Revlon on the Runway: Rag & Bone SS '14 (sneak peek at new 2014 products)

One of my favorite things about New York Fashion Week is that we sometimes get a glimpse of products that are not yet available in stores. When I received the press release for the Spring/Summer '14 Rag & Bone show, I noticed that Gucci Westman used some Revlon products on the models that are not yet available for purchase.

If you'd like to see what Revlon's got up their sleeves for 2014, keep reading (I promise, it's quite exciting!).

Rag & Bone Spring/Summer '14

WHO: Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, backstage at Rag & Bone
WHAT: Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, focused on clean luminous skin and paired it with a subtle eye, strong brow and bold lip, to compliment the Rag & Bone Spring/Summer ’14 collection.
“This look focuses on textures with a matte lip and luminous skin, but it's not about being sweet; she's still a cool rag & bone girl,” says Westman. “This is the first time rag & bone has ever done a lip look like this. We decided to go with a bold lip because it fit so well with the clothes this season. There is a lot of shine to the collection, as well as pastels, so I really wanted the lip to pop. The lip color was inspired by the World Cup in Brazil and the eye look was inspired by what your eyes might look like the morning after going to bed with your makeup on.”
To recreate the nail look worn by the models, celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi suggests creating a shape that’s slightly rounded and then applies a creamy polish to keep it simple.
“We wanted a soft color that would really complement the bold lip,” says Choi. “To guarantee a finished look, you should always use three coats, as it ensures that the polish will look perfectly opaque and smooth.”

REVLON PRODUCTS TO GET THE LOOK (new products in bold):

Revlon PhotoReady BB Cream in various shades (varies based on model skin tone), $10.99
Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator in Pink Light, $12.99 (NEW for January 14)
Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadow in Not Just Nudes, $6.50 (applied on cheeks)
Eyes:
Revlon ColorStay Liquid Liner in Black, $7.99
Revlon Luxurious Color Eyeliner in Black Velvet, $7.99
Revlon ColorStay Brow Pencil in dark shades (varies based on model hair color), $7.50

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Mischievous, $8.99 (NEW for January 14)
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Carnival from the Spring/Summer ’14 Collection by Gucci Westman, $7.99
Nail:
Revlon Nail Enamel in Sheer Sweetie, $7.99

As you can see, the Skinlights Face Illuminators ARE coming to the US this January (you may recall my post about them landing in Canada earlier this summer).

Also new for January 2014: ColorStay Shadowlinks, ColorBurst Matte Balms, and at least one new Super Lustrous lipstick in the Spring/Summer 2014 Collection by Gucci Westman. I have no idea what Shadowlinks are, but I'm ridiculously excited to find out (I'm guessing, given the price-point of $2.99, that they''ll be eyeshadow singles that link together for a custom palette?). And ColorBurst Matte Balms? Yes please.

Are you curious about these new 2014 products from Revlon? Are you happy to see the return of Revlon Skinlights?

  1. The matte lipbalm sounds intriguing. But I'm really excited about Skinlights coming back. I think I had one of every product in that line.

  2. I literally gave a pterodactyl screech at the thought of matte balms! Shadowlinks intrigue me so! It seems like I just got excited for wearing fall shades that now I'm like "Come on January!" Gets me every time.

  3. Ohhh, so that's why they dropped most of the matte lipsticks from the line. The matte balm coming next year...

  4. Excited for the shadowlinks...anything from Revlon that costs $2.99 is fine with me! Also, I am looking forward to the return of the Skinlights. Thanks for the info! :D

  5. Matte balms, exciting! I wonder if they'll actually be able to make them moisturizing? I think I'll hold off on making my face look slick with sweat, though.

  6. The eyes look like they deliberately oiled underneath them. Knee jerk reaction: Ew.

  7. The greased hair looks nasty, hope that's not a new trend.

  8. Um, I have no idea what you're talking about. This is the first comment that I've seen from you about them looking like "idiots" (although i don't know who you are, since your screen name is "unknown") and I obviously didn't censor it!

Plus, if you look both above and below your comment here, you'll see *other* negative opinions about the looks in this post. I haven't (and wouldn't) censor opinions.

Hope that clears it up for you!
