Review & Swatches: Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Bye Felicia! (from the #PRIDE Collection)

Of all the shades in the Sinful Colors #PRIDE collection (which you can view in my previous post here), Bye Felicia was the one I wanted the very most. Not only because I'm always on the lookout for a non-streaky yellow creme, but because I love the name of this shade. To me, it captures the spirit of #PRIDE. If you don't like or accept who I am, I don't have room for you in my life so...BYE FELICIA! As a proud ally of the LGBTQA community, I just love this.

NOTE: if you're having a hard time finding the Sinful Colors #PRIDE collection at your local Walgreens stores, I want to remind you that you can purchase the full collection in special gift set on the Drugstore.com website HERE. Sinful Colors is donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of these polishes to The Trevor Project, so it's a win-win. For more info, check out the Sinful Colors website HERE.

Sinful Colors 2002 Bye Felicia!
(retail $1.99 at Walgreens, 0.5 oz.)

Two coats of Bye Felicia!, no top coat

So let's start with the bad. This polish is tiny bit thick, but that's nothing that a few drops of polish thinner can't fix (this one's my favorite, which you can get at Sally for under five bucks; if you don't already own a good polish thinner, it's essential for reviving old polishes or thinning out new polishes that have a thicker consistency).

Also, as you can see in my pic, there were some leveling issues with this polish. Even after a few hours, this polish just didn't want to self-level. But again, this is nothing that you can't fix. A layer of a good, thick, clear top coat like Seche Vite will smooth everything out, no problem.

Now on to the good! First, the color is so fun. It's a bright (but not neon) yellow that reminds me of a No. 2 pencil. As for application, well the first coat was streaky (as per every yellow creme on the planet, basically), but I'm delighted to tell you that the second coat provided the perfect amount of opacity and a third coat was NOT needed. Considering that I have some yellow cremes in my stash that require four coats for decent opacity, I think this is great news.

Dry time is also great for this polish. Both coats dried pretty quickly, and I was able to get a good three days before I started to see minor chips and tip wear (without a base coat or top coat). I wore this polish again with top coat and it performed even better (five days before I started to see some minor chipping).

FINAL VERDICT: if you're looking for a cheery yellow creme for summertime tips or toes, I think this is a fun one to consider. You may have to thin it out a tiny bit, but I think you'll be pleased with the application, performance, and color. I love that this particular shade of yellow doesn't bring out the red in my skin and give me lobster claws, which is always a plus. Also, your purchase goes to an extremely good and important cause, so everyone wins.

PS: I hate that we're still living in times where I feel that I need to say this but, as with my previous #PRIDE post, if anyone reading this has any objections to Sinful Colors honoring the LGBTQA community with a collection of nail polishes, please take that up directly with the brand, and not here. I do not, and will not ever, allow intolerance of ANY kind to be expressed here on my blog, and comments of that nature will always be deleted before they will ever been seen by anyone reading this blog. This is my happy, loving, welcoming, accepting little corner of the internet and I intend to keep it that. Thanks so much!

    4. Yes, of course you can share. I hope we're on the news because I look so much better this year than the last time I marched in 2012. I'll add this link to a pic of us from 2011. Obviously, I'm the one not in uniform. I've lost 85lbs since 2013 so I'm really hoping I get a new pic to replace that one. http://dykesanddykery.tumblr.com/post/6896400368/from-left-theresa-clark-kristi-nielson-randi

  5. Thanks for this! I just started doing my nails again after after many, many years. Just found out I have a terminal illness (hopefully long term!) so I'm going all out even if my family and docs are the only ones seeing it! I have bought four yellows...FOUR! I almost had the hubby grab this one for me but told him never mind. I'll send him out for this one AND I'll brag to our gay son that not only did we help the community but, according to dad, the cute gal at Walmart thinks he secretly does his nails, he'll LOVE that!
Sorry for the exclamation point abuse😕

    1. I am so deeply sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but I am grateful that you would take the time to share a comment here with us. The power of beauty products should never be underestimated--it's amazing what a new little bottle of polish can do to lift our spirits, isn't it? I've had readers from around the world express to me that in their darkest moments, they can use beauty blogs and beauty products in general as a much-needed temporary escape, and I sure have done that myself, more times than I can count. Thanks for sharing that sweet little story with us about your husband. It sounds like you have an amazing family and support system. Sending much love (and nail polish) to you! xo
