brows. I have two extremely different colored brows (one's dark brown and the other is extremely light blonde, almost looks like nothing is there) and I just can't ever get my brows to match colorwise. I've pretty much given up on trying to fill in my brows or whatever. I just keep them looking neat and that's about it.
ReplyDeleteI can't do my brows at all and I have 500 different products! No matter what I do, I always end up looking like Grouch Marx in my opinion...
