Dupe (of a dupe) alert!

First things first: the new Sinful Colors Limited Edition Almost Famous Collection of glitters at Walgreens is also available at Rite Aid, only it goes by the name Paparazzi Collection (I'll be posting pics of that display tomorrow if you're curious what it looks like).

Within the Almost Famous/Paparazzi Collection, there is a shade called Show Stopping. The moment I saw this polish in person, I knew it reminded me of another polish. Sure enough:

Sinful Colors Limited Edition Nail Color in Show Stopping
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Strobe Light

Sally Hansen Strobe Light is a permanent shade that you can find in the core Xtreme Wear line. I took a close look at both polishes and they are pretty much identical. Maybe--just maybe--the holo glitter in Show Stopping is a hair bigger, but that's it. As I was writing this post, I did a quick search to see if anyone had swatched the two side by side, and sure enough, someone has!

And in case you didn't know, Strobe Light is a lookalike for the OPI Katy Perry shade, Teenage Dream (minus the pink tinted base). So, by default, that means Show Stopping is too!

Hope that helps!

  1. I bought Fantasy and In The Spotlight tonight, but as much as I wanted the Show Stopping I decided against since I do already own the Strobe Light. :) Love my new glittery nails!

  2. I saw the collection Almost famous at Walgreens and at Rite Aid the same collection called Paparazzi, but since I got some Sinfulcolors from the Holiday collection I just didn't pick up any. I don't know why they called them different when it's the same one.

    1. Yep, I mentioned the same thing above. I'm guessing each collection is ”exclusive” to each store...

  3. It's also pretty much a dupe of Jordana Fairy Dust. Had I not been blinded by the 99 cent coupon, I would've realized this and not purchased it. Oh well, I do love holo glitter. :)

  4. I got ahold of both and did a comparison on my nails. Like you say, they look like dupes. Also, want to let people interested in OPI Teenage Dream know that Milani has a dupe called Pink Flare. I've seen various comparisons and they look pretty close.

  8. bought them all and did a side by side... TAD has finer silver shimmer/micro glitter that than Strobe Light/Show Stopping. So need to find another polish with light pink jelly base with silver micro glitter. I tried with OPI Throughly Modern Millie but the silver shimmer with too fine but the pink tint is very close, just slightly more peach with TMM. Throughly Modren Millie isn't cheap either so don't want to waste it.

    1. Hum...i'm racking my brain here trying to think of something else you can use...do you have the pink jelly from City Color that was released a while back? Or maybe one of the LE pink jellies that Revlon released a while back? Then you would only need a clear fine silver glitter...there are a lot of cheapie beauty supply brands that make those!

  11. this is a nail polish i need to pick up! 3 weeks ago my apartment building went up in flames and i was able to go back into my unit, which only had extreme water and smoke damage and i rescued all my nail polishes but my makeup didn't fare as well. i'm going to be looking through your cheapie awards and start buying new makeup that won't break my bank. i actually won one of your contests way way back and have been a long time follower :)

  12. I can't link my post because I don't want you to think I am spamming you, but, I found a dupe for Teenage Dream - it is Milani's pink flare. It has the pink base Teenage Dream has that the two polishes you mentioned lack. My blog isn't very popular so not a lot of people know about it, and I never hear it mentioned in other blogs, but I know it's a much better dupe than Sally Hansen or Sinful Colors.

  13. I have another polish that looks JUST like these. It's from la colors found at family dollar, dollar general, and dollar tree. It's called cocktail. It has the same pink glitters and larger round glitters and is only $1 and very decent polish for anyone interested.
