A lot can change overnight! After my frenzy of posts last night about the new shades of Revlon Lip Butters currently being spotted "in the wild," I received some extremely helpful comments and I want to set the record straight about the current Lip Butter shade Peach Parfait.
After comparing what's currently on the Ulta website (the original shades and new shades) and seeing that the original shade, Peach Parfait, is not on the Ulta website, I said that it MIGHT be discontinued, with a new shade in its placed called Pink Parfait. What led me to believe that this MIGHT be the case is that, in the frenzy of what was happening last night, I thought that some readers said they actually spotted Pink Parfait in person (going back over the tweets/emails/Facebook messages this morning, this turned out to NOT be the case). Also, if you'll recall, Peach Parfait was one of the shades that was on clearance at some CVS locations during the last Beauty Clearance Sale (yes, I realize that not all CVS locations had Lip Butters on clearance--but Peach Parfait was on clearance at some locations).I agree that the names Peach Parfait and Pink Parfait are quite similar, and it crossed my mind that maybe Ulta just had a typo on their site all these months and that Pink Parfait was actually supposed to be Peach Parfait all along. But that seemed a bit strange to me and, coupled with the information above, I felt fairly confident that Pink Parfait was a new shade.BUT, then I received a comment from reader schwabj, who informed me that she noticed the shade Pink Parfait on the Ulta site about six months ago. And if you look at the image of Pink Parfait, it does look similar to Peach Parfait--I'm looking at my tube of Peach Parfait in person and they do look alike. Therefore, I'm going to go ahead and say that, as of now, I don't believe that a new shade called Pink Parfait exists. I believe that the shade on the Ulta website is in fact Peach Parfait, and that Peach Parfait is NOT going to be discontinued. To further support this, many of you have said that Peach Parfait is still very much on the Revlon website (usually when a shade is discontinued, brands are pretty quick to remove the shade from their website).I could very well be wrong, but this is what I believe to be true as of the time of this post.
Part of the danger in trying to bring you the latest news in the world of drugstore beauty is that sometimes I'm processing a lot of information at once, and none of it is official (directly from the brand itself). If I receive numurous tips and info at the same time (as was the case with the new Lip Butter shades last night), it can be a challenge to sort through information and bring you a summary of the info I've received. I try very hard to be 101% accurate with everything I post here, but I do make honest mistakes that I try to correct as soon as I'm made aware of them. Thanks for your understanding, and thanks so much to all of you for willingness to offer your insights, information and opinions here. I could never in a million years do this without you and I'm forever grateful.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ulta got the name wrong. The same thing happened to the Sally Hansen purple and pink glitter polishes from the Gem Crush collection. (They accidentally switched the names.) The mistake is still there even though I e-mailed them about it months ago.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info, Michelle!
DeleteUlta did get the name wrong. I ordered "Pink Parfait" from Ulta.com sometime in March 2012 and when it came in, it said "Peach Parfait" on the tube.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for that, Emily. Very good to know (and I hope you weren't disappointed with the shade when you got it!).
DeleteHopinghopinghoping it's not discontinued! It's my HG warm lipcolor.
ReplyDeleteI really don't think it is (but I could of course be wrong!).
DeleteMe too. When I saw it on clearance at my CVS, I was worried it might be discontinued as well & stocked up. But have since seen it fully stocked elsewhere at reg. price.
DeleteI just wanted to say that no one can be expected to get all of the facts straight when they are not available, or when they contradict each other. Journalists (and that's what you are) aren't responsible for when news facts are incomplete. In the previous posts, you stated very clearly that you couldn't confirm the information, and emphasized that it was speculation. You do a great job and if anybody faulted you for your stories about "breaking stories," it would be their ignorance, not yours. Thank you for your exhaustive efforts to keep us all informed.
ReplyDeleteWow, thank you SO much for that. No one faulted me for my original post--it's just an internalized guilt that I feel whenever I make a mistake here. With the case of Peach Parfait, I know that a lot of people love that shade, so knowing that someone may have thought (if even for 12 hours) that it might have been discontinued because of my post, then it makes me feel like crap. I know how devastated I am when my favorite drugstore products are discontinued, so I probably made a bigger deal of this than I should have, but I really wanted to make it clear that I was wrong and that Peach Parfait fans can breathe easier now.
DeleteBut thank you so much for your support and kind words--that truly means the world to me. xo
I completely agree.
DeleteI'm definitely grateful to have a source I can go to & find out the latest beauty info. It's impossible to get 100% facts 100% of the time, even if you heard it from a distributor. We're only humans after all.
You do a great job, and I definitely trust you, and appreciate what you do!
That is what our little community does....discuss, update and opine! At the end of the day we seem to get all the proper information! Love our discussions! I still hope at some point to buy Peach Parfait! Great job as always!
ReplyDeleteIt would make sense for it to be a typo. Seems kind of unlikely for Revlon to have two Parfait shades in one line.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your effort to keep us updated especially on my fave Revlon lip butters. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info G! I think ULTA is probably just making a mistake with the name, either way - I love Peach Parfait, so I hope it won't be discontinued!
ReplyDeleteG., you are an absolute peach! ( Ha. See what I did there?) But I second the thoughts expressed by ceruleanablaze above. I think you were consistently clear in all your postings yesterday that you were SPECULATING.
ReplyDeleteAs for me? I cannot wait to check out in person the confirmed 4 new shades because I love this product.
Thanks for the shout out! I love Peach Parfait so I wanted to defend it's honor! lol
ReplyDeleteI remember when I bought Peach Parfait online sometime last year, it was labeled Peach Sorbet on the Ulta site. Geez, Ulta!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you Lord! Peach parfait is a HG shade for me! I think I might just die if it were to be discontinued! Going to see for myself tomorrow and scurry on over to Ulta to see if I can spot the new shades! :) Thank you for the update!
ReplyDeleteI'm betting Ulta made an oops.
ReplyDeleteRevlon would be nuts to discontinue one of their most beloved lipsticks! Peach Parfait is HG status for so many!
I think Peach Parfait is a HG color for a lot of people (myself included), and if it got discontinued there'd be a lot of disappointed consumers.
ReplyDeleteI have peach parfait and don't like it at all. It's way more drying than other ones and the color isn't pigmented. I'm not to sad to see it be discontinued
