Review: Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Color in Rapid Orchid

Continuing my series of reviews of the newest shades in the Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Lacquer line, here's the last new shade for 2013: Rapid Orhid (click here to see Pink Expresshere to see Quick Tealhere to see Instant Pearl,  here to see Flaming Race and here to see Move On Mauve):

Milani High Speed Fast Dry Nail Lacquer in 26 Rapid Orchid
(retail: $4.99, 0.45 oz)

Three Free formula and made in the USA

Just like with the other polishes in this line, the brush is flat and wide, but not as wide as the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure or Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro polishes (which should come as a relief to those who feel those brushes are too wide to work with). The edge of the brush is cut cleanly.

Two coats, no top coat:

Rapid Orchid is one of those "it looks like black but it's not really black" type of super-vampy shades. You really need to view it in bright, direct sunlight to see the deep blackberry undertone to this jelly-creme. Indoors, you'll think it's black. This is seriously the darkest not-black-but-looks-like-black shades I think I own.

Just as with all of the other shades in this range that I've reviewed, this one dries very quickly (about a minute for the first coat and a few minutes for the second coat). I only needed two coats for perfect opacity and the formula was great--not too thick and not too thin.

FINAL VERDICT: If you love vampy nail colors, you can't get much vampy-ier than this one! It's practically black, but in bright light you can see the deep blackberry undertones. Great formula, great dry-time and great opacity at two coats. Since this is the last post in this series, I'd just like to summarize that I've been very pleased with all of the new-for-2013 shades in the High Speed Fast Dry Nail Lacquer range. I think Milani did a very nice job with giving lots of different finishes (cremes, jelly-cremes, frosts and shimmers) and you honestly can't beat the dry time on these.

You can now purchase this shade at CVS. You can also purchase this polish via the Milani website.

Do you own any High Speed Fast Dry polishes? If so, what shades do you own and how do you like them?

  2. I wonder how this would work for stamping.

  3. After checking out your series of swatches, I must say that I'm disappointed in Milani. They discontinued a unique line of polishes-the 3D holographic collection-in favor of colors that don't seem in any way innovative or unique. :( I know they can do better!
