Just when we thought the onslaught of new drugstore lip balms might be slowing down...nope. I'm still totally in love with my new-ish Nivea Olive Oil & Lemon lip balm and now this. I can't handle the temptation!
If you read beauty blogs written by bloggers outside of the US (which you totally should!) then you might already know about these lip butter tins from Nivea, which been available in the UK (and perhaps elsewhere) for a while now (FYI, Vaseline also makes lip balms in tins for the UK, and even super cute limited edition ones).
Well, I am delighted to tell you that the new Nivea Lip Butters are now in the US, and they're even on sale this week at CVS (more on that in a bit):

New Nivea Lip Butters in Raspberry Rosé Kiss, Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss,
Smooth Kiss, Caramel Cream Kiss
I'm more of a tube/stick type of gal, but I will make exceptions when the flavors are interesting or unique. And these, my friends, fit the bill! I'm ELATED that Nivea didn't change the flavors for the US (these are the same flavors that are offered in the UK). Often times, it seems that flavors, shades, shade names and packaging of beauty products are changed to "fit an American audience" and, for me personally, sometimes this can mean things turn bland in the process. So hats off to Nivea for keeping things the same for us here in the states.
According to the Nivea website, these new Lip Butters contain shea butter and almond oil, and I believe Smooth Kiss is probably the uncented/unflavored version (but I could be wrong). I don't know about the other ingredients in these butters yet (I don't want to assume the ingredients are the same as in the UK version), but you can be sure that I'll be picking these up and reviewing them soon.
Which reminds me: these lip butters have landed at CVS and they're on sale starting tomorrow (1/6 - 1/12) for 2/$5. Since that's the sale price, I'm assuming these are probably around $3.50 at full price.

Are you excited to get your hands (and lips) on these? Have you already spotted/purchased any? Thoughts?
Oh these sound amazing! I love Nivea lip balms, I'm sure these will be so great (:
ReplyDeleteYep...picked up all 4 plus a backup of each one yesterday! :D Nivea makes the best lip balms, bar none.
ReplyDeleteOh and they were $3.99 retail (but $2.50 on sale as you said) at the CVS where I found them (not even gonna say how many CVS's I went to looking for them ;-))
ReplyDeleteHow did I know you'd already be all over these?? Lol!! Thanks for confirming the price...I was only off by $0.49! :)
Deletebahaha! you know me and lip balm (and mascara) I guess! ;)
Deletelove them btw - used it as my overnight balm last night and my lips feel super soft this morning.
I just purchases one two days ago and oh my goodness! These feel amazing on my lips. It's so soft and creamy. Not to mention the vanilla and macadamia one smells AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteOooh, thanks for the great feedback!
DeleteI'm with you G, I prefer my lipbalm in tube form, but I can't wait to find these! I'm excited we're getting the same flavors the UK did! Caramel Creme Kiss sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteMeeee three on the tube vs pot stance! Caramel would be my first pick too, great wintertime scent/flavour.
DeleteLol! So we're all three going to break our rules for these babies? ;)
DeleteOk... I'm going to have to pick these up! (Good thing I live equidistant from 3 CVSes) I'm really glad they didn't change the packaging for the US (like Vaseline did) I rather like the little round tins!
ReplyDeleteEquidistant from THREE? you lucky girl! :)
DeleteI have the raspberry and vanilla one. Love them!
ReplyDeleteYay! Great to know! :)
DeleteNEED! That is all. : )
ReplyDeleteThese look great :)
ReplyDeleteOh I hope these show up some where soon! CVS closest to me really is a let down so I decided not to even bother anymore. I simply think I will get them all! Where I live multiple lip balms are a necessity!!!
ReplyDeleteThese will be mine soon.
ReplyDeleteNeither my CVS or my Walgreens has these yet! Ugh! It's such a let down when it comes to new items. You'd think that living just outside of downtown Chicago might help me... But in fact, I think it hurts my odds of finding new products. :-(

ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for these for what seems to be the longest!! They had a giveaway for the sweet kiss balm a while back, and unfortunately I guess I somehow wasn't one of the first 500 lol! Even though I clicked send the second it turned 12AM! Shrugs. Any who! Can't wait to try these! I'm assuming sweet kiss is the unflavored inscented one also, due to the packaging and because it was the one chosen for the giveaway... You know, like the "original" or whatever. Thanks for the heads up!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Timing was in point!
DeleteI got this in the mail yesterday! Yay freebies!
I really like it! They actually sent me the caramel one, and it's rather nice and veryyyy buttery!
My mom loved it, and she's really picky about any products on her face! Somehow she doesn't wear any makeup, at all, and manages to look 15 years younger than she is!! Not even a damned moisturizer!
Anywho, the scent may be a turn off for some, but I really like it. I suppose it does smell like caramel, it's just strange because there's no flavor. I like that though.
According to my BF, it is indeed kiss approved!
The CVS ad says something about a coupon in the Sunday paper for $3 of 2 of them? But it wasn't in the ads with my paper = did anyone get the coupon? I've been searching online for it, and can't find the coupon anywhere!!
ReplyDeleteI have weekly flyers dumped on my porch every week, and usually there are coupon flyers in there. The $3 off 2 for Nivea lip balms coupon was in one of those coupon flyers for me!
DeleteOooh can't wait to try these!
ReplyDeleteFound these in my local CVS today. Honestly did not expect to, but I saw an employee unboxing things and figured it wouldn't hurt to ask if she had these in one of the boxes. I feel terrible because she managed to drop them all over the floor in her effort to unbox them quickly for me. They rang up 2/$5 which saves $3 or so.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually a little disappointed in these, because I sought them out in the first place because I heard they were not petroleum based through UK blogs. When I got home, I noticed petrolatum was the first ingredient, which dries out my lips more in the long run. I'll keep using them though because they do make my lips really soft, they smell great, and they're not too shiny which is great for under my matte lipsticks. There's also A LOT per tin, and the tins are wide enough for me to apply them right on the lips, avoiding having to dip my fingers in.

ReplyDeleteThese remind me of the tin lipglosses I wished I had when I was a kid. Don't remember the brand, but they slid out in a small tin. Anyone remember those?
ReplyDeleteI was SO happy to find them at my CVS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI went shopping with my mom and found them after looking for about 7 minutes (LOL) all over the cosmetics/Skincare aisles. At my CVS, they were in a small (TINY) section of where the new products were. They were hanging from the side aisle (so sneaky of CVS!) but surprisingly, the only "flavors" left were the vanilla and raspberry ones (which are the ones that I wanted!) let me tell you that these are great!
I put it on as my mom drove home (CVS is literally down the street from where I live, aha!) and I am IN LOVE. I never thought I would find something as great as my Carmex, but OMG! Haha! I ate a pear and right now I just had my dinner and I still feel a bit of the balm on my lips!
I love it! I hope you try it soon! It's so great! (:

PS-I originally went to CVS to get the Revlon NN Powder after reading your review (there was only a few left and I snagged the last Medium shade, YAY!) and I wanted to get the BB cream but I could not find it no matter how much I looked. ): ): ): hopefully next time! Can't wait to try the powder tho!
I was able to find the raspberry & vanilla flavors at the CVS on Golf Rd. in Schaumburg, IL if this helps anyone. I really wanted the caramel one, but I haven't seen it yet. The vanilla one smells divine, but it gives my lips a whitish cast and is kind of ordinary in terms of moisturization (IMHO).
ReplyDeleteI saw these at my CVS the other day and want them sooooo bad!! Though, I can't get myself to pay the full price (around $3.97.) Any idea when a 2 for $5 will come up? I looked through the CVS weekly ad and on Nivea's website and can't find any type of coupon of discount.
