Reader G. (yay for another G.!) spotted the new NYC Halloween Collection at her local CVS this week. G. shared lots of pics with us, so take a look!

NYC Halloween 2014 Limited Edition Midnight Beauty Collection
"Hypnotizingly beautiful looks to embrace your eternal beauty"
(NOTE: there is a $1 off tear-pad coupon on this display)
It appears that everything in this collection is limited edition with the exception of the Big Bold Curl Mascara and Liquid Eye Liner (and possibly some of the polishes). Here's a closer look at the limited edition products:

NYC Halloween 2014 Limited Edition Expert Last Lipsticks
Dark Rebirth, Immortal Vixen, Red or Alive
Well this is exciting! If you're a longtime fan of the NYC Halloween collections, then you know that the red and black lipsticks in past collections have always been in the Ultra Last formula (see last year's Halloween collection here). THIS year, NYC has changed it up and offered us limited edition Halloween shades in their newer Expert Last formula.
G. purchased the two reds and was nice enough to swatch them for us:

Immortal Vixen (top)
Red or Alive (bottom)
G. writes: "Immortal Vixen has a bit of shimmer while Red or Alive is just creamy. Both leave behind a nice stain!"

NYC Halloween 2014 Limited Edition Halloween Lashes
Devilish
I believe these lashes are repromotes from the 2013 Halloween Collection.

I'm not sure, as of the time of this post, if the cremes in this collection are new or repromotes (G. didn't have a chance to grab the names). However, the Rock Muse Smoky Top Coat is limited edition and it is DEFINITELY different than the Rock Muse Top Coat that was in the the Fall 2012 Limited Edition Fashion Predator Collection! The one in that collection was 1) not in the In a New York Color Minute formula and 2) it did not contain glitter.

NYC Halloween 2014 Limited Edition Rock Muse Smoky Top Coat
As you can see, THIS Rock Muse Smoky Top Coat contains small and large silver hex glitter. Also, if you're saying to yourself, "Why does the phrase "smoky top coat' sound familiar?" that's probably because Sally Hansen (also owned by Coty) has a Big Smoky Top Coat as well. I really hope that this new Halloween version works better for me than NYC's Fall 2012 version, which was streaky, watery and difficult for me to control.
Thanks so much, G., for the great pics (and swatches). I really appreciate it!
I recently spotted last year's Halloween eyeshadow palettes at Big Lots!
ReplyDeleteOoooh nice! I reviewed that one last year...it was pretty! :)
DeleteI am excited! I officially gave up the hunt for WNW Halloween display so maybe I will have a shot at finding this! Rite Aid is generally good about getting these NYC displays!
ReplyDeleteDon't give on the WNW display just yet, the stores around me just got the display in this week and I had been hunting for it since G posted about it and I thought it wasn't going to come here either , but it did!
DeleteDid you have anything in particular you were wanting
DeleteI bought Red or Alive last week and love it! I didn't see Immortal Vixen and wished I had, because it looks gorgeous! Is it a red lippie or more of berry/ purple shade?
ReplyDeleteHi Erica! In natural lighting, Immortal Vixen looks like a vampy purple-toned oxblood color and indoors it looks like a true oxblood color. It's definitely unique and you can easily wear it sheered out or at full pigment. I do suggest wearing a lip liner with it because it has more of a glossy formula rather than a creamy one. :)
DeleteThanks Gabriella! Great description and it helped me get a better idea of what it looks like.
DeleteI can't wait to find that shade now. You had me at oxblood red, lol! I visited a store called HEB who actuall had this collection out last week. Now all lippies are gone along with the tearpads of $1 off any NYC collection. Headed to CVS tomorrow to hopefully find Immortal Vixen.
I am always SO thrilled when the holiday cosmetics start coming into the stores every year! Love all of fun, vampy looks the Halloween collections can create and the glamorous party girl looks for the duration of the season! Thanks to "G" for all of the fab photos and swatches and to you G....for always keeping us one fashionable foot forward!
ReplyDeleteAwww well I am dissapointed in this years NYC Halloween collection! I normally love something from any of their collections, but nothing in this one caught my eye :(!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely love to spot this in stores. That black glittery top coat reminds me of Revlon's Sparkle Aplenty. I haven't seen any of the new NYC stuff lately. I still want to find that one with the glitter polishes.
ReplyDeleteHi! Does anyone know if the eyeshadows' Base Primer is a cream, or is it just another powder? What about the white one (I can't read what it says but it's supposed to be a highlighter, I'm sure).
